For the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City on Nov. 7, the beauty opted for this stunning Christian Siriano gown complete with plenty of drama thanks to a mermaid-style skirt that flowed into mounds of tulle. Though we appreciated Taylor Swift's departure from her usual style, we weren't sold by this David Koma custom piece she wore to the MTV Europe Music Awards in Düsseldorf, Germany, on Nov. 13. The spaghetti-strap bodysuit worn underneath a gemstone-embellished sheer net skirt just wasn't a hit in our books, though it did fit in amongst some other wild fashion at the annual show.

This was one of the most talked-about looks from the end of the year: a frumpy fit that Katie Holmes wore to the iHeartRadio Z100 Jingle Ball in New York City on Dec. 9. The strange combo — a strapless dark blue Tove bustier-style top, slightly baggy straight-leg jeans from Reformation, and chunky Maison Margiela sneakers — set the internet ablaze, as it seemed to touch on '00s trends (remember dresses over pants?) while simultaneously being disastrous. Katie's stylist, Brie Welch, defended the look to The New York Times, explaining, "We decided the rich color and subtle bustier effect detailing of the top was elegant and would be fun if paired with jeans, creating a more youthful feel for Jingle Ball and the atmosphere there." She added that it was Katie's idea to pair the outfit with sneakers because the actress wanted to dance to Dua Lipa at the concert.

Maybe Lily Collins should have borrowed something from her fictional character's closet? We were beyond disappointed in her showing at the season 3 premiere event for "Emily In Paris," which took place in Paris on Dec. 6. Her Saint Laurent design came in a boring brown shade, but it was the odd ruching and knot details down the center that truly lost us.
