It's a brand-new year, which means stars have a clean slate in the fashion department. So who got a head start on the style hits so far? Well, not Rita Ora, that's for sure. The singer stepped out in New York City in this befuddling Fendi ensemble — a gray-checked double-breasted suit with a pleated half skirt and trousers plus a cream turtleneck and chunky boots — and earned herself a spot on the miss list… yet again! Winter whites! We loved Christie Brinkley's Balmain minidress at the "American Beauty Star" TV show screening and panel in New York City on Jan. 17. From the fun fringe detail at the sleeves and hemline to those killer nude Christian Louboutins, this look was an instant hit.

Emma Stone debuted a much darker 'do on the Producers Guild Awards red carpet. That new deep brown shade and her dark red lip were the highlights of an otherwise dreary ensemble.
Double bows made for a major fashion moment on Rosamund Pike at the International Watch Company Schaffhausen Gala in Geneva, Switzerland, on Jan. 15. We loved this sweet white Givenchy look, which featured the thinnest of spaghetti straps, a bow detail along the neckline and then again at the waist before a pleated column skirt took over.
The Stephane Rolland getup Sigourney Weaver wore ahead of the designer's Paris Fashion Week show on Jan. 22 was a sleek all-black look, but we were thrown by that insane, massive ruffle detail down her coat. Let's take a closer look…
Yep, that insane ruffled detailing on Sigourney Weaver's coat — which was also worn on the designer's runway — really detracted from an otherwise ideal Paris Fashion Week look.
Monochromatic gray is seriously underrated! Saoirse Ronan proved this during a stop at the "This Morning" show in London on Jan. 17 when she arrived rocking a dark gray Khaite sweater with gray trousers and gray boots by Casadei.
Where do we begin? Iggy Azalea wore this hideous camouflage catsuit with a bizarre black harness detail with thigh-high boots, making for a mess of an outfit when she attended the Alyx show during Paris Fashion Week on Jan. 20.
We loved this emerald green Oscar de la Renta look on Mindy Kaling, who sported this gorgeous dress featuring a fun ruffle detail to the Producers Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Jan. 19.
Yikes! The Julien Macdonald frock that Kate Beckinsale wore to the LA Art Show on Jan. 23 was truly cringeworthy. Its loud, shiny silver-and-black pattern, fringe details and structured shoulders were bad, and the back wasn't much better…
Kate Beckinsale's Julien Macdonald frock was equally unfortunate from the back. From that unnecessary cut-out to the super-short hemline, this one's definitely a miss from all angles.
In theory, this Miu Miu black leather romper shouldn't work. But Chloe Sevigny rocked the edgy short-sleeved look flawlessly, from its giant belted bow detail at the waist to the risky choice of knee socks with chunky platform heels. The star was certainly the best dressed at the premiere of "Russian Doll" in New York City on Jan. 23.
This month, Kelly Ripa taught us that there is such a thing as too much velvet! Though we've been digging the rich fabric, this ruffled frock from The Vampire's Wife that Kelly rocked at the Town & Country Jewelry Awards in New York City on Jan. 24 proved too much of a good thing isn't always a good thing. We were on the fence about the Brock Collection frock that Alison Brie wore to the Producers Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Jan. 19. Though we almost liked the spaghetti-strap dress with its floral corset and frilly skirt, her odd shoe choice ultimately threw off the whole look and made us second-guess this entire ensemble.
Bella Thorne attended the On the Record Speakeasy opening in Las Vegas on Jan. 19 in this puzzling getup. From the barely-there bodysuit to those red printed pants and leather trench coat, though this is an improvement on some of the things we've seen on Bella, it's still a miss.
A matching red carpet moment? We're obsessed with Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen's adorable twinning looks on the Producers Guild Awards red carpet on Jan. 19. The two both sported pantsuits with Mary adding feminine flair in the form of those blush heels.
Almost, but not quite. Though we loved the idea of Anne Hathaway pairing a Wolford turtleneck bodysuit with a skirt — the Givenchy one she chose with those blue and teal designs lost us.
At the Giorgio Armani Prive show during Paris Fashion Week on Jan. 22, Amber Heard pulled out a fashion hit with this sleek, perfectly tailored black pantsuit with a white blouse underneath. She finished off this polished look with an artfully messy updo and a sharp red lip.
Linda Cardellini has been killing it in the style department lately, and this gorgeous Georges Chakra kept the star on a roll of hits! The dreamy pale pink strapless dress featured just the right amount of delicate sequined detailing, tiers and tulle without overdoing it, and paired perfectly with that clutch on the Producers Guild Awards red carpet on Jan. 19.
Naomi Watts shocked us with this fashion disaster at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards in New York City on Jan. 7. The silky pale pink Nina Ricci dress was not only ill-fitting but wrinkled! Though the white accessories were a nice choice, they couldn't fix the disastrous dress.
A printed pantsuit? We were obsessed with Emily Blunt's statement look at the AFI Awards Luncheon in Los Angeles on Jan. 4. From the cropped pants to the all-the-way buttoned jacket and the daring pink shoe choice, the ensemble was practically perfect! (Sorry, we had to.)
We were hoping that stars would leave the sheer skirt trend back in 2018, but here we are not even a week into 2019 with Lily Collins. The star attended The Art of Elysium's Heaven gala in Los Angeles on Jan. 5 in this floral frock, and though we loved the multicolored print, we couldn't get behind that sheer skirt.
Bella Thorne, is that you? The typically outlandish star shocked in this demure all-black getup comprised of a turtleneck, leather skirt and thigh-high Fendi leather boots at the Celebrity Experience in Los Angeles on Jan. 6. We hope this new look is a sign of things to come!
We adore Sarah Paulson and all of her quirky style choices, but even we can't get behind the custom pink Prada frock with a bizarre green-and-yellow fire motif that she wore to the "Glass" premiere in London on Jan. 9.
Excelling at street style for the men? Mahershala Ali, who arrived at the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" studios in Hollywood on Jan. 9 in this impossibly cool combo — a Canadian tuxedo in the form of cuffed jeans and a button-down denim shirt topped with a rust-colored coat plus fresh white sneakers.
Also killing it in the street style department? Miss Lucy Hale, who donned a navy pinstriped suit with a white T-shirt and white heels while walking in New York City on Jan. 9.
Gemma Chan looked like a dream at the Critics' Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California, on Jan. 13. The "Crazy Rich Asians" star donned this show-stopping Jason Wu number with an all-over floral print, drop sleeves and a full skirt. Next up, a better look at her equally flawless beauty look!

Kate Beckinsale's very sheer fashion moment at the Warner Bros. and InStyle 20th Annual Golden Globes party in Beverly Hills on Jan. 6 wasn't one of our favorite looks of the night, to put it mildly. There just seemed to be entirely too much sheer paneling on her stark white gown by Aadnevik — though we did like the corset-style bodice and tiered detailing on the skirt.
One of our favorite award season trends so far? Black lace — which Isla Fisher donned at the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 6. We adored her Monique Lhuillier ball gown — complete with its sweetheart neckline and alternating stripes of black lace.
Linda Cardellini continued the black lace trend at the Critics' Choice Awards. Her sweet Zuhair Murad number rested off her shoulders and featured tier after tier of black lace that resulted in an instant add to the hit list.
Nicole Kidman rarely disappoints in the style department, which makes this look all the more surprising. The skintight burgundy Michael Kors gown she wore to the Golden Globes on Jan. 6 just wasn't a hit. From the high neck to the long sleeves, frankly, this was just too many sequins.
Timothee Chalamet is never a bore on the red carpet, but that doesn't mean he's always a hit either! Take his Golden Globes look on Jan. 6, for example. This Louis Vuitton getup featured a sparkly harness-like addition atop his collarless dress shirt which, while edgy, really missed the mark.
Fresh off his Golden Globes victory, Rami Malek picked up another win for this killer red suit at the Online Film Critics Society Awards in Los Angeles on Jan. 9.
Leopard print on a formal red carpet? Anne Hathaway not only embraced animal print but sequined animal print… which is never going to end well. The star donned this disastrous Elie Saab gown at the Golden Globes on Jan. 6.
Penelope Cruz sparkled and shined on the red carpet at the 24th Annual Forque Awards Gala in Zaragoza, Spain, on Jan. 12. The Spanish beauty donned this slinky red sequined frock from Galvan for the event. It fit her like a glove, resulting in a show-stopping hit.
Carrie Keagan served up one of the most flagrant misses of the month at the Critics' Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California, on Jan. 13 in this disastrous getup. With its wallpaper-like print and bizarre and unnecessary tassel detailing, we're going to need to take a closer look…
Not only is Carrie Keagan's look sheer enough to see her bra, but this view also gives you a better angle of those nearly floor-length tassels. While they're a beautiful pink shade, we just don't understand why this odd embellishment was needed.
Amanda Seyfried was pretty in pink at SIHH 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland, on Jan. 14 — two shades of it, to be exact! With its long sleeves with darling ruffled details and slightly darker striped skirt, this look was simple yet stellar.
Utilitarian chic? Mom-to-be Mamie Gummer missed the mark in this tan number at the "True Detective" premiere in Los Angeles on Jan. 10. Even though it has pockets (always a plus!), this unflattering, unfortunate frock landed among the misses.
Rachel Weisz looked like a dream at the 2019 Golden Globes in this black-and-white Celine confection, which started with white ruffles and ended in fitted black, the perfect complement to the full, frilly top half — an instant hit.
Here's a lesson in how makeup and hair can completely ruin an otherwise amazing dress. Emmy Rossum attended the Critics' Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California, on Jan. 13 in this crimson velvet Ralph Lauren gown. From the shade to its plunging neckline and full skirt, the divine dress should have been an easy hit, right? Not so fast! Let's see her beauty look…
And here's where things took a turn. Despite an impossibly dark lip, the rest of Emmy Rossum's makeup was minimal — making that odd choice pop even more (and not in a good way). Things continued to go south from there as that chunky choker from Fred Leighton was also an awful choice for an otherwise glam gown.
Yikes. Olivia Wilde's purple-and-red floral-print dress by Jonathan Cohen left a lot to be desired — particularly, we wanted less shine! She paired it with some killer black heels but even those couldn't salvage this look she donned for the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City on Jan. 8.
Okay, hear us out on this one! We think Christina Ricci's odd combo at the Lifetime Winter Movies Mixer in Los Angeles on Jan. 9 actually worked. The dark green-and-black striped pants are killer on their own, but that funky asymmetrical long-sleeved top brings another level of edge to this sharp look.
We adore Emmanuelle Chriqui, but this outfit she wore to the premiere of "The Passage" in Los Angeles on Jan. 10 left a lot to be desired. The sleeveless jumpsuit didn't fit the star well, and that weird pop of orange on the bodice left us confused. But we will give her props for perfectly matching her shoes to her outfit!
Allison Williams had a major winter white moment at the Sean Penn J/P Haitian Relief Organization benefit gala in Los Angeles on Jan. 5. We loved the star's eyelet Off-White jumpsuit with its plunging neckline and belt detail.
Eek! What are you wearing, Jenna Coleman? The "Victoria" star stepped out for a screening of "The Cry" in New York City on Jan. 10 in this disastrous getup — half-sweater, half-hideous shiny printed skirt.
