The CMT Music Awards are here, and it's time to check out the fashion! From the good to the bad and the downright ugly, we're rounding up the fashion hits and misses from one of country music's biggest nights, starting with a polarizing pick by Kelsea Ballerini! The country star put a new twist on the crop top look at the CMT Music Awards, opting to rock her sparkly, spaghetti strap top with a pair of matching wide-legged trousers by Brandon Maxwell. We loved the unique take on the two piece trend, but there was one element that threw off the whole ensemble. Keep reading to see that and the rest of the best and worst fashion from the night!

Carrie Underwood let her elaborate dress do most of the talking at the CMT Music Awards, opting for sleek, straight hair, streamlined earrings and simple — yet still stunning — makeup! We loved the star's nude lip and her subtle shimmery eye makeup.
Did Darius Rucker know he was at an award show? The country star donned what seems to be a t-shirt, bomber jacket, trousers and some snakeskin cowboy boots on the CMT Music Awards gray carpet, leaving a lot to be desired.
One of our favorite looks of the night? That goes to the darling Danielle Bradbery, who rocked this edgy little white dress! The minidress not only had a funky hemline, but also had detached long sleeves that featured embellishments down the arm. That level of detail deserves a closer look!
Up close it's easier to see the intricate embellishments in Danielle Bradbery's white frock, comprised of pearls and other jewels. We loved the way she added a pop of color with her red lip and rocked loose waves to keep this CMT Music Awards ensemble look effortlessly cool.
We're pretty used to seeing bad fashion on the red carpet, but Nico Tortorella nearly left us speechless with this one! The "Younger" star showed up at the CMT Music Awards in this tan velvet suit, sans undershirt, plus a cowboy hat! Honorable mentions for odd accessories going to what might possibly be a puka shell necklace layered with other necklaces and a pair of shiny black boots.
Looking good, Kelly Clarkson! The "The Voice" coach donned this gorgeous, long sleeved black dress at the big event, which featured jeweled embellishments at the shoulder and the waist, a slit up the front and a glamorous train. One element of her look we weren't obsessed with? Those massive earrings! Let's take a closer look….
Though we loved Kelly Clarkson's gorgeous black gown, we weren't fans of those oversized earrings! The giant dangly design took away from the pretty embellishments along the collar and waist of her dress, and her wild eye makeup also detracted from an otherwise glamorous fashion moment.
Leon Bridges went for a quirky getup at the CMT Music Awards, but his selection of a red and black track suit paired with dress shoes and a sparkly black silver dress shirt underneath missed the mark.
We have a soft spot for sparkly jumpsuits, so when "Nashville" star Kaitlin Doubleday showed up on the gray carpet in this amazing sleeveless silver design by Georges Chakra we were starry-eyed! The jumpsuit featured sheer netting, while silver sparkles seemed to float along the bodice and down the legs of the flashy, fun outfit.
The men certainly didn't pull their weight in the fashion department at the CMT Music Awards! Kane Brown showed up in a Canadian tuxedo — a denim jacket paired with ripped jeans. The black t-shirt kept things too casual for an award show setting, while the funky gray sneakers cemented this look as a miss.
It wasn't just Kane Brown who opted for a Canadian tuxedo! His girlfriend, Katelyn Jae, also rocked all denim, opting for a strapless denim jumpsuit and nude heels. Maybe they were attempting to recreate Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake's iconic matching denim moment from the 2001 American Music Awards? Whatever the reason, these looks landed among the misses.
Karen Fairchild had a little wardrobe malfunction on the CMT Music Awards carpet — you can see her Spanx! The Little Big Town star donned this short and impossibly shiny minidress, complete with cutouts and long sleeves, which showed off the leg of her undergarments. Even without the slip, we wouldn't have been fans of this silver frock, which looked more like armor than country couture. The one part of her ensemble we did love? Her clutch! See it up close next!
Karen Fairchild did one thing right when it came to her CMT Music Awards getup! She brought this adorable tiny guitar-shaped clutch!
Kimberly Schlapman faired much better than band member Karen Fairchild! The Little Big Town member donned this stunning strapless textured jumpsuit on the CMT Music Awards carpet. We loved the teal shade and the layered necklaces Kimberly added to complete the look!
Jennifer Nettles opted for pajama-like couture at the CMT Music Awards! The country crooner donned this puzzling black and pale pink piece, which featured silver embellished sleeves and detailing down the bodice, but came off looking more like a negligee than award show ensemble.
Ready for summer! We loved RaeLynn's all-white getup, which nearly matched her platinum hair! From the sheer netted shirt underneath to the embellishments along the sleeves of her suit jacket to the selection of shorts over pants, this crisp look was the perfect late spring selection!
Canadian country star Lindsay Ell looked like a walking wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen in this little black leather look. She rocked this strapless minidress, which featured a zipper down the front, with a pair of silver heels — but the positioning of the zipper at the neckline made us a little nervous! Yikes! Lindsay Ell's dress looks like it could unzip at any moment! Aside from the unfortunate frock, we didn't love the star's messy hairstyle and smokey eye combination.
Though Lindsey Vonn is an odd attendee at the CMT Music Awards, she sure showed up in style! The athlete wore this beautiful red one-shoulder gown, which featured plenty of cutouts, a fitted skirt and a delicate, dainty train.
There seems to be a rampant red carpet trend of wearing dress shoes sans socks these days, and Dylan Scott hopped on board! By adding loafers to his untucked white dress shirt and cropped pale pink pants, Dylan made his already messy look a miss.
Lauren Alaina arrived in style at the CMT Music Awards, rocking this pretty pale frock by John Paul Ataker. The gown, which featured one ruffled sleeve and an asymmetrical hemline that led to a glamorous train, was complimented perfectly by all the elements of gold Lauren added to the mix. From the delicate gold belt along the waist to the clutch with its gold fixtures to those gorgeous gold-studded pumps — we just loved this look!
"Nashville" star Clare Bowen opted for a confounding combo on the CMT Music Awards gray carpet. We'll give her points for her shoe selection being on theme for the country music show, but her delicate white lace dress would have looked much better with a pair of heels. Luke Bryan must have had a heads up on the carpet color at the CMT Music Awards! The star matched, opting for a dark gray suit jacket and dress shirt, paired with black pants and shiny black shoes for a sleek look.
Brooke Hogan served up some mermaid vibes on the CMT Awards gray carpet, donning this slinky blue number. Though the shade was pretty, we weren't fans of the gown's nearly sheer design.
Carly Pearce had an interesting take on the menswear trend, opting for a black suit-jacket style dress. The long sleeved jacket-like minidress featured faux pockets, lapels and buttons, just like the real thing! Another suit jacket dress! Jillian Jacqueline was the next country crooner to arrive in the trendy style, and we loved her take on the menswear look even more than the last! Jillian's silk variety featured a bold, deep purple shade with a crimson floral print, and her white clutch's clasp was nearly the exact same crimson shade. She finished off the look with funky, fiery red heels that added the perfect pop of color, complimenting the darker shades of the dress flawlessly.
Country star Cassadee Pope went for an asymmetrical metallic look at the CMT Music Awards, but we weren't huge fans of this minidress. With its one sleeve, midriff baring cutouts and jagged hemline the dress was just trying to do too much. But we did love her hot pink suede pumps!
We love when guys think outside the box when it comes to red carpet fashion, and Garrett Hedlund did just that! The actor rocked this royal blue suit, which was unique enough, but it's what he put underneath that made this outfit interesting! Let's take a closer look…
Garrett Hedlund didn't just put a boring dress shirt underneath his fun colored suit! Instead he opted for this funky multicolored garment, which featured a black collar with white piping. Though the colors were a funky combination, they actually worked well together and gave us a refreshingly stylish moment on the CMT Awards gray carpet.
Stephanie Quayle arrived looking ready for a springtime award show! Decked out in this strapless, high-low confection, Stephanie's floral printed dress was the perfect selection for late spring. And those bright yellow heels made things even cheerier!
This is actually impressive! Riley Green not only rocked a Canadian tuxedo to the CMT Music Awards… he managed to wear three different shades of denim! Yep, the country singer wore a pale denim shirt with dark denim jeans, and topped it all off with a light gray denim jacket! His brown belt and faded gray boots just made this outfit more of a conundrum, and ensured that Riley was among the fashion misses.
Hoda Kotb looked pretty stylish for her night out at the CMT Music Awards! The host donned black leather pants, a silk blazer and white top. Upping the cool factor? Those funky heels!
Shawna Thompson gave us futuristic mermaid vibes at the CMT Music Awards… and we're not sure it was a good thing! The Thompson Square singer donned this sparkly green mermaid-style gown, which featured a high neck and long sleeves, but the sheer paneling and gathered train made this design more costume-like than couture.
Chrissy Metz went for a black and silvery number at the CMT Music Awards, sporting this pretty long sleeved frock. We loved the gown's ruffly hemline and how she accessorized with strappy sandals.
Almost, but not quite! At first glance, Russell Dickerson's CMT Music Awards look started off strong — all black on top and pants with a fun floral addition. But it was his shoe selection that messed it all up…. white sneakers? Really, Russell? Better luck next time!
