Ball gowns, neon hues and full skirts galore! The 2018 Emmys did not disappoint in the style department, with many stars putting their best fashion foot forward. As for the others? Well, we've rounded up the best and worst looks of the night, starting with someone who missed the mark — Emilia Clarke. Her Dior dress was all over the place, from the bodice of sheer lace and floral pattern to that skirt of alternating sheer and floral panels, and we weren't fans of the odd frock. Keep reading to see even more Emmy fashion!

Issa Rae's custom Vera Wang design was our favorite look of the night. From the powder blue shade to the beautifully embellished bodice to the unexpected pants underneath the layers of delicate fabric on the skirt, every piece of this wispy confection was perfection.
Mandy Moore donned custom Rodarte for the Primetime Emmys, and though the dress was certainly sparkly, the oddly shaped silhouette detracted from the funky metallic fabric. We weren't fans of the look, or the way the shimmery style caught the light when it photographed. Mandy deserved both an Emmy nomination and a better dress!
Tracee Ellis Ross can always be counted on for a major fashion moment. The 2018 Emmys were no exception, with the star stepping out in this hot pink Valentino number with dramatic, oversized sleeves and a full ball gown skirt. The best part of this ultra-glam getup? The way she rocked it on the carpet. See what we mean next…
Tracee Ellis Ross truly worked her hot pink Valentino couture on the red carpet using her oversized sleeves to strike pose after glorious pose. Next up, her hair and makeup…
More neon! Tracee Ellis Ross matched her lip to her gown, selecting this hot pink shade. She added another cheery hue when it came to her eye makeup, rocking neon orange to bring yet another pop of color to her Emmy look.
Scarlett Johansson disappointed in this overdone design. From the off-the-shoulder bodice to the plunging neckline to the thigh-high slit, all of the elements combined seemed tired and resulted in a miss in our book.
Jessica Biel's structured Ralph & Russo gown is what couture dreams are made of. From the fan-like, patterned detail on the bodice to the tiered skirt, we loved the intricate detailing of the dress and gave it a pass for breaking the white-after-Labor Day rule. Let's take a closer look…
Up close gives a better look at the geometrical shapes on Jessica Biel's Ralph & Russo gown. It also shows off her beauty look — stunning waves, cool-toned makeup and a hot pink lip.
Kate McKinnon couldn't have bored us more with her Emmys ensemble. The "Saturday Night Live" star donned this snoozy Alexander Wang column dress, which was black with silver stripes up the bodice, for an underwhelming red carpet moment.
Neon shades really had a moment on the carpet at the Emmys. Outstanding lead actress in a limited series or movie nominee Regina King embraced the trend with this fun neon green custom Christian Siriano number complete with a funky circular neckline and belted waist. But out favorite part of Regina's look? Her hairstyle! See it next…
Red carpet hairstyles can be boring, so we loved how Regina King thought outside the box! The star's 'do was comprised of both a bun and a low ponytail, which made for an interesting and eye-catching combo that complemented her gown's low back.
Alexis Bledel's style is never consistent, but we were disappointed she didn't pull out a hit on Emmy night. This strapless pink Delpozo gown (with the added touch of the night — a dash of neon in the form of a randomly placed tulle panel) really disappointed us. Making things worse? The bizarre feather-like embellishments and the fact that we see a peek of stark black heels underneath.
A pop of neon that worked? This eccentric one-piece number by Christian Siriano on Tatiana Maslany! The halter-neck top, complete with a cape-like detail on one shoulder and a draped panel down the opposite side, gave way to a pair of sleek black pants for an unexpected red carpet moment. Making things even more amazing? Her multicolored, shimmering pumps. Next, let's take a look at her equally edgy accessories and makeup.
When it came to earrings, Tatiana Maslany shirked the usual diamonds for rows upon rows of hoops! The unexpected choice went well with her sartorial selection, and her updo and coral-colored lip completed this interesting ensemble.
Kristen Bell broke a cardinal fashion rule on the Emmys carpet — no white after Labor Day! The star donned a slinky white fitted frock by Solace London, but even without the off-limits color, we weren't fans of the gown's odd nearly off-the-shoulder long sleeves. Her hair and beauty look, however, were a completely different story…
We might not have been fans of Kristen Bell's Solace London dress, but we did love her soft, minimal makeup look and updo combo. The star rocked a sleek bun, which helped show off those incredible drop diamond earrings.
More hot pink! Thandie Newton opted for this rich Brandon Maxwell number, which featured an asymmetrical neckline and a glamorous train detail that draped off the shoulder. We loved the way she paired it with silver strappy heels. Next up, her beauty look and a better look at those amazing earrings!
Thandie Newton added even more pink to her Emmys ensemble with her makeup! The star sported dark pink eyeshadow and a rosy pink hue on her lips while her updo helped show off those glamorous diamond earrings.
Allison Janney brought another pop of color to the red carpet at the Emmys in a hot pink sequined Prabal Gurung gown. And though we loved the fun shade, we weren't fans of the odd silhouette — one long sleeve and one with a cape-like detail. But we do give the "Mom" star points for keeping the fun shade going with her matching clutch and strappy heels.
What's the opposite of an LBD? Sarah Paulson's major black moment on the Emmys red carpet! The star went with the classic, ultra-glamorous color on televisions biggest night, opting for an Oscar de la Renta design with an interesting neckline and full feathered skirt.
She ready… to bring the rainbow! When you're Tiffany Haddish, you can pull off every color of the rainbow — all at once! The star sported this custom multicolored Prabal Gurung gown inspired by the Eritrean flag in honor of her heritage, and in turn brought plenty of life to the red carpet.
Sorry, Connie Britton, but this one's a miss! The TV superstar attended the Primetime Emmys in this disappointing Sachin & Babi frock featuring a pattern that gave us major wallpaper vibes.
A feathered dream! We adored Penelope Cruz's beautiful gray and white Chanel design comprised of silk tulle, iridescent beads and loads of feathers. The show-stopping creation took over 280 hours to hand-embroider, and we'd say it definitely paid off!
Yikes. Kristin Cavallari sported the mullet of dresses on television's big night — a one-shouldered, shiny black high-low gown. The only thing more unfortunate than her dress selection? That bizarre bouffant hairstyle!
Keri Russell rocked Zuhair Murad at the 2018 Emmys, wowing in this unexpected combo. The star sported a beaded black jacket, complete with a feathered peplum detail, over a pleated chiffon skirt with a thigh-high slit from the designer's Spring 2018 Collection.
How darling is Yvonne Strahovski? The "The Handmaid's Tale" nominee looked adorable while showing off her baby bump in this beautiful black gown with bell sleeves. Next up, her beauty look!
Yvonne Strahovski accessorized with layers of bracelets and gorgeous matching earrings. When it came to her beauty look, she opted for glamorous waves, a perfect red lip and warm-toned makeup, which all helped contribute to her amazing Emmys look.
Yikes. We hated Alison Brie's cheesy yellow dress, which featured overdone cut-outs, too many sparkles and a super-high center slit.
Sandra Oh rocked red Ralph & Russo at the 2018 Emmys. The star's gorgeous short-sleeved design featured a plunging neckline and beautiful beaded detailing along the waist and sleeves. She accessorized with some silver bangles and opted to wear her hair curly for the glamorous night.
Millie Bobby Brown donned this darling off-the-shoulder design by Calvin Klein by Appointment. The "Stranger Things" star's pale pink frock featured a black-and-white floral pattern with a hoop skirt which gave way to her pale pink pointy-toe pumps that matched her dress to perfection.
We've seen a lot of great black dresses, but here's one that went wrong. Maya Rudolph selected this tea-length frock with oversized sleeves, a round collar and an oddly sculpted skirt that resulted in a surefire miss.
Stunning! Rachel Brosnahan went with a bright red, one-shouldered number for her big night. The "Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" winner chose a classic pleated Oscar de la Renta gown featuring one draped off-the-shoulder detail and one thin strap. Now, let's get a better view of those jewels…
Rachel Brosnahan's beauty look was flawless, with her lip color matching her dress color to a tee. But it was her earrings that took our breath away! Check out those dangly Tiffany & Co. diamonds!
Shutting it down! Felicity Huffman nailed the pantsuit at the 2018 Emmys, rocking this black variation sans shirt. Her wide-legged pants gave way to her platform heels, but it was her other accessories that helped elevate this look even further. She added a silver clutch and delicate gold layered necklaces, which were both simple yet perfect additions.
We were seriously crushing on Constance Wu's style during the "Crazy Rich Asians" press tour, but this Jason Wu dress ended her streak. The messy sequined frock with its odd off-the-shoulder draping and cut-outs was ill-fitting and an unfortunate choice for her presenting duties.
Gorgeous in green! Dakota Fanning arrived in style in this stunning Dior dress. The star's frock featured spaghetti straps and a delicate tiny belt detail, but her jewels rivaled her gown's beauty. Let's get a better view next…
Those earrings! Dakota Fanning's emerald drop earrings from Lorraine Schwartz matched the hue of her Dior gown to a tee! We loved the attention to detail and the way she wore her hair in a half-up, half-down style to show them off perfectly.
We love it when the men bring some color to the carpet! Nikolaj Coster-Waldau rocked this deep golden velvet tuxedo jacket with black lapels on the Emmys red carpet and paired it with a white dress shirt, a tiny black bowtie, black trousers and a pair of sharp black dress shoes.
We were so excited to see Claire Foy's Emmys getup, but this one really let us down. The star selected this simple and boring strapless Calvin Klein frock with mismatched strappy heels (one had studded detailing, one did not), which we chalked up as a miss. But from the back, it was a different story… just like her hair and makeup!
From the back, Claire Foy's Calvin Klein frock had way more personality thanks to a massive bow detail. This view also gives a better angle of her stunning makeup (including that bright red lip), sleek updo and those phenomenal drop diamond earrings.
Natalie Dyer also got the gold memo at the Emmys, selecting this stunning, slinky metallic number with silver straps and beautiful beaded embellishments.
Fashion deja vu? We feel like we've seen this dress on Heidi Klum before. The shiny champagne-colored strapless confection from the Zac Posen Resort line came complete with a train but was a snore in a sea of many more interesting dresses.
Samira Wiley stunned in silver sequins at the Emmys, picking this embellished Jenny Packham gown with statement shoulders. Samira kept things super-sparkly by matching her accessories to her dress — adding silver dangling earrings and a silver clutch.
Gaten Matarazzo might be a teen, but he's been on enough red carpets to know sneakers aren't a suitable shoe choice! We loved his mustard-colored velvet suit jacket by Dolce & Gabbana, that classy bow tie and white dress shirt and those black dress pants, but he lost us with those Converse sneakers.
Joey King had a princess moment on the Emmys red carpet in this maroon Zac Posen creation. The dress featured an asymmetrical neckline and gave way to a dreamy ballgown skirt full of tulle. The "Kissing Booth" star rocked a half-up, half-down hairstyle with the beautiful confection.
Kirsten Dunst kept things super-simple but super-pretty on the red carpet. The new mom opted for this navy blue design with thin straps and a full skirt for an understated yet timeless fashion moment.
Ellie Kemper opted for this rose-colored J. Mendel design and scored herself a hit! From the sweetheart neckline to the glam, tiered skirt, we loved this feminine, delicate dress. We also adored how she paired it with an updo and a pair of chunky drop earrings.
Pink lace perfection! Sydney Sweeney seemed to float on the cream-colored carpet at the Emmys in this dreamy Reem Acra design. The strapless sweetheart neckline gave way to a delicate sparkly belt detail at the waist and a glamorous full skirt with a scalloped hemline.
We wanted more from Milo Ventimiglia! The "This Is Us" patriarch underwhelmed with an off-white tuxedo jacket contrasted against a stark white dress shirt with a black bow tie, black trousers and shiny dress shoes.
Looking gorgeous, Tina Fey! The "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" creator wore this shimmering floral-patterned Elie Saab gown. The frock featured lace detailing along the straps and down the plunging neckline and was held together by a thick leather belt.
Gwendoline Christie looked like a golden goddess at the Emmys! The "Game of Thrones" beauty looked lovely in this long-sleeved shiny gold gown with a plunging neckline and a golden rope-like belt.
Mario Lopez had an unwanted accessory on Emmy night — a boot! The host donned a suit with shorts instead of pants to help accommodate his boot after having surgery on his Achilles tendon earlier this summer. For that reason, we'll give him a pass on the shorts and loafer choice.
Sarah Silverman also sported a dramatic black ball gown. Her strapless Galia Lahav frock featured mounds of tulle, belted at the waist, with cascading tiered layers for that extra glam factor.
Navy and black? Sara Bareilles mixed the two colors on her 2018 Emmys dress and ended up with a miss. The nominee added insult to injury by throwing on bangle bracelets in mismatched colors. Next!
We were pleasantly surprised to see Poppy Delevingne on the Emmys carpet, mainly due to this gorgeous mint green dress. The structured, sleeveless frock featured a mermaid-style skirt and a unique ruffled detailing on the back, which you've got to see…
Look at all those ruffles! We loved the back of Poppy Delevingne's glam mint green gown — and the way she accessorized with a sleek ponytail with those black bows.
We were loving the color and style of Michelle Dockery's blue gown… up until we saw those hideous orange floral embellishments! The odd addition threw us off and made this strapless frock a miss.
A dash of forest green! Amanda Peet rocked a shade we hadn't seen yet on the Emmys red carpet in the form of a pretty, pleated design with bow sleeves. Not only was the hue gorgeous but we loved the way she infused the look with another dose of color with that red lip.
Hoda Kotb looked lovely in this soft, pale pink confection! From the halter neckline to the mermaid-style hem, this frock was delicately divine.
Black with a pop of white! Edie Falco rocked this black strapless creation, which featured a tiny dash of white in the form of a flip of the neckline. We liked this fun twist on an otherwise simple black dress.
Regal in Ralph Lauren! Zazie Beetz wore this ombré plum velvet dress from the designer's Fall 2018 50th Anniversary Collection featuring hand-embroidered crystals, beads and stones on its unique neckline and off-the-shoulder straps. She accessorized with even more Ralph Lauren by adding flower chandelier earrings and a woven gold bracelet with citrine and rose diamonds by the designer.
A miss for Megan! Megan Mullally's odd tulip-adorned frock resulted in a fashion nope in our book. From the sheer sleeves to the button detailing to the massive floral designs, there were a lot of things wrong with this getup — though we did appreciate her perfectly matching clutch.
Holland Taylor also opted for red and green floral details, but with more success than Megan Mullally. The actress' long-sleeved black frock with red flowers and leaves running down the sides just had a more subtle floral feel. She also nailed the matching clutch, selecting red instead of green.
Angela Sarafyan brought the glamour on Emmy night. The "Westworld" actress donned this beautiful black ball gown by Christian Siriano, which featured hundreds of tiny studded embellishments that made her dress sparkle on the red carpet.
Trevor Noah cleaned up nicely for the Primetime Emmys on Sept. 17. The TV host donned a dapper black tuxedo by Musika Frere and opted for a classic black bow tie.
