It's fashion's biggest night! For those obsessed with the glamorous world of couture, the stars did not disappoint at the 2017 Met Gala! With this Lady Gaga-esque look, she definitely embraced this year's theme — Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between — but also solidified herself as a fashion miss in the process.

Can we just crown Rihanna the queen of the Met Gala already?! The star did not disappoint at this year's big event, showing up in this insanely detailed creation by the designer being honored, Comme des Garcons. Though literally no one but Rihanna could have pulled this look off, we bow down to the couture queen's flawless execution of this intricately layered work of art by Rei Kawakubo.

Now that's an entrance! In an outfit that would only work at the Met Gala, Priyanka Chopra made waves by showing up in this dramatic trench coat, which was actually a gown by Ralph Lauren Collection. Sizzling in Stella! Though we expected nothing less from Gisele Bundchen, the supermodel slayed the cream and blue carpet in this sleek, silver Stella McCartney gown. This glimpse from the side shows off the gorgeous train and cutouts at the waist, but the most beautiful feature of the dress might be the back. That's up next!

With a dangerously low-cut back that only a supermodel could pull off, Gisele Bundchen's Stella McCartney creation even stunned from behind. We loved the way Gisele paired the beautiful gown with a no-fuss, yet simultaneously perfectly tousled ponytail! A+!

And the award for the strangest accessories at the Met Gala goes to… Jaden Smith! The actor wore a sleek Louis Vuitton getup, complete with a trench coat, slacks and a heeled boot, but it was what he added to the ensemble that eclipsed the all-black look…

The star recently had to cut his hair for a film role, so naturally he decided to tote around his old hair on the cream and blue carpet… which has to be one of the strangest additions to a Met Gala outfit of all time. Don't worry, Jaden had one more surprise up his Louis Vuitton sleeve…

Let us see your grill! Aside from carrying around his own hair, Jaden Smith also accessorized with a grill in his mouth like it was 2005. Not so avant-garde, Jaden!

Dakota Johnson executed the theme flawlessly in this eccentric Gucci gown, embracing Comme des Garcons' love of architectural, artistic fashion. The black creation featured floral shaped embellishments on the sleeves and down the full skirt and train and was accompanied by structured bands on the sleeves and waist. Even better than her beautiful Gucci gown? Dakota Johnson's pretty, peach-hued makeup. The star kept the attention on the couture when it came to her beauty look, and kept her hair equally understated in a loose, casual updo.

Kate Bosworth's Tory Burch gown looked like a lame attempt at Dakota Johnson's Gucci number. Unfortunately for Kate, the frilly back number couldn't hold a candle to the intricate detailing of the other couture creation.

An unexpected pop of color! Blake Lively dazzled at the Met Gala in this custom-made golden Atelier Versace design, which featured a surprise dash of feather accents in vibrant shades of blue on the train. We're sure this one would make Blake's iconic "Gossip Girl" character Serena van der Woodsen proud!

It wasn't one of our favorite looks of the night, but we can't deny Bella Hadid looked fabulous in next to nothing on the cream and blue carpet! The star flaunted her supermodel shape in this skintight catsuit by Alexander Wang. The one-piece couture creation was covered in diamonds and had a dangerously low-cut back… let's just say the view from behind is nearly NSFW!

A supermodel in shimmering chainmail? Only at the Met! Kendall Jenner showed up wearing the slinkiest dress of the night, a dazzling La Perla Haute Couture design. The gorgeous model rocked this barely-there creation by the high-end lingerie line along with a pair of stiletto Louboutins. This one deserves a closer look…

It's definitely work taking a better look at the impeccable detailing on Kendall Jenner's La Perla Haute Couture gown. The cutout along the bodice is one of the most dramatic we saw all night (or possibly ever!), leaving little to the imagination and making it impossible to wear any extra La Perla undergarments. Extra kudos for the artfully messy, wet, wavy hairstyle and bright red lip!

Not to be outdone by her big sis, Kylie Jenner hit the Met Gala carpet in this insanely intricate Atelier Versace creation. The beaded rose gold gown achieved the goal of the night — embracing avant-garde style — by featuring eye-catching 3D floral accents. And the beaded cape made up of Swarovski-embellished fringe set this look apart from other seemingly sheer looks of the night (cough, Bella Hadid, cough). Next we'll get a better look at those flower accents… and that hairstyle!

Close up, it's easier to see the impressive level of detail on Kylie Jenner's Atelier Versace gown. The makeup queen didn't detract too much from the intricate dress, opting to keep her makeup subdued and rock a platinum bob.

Yikes! We're accustom to Gigi Hadid stunning on the red carpet, but this Tommy Hilfiger dress fell flat. The supermodel donned this bizarre creation, which we will admit does attempt to address the event's theme with its outlandish silhouette, and landed herself among the misses. The nude look featured a tulle skirt on one side, while the other was comprised solely of a minidress that showed off Gigi's thigh-high fishnets.

Cara is committed! Cara Delevingne scored a hit by fully embracing the concept of experimental fashion at this year's Met Gala, opting not only to wear a futuristic sparkly silver pantsuit by Chanel, but also by really dedicating herself when it came to her hair… or lack thereof. Cara Delevingne truly embraced the idea of edgy fashion. Need proof? She painted her head silver! Yes — painted! The supermodel, who recently shaved off her hair, opted to decorate her head with silver and crystals to match the embellishments on her Chanel suit. Now that is dedication!

We're used to Diane Kruger taking our breath away on the red carpet, so when the stylish star's fashion falls flat, it's always a surprise. Her white Prada gown, which was studded with gold and crystal clusters, would have been a hit on any other carpet, but when Hollywood's elite are pushing style boundaries, we expect more out of one of the town's top fashionistas.

A beauty in blue! Jennifer Lopez uncharacteristically covered up in this glamorous blue gown. The Valentino creation featured a high neck and beautiful draping and her hair and makeup were equally flawless for the big night. A better look is up next…

Though there was a lack of fabric when it came to the silver and gold gown's odd plunging neckline, there was certainly an excess in other places, resulting in the strange way the fabric gathered and puckered down the skirt. Upon closer inspection, the neckline on Sofia Richie's Topshop dress looks completely uneven, verifying the ill-fitting nature of the couture creation. Her slicked-back locks and minimal makeup would have been better suited to a gown that let them shine, and we can't help but be bored by the choker and layered necklace selection. Sorry, Sofia! It's definitely a miss from us!

Joan Smalls proved that Topshop's looks weren't all bad at the 2017 Met Gala! The model donned this gorgeous red halter gown with a chainlink border, complete with a plunging neckline and sky-high slit on the right side, but it was her beauty look that kept this edgy.

Comme des Garcons is known for combining masculine and feminine details, and Emmy Rossum certainly embraced that spirit with this Carolina Herrera ensemble. The star impressed in this look, comprised of black menswear-inspired pants and a feminine top complete with an oversized bow at the hip.

Between her dress and her outdated blue eyeshadow, Katie Holmes seriously underwhelmed at the Met Gala. The star opted to wear a design by close friend Zac Posen, which resulted in this off-the-shoulder, ruffled deep blue bore. More offensive than the lack of adventure with the dress? Lily Collins, is that you? The star was almost unrecognizable at the Met Gala, but we're worried she got confused by this year's theme. Lily looked like she was embracing the punk theme of 2013 with her blunt black bob and edgy black-and-pink gown, and strayed far from this year's actual theme of Rei Kawakubo and Comme des Garcons. The Met Gala is a great opportunity to push the envelope, and Lily Collins did just that when it came to her beauty look. She rocked a super-short, jet-black bob, complete with tiny bangs, and opted for dramatically made-up eyelashes and a deep plum lip.

We get that we're seeing a whole new Kim Kardashian West on the Met Gala carpet this year, but we couldn't help but be underwhelmed by her 2017 look. The reality star opted to keep things pared-down and selected this super-simple white Vivienne Westwood off-the-shoulder gown for fashion's biggest night.

Selena Gomez redeemed herself after a major miss on the Met Gala carpet last year with this feminine frock by Coach. Her dreamy pale spaghetti-strap gown featured delicate flower and star-shaped embellishments and had a thigh-high slit on the right side. Next up, her equally lovely hair and makeup!

Sporting a look we saw often during awards season, Selena Gomez rocked a bold hot pink eyeshadow on her lids. She wisely chose to keep the rest of her beauty look simple, letting the outrageous trend stand alone, and kept her hair equally plain, rocking it straight with a center party. She accessorized with a classic, Tiffany & Co. jewels, and, of course, arrived with boyfriend The Weeknd on her arm.

Miranda Kerr went a little too cutesy, especially considering the Met Gala's theme called for edge. The supermodel selected this strapless Oscar de la Renta ballgown, which featured a dramatic full skirt, and wore her hair in a slicked-back updo. And though we weren't fans of the dress for the occasion, no one can knock how Miranda accessorized! That's next!

Dripping in Cartier diamonds sounds like a dream, but for Miranda Kerr at the 2017 Met Gala, it was a reality! The star wore this jaw-dropping bracelet comprised of mounds of diamonds and a pair of equally dazzling earrings.

Reese Witherspoon in custom Mugler? Yes, please! The star made a triumphant return to the Met Gala carpet in this dramatic blue-and-black design, which featured one bold, structured sleeve. She accessorized with Tiffany & Co. jewels, and kept with the theme by sporting her hair in an equally structured funky updo.

On the one hand, at least Julianne Moore went with a funky silhouette to embrace the ideals of Rei Kawakubo and Comme des Garcons! But on the other… what was she thinking?! The star wore this strange feathery frock by Calvin Klein, which featured somewhat of a potato-sack silhouette, to fashion's biggest night.

Yes, Kerry Washington! The "Scandal" star fully executed this year's theme in her Michael Kors gown, which featured all-sized sequins and studs, cutouts and a variety of patterns. Paired with her blunt bangs and short black bob, the stylish star completely transformed for the fashionable occasion.

Get ready to see a lot more red! Many embraced the avant-garde theme by opting for the fiery shade, including Emma Roberts. The actress rocked this pretty, form-fitting Diane Von Furstenberg satin gown, which featured delicate lace-bordered straps and a lengthy train. Extra points for the fun pop of color she added with the pink stole!

Color-coordinated twins! We were delighted to see Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen grace the Met Gala carpet, and in fabulous corresponding looks, no less! The twins embraced their bohemian-style roots, with Mary-Kate selecting a beige, embroidered lace gown while Ashley opted for a lacy white look. It was their additions to their complementary gowns that set the twins apart, with Mary-Kate giving a glimpse of black briefs under her lace and accessorizing with beads, and Ashley rocking one of the coolest coats of the night — this neon fur-trimmed embroidered jacket.

After previously slamming the event, we expected Gwyneth Paltrow to return to the Met Gala with a more exciting ensemble. Though her one-shouldered, pale pink Calvin Klein gown was certainly pretty, it was equally underwhelming for such a high-fashion event.

No pants, no problem! Karlie Kloss complied with this year's theme by rocking a menswear-inspired look with feminine flair. The supermodel selected this Carolina Herrera blouse and jacket, which she rocked without adding any pants, and finished the look off with Christian Louboutin pumps.

Emily Ratajkowski's Marc Jacobs gown was pretty but underwhelming in the midst of major fashion moments at the Met Gala. We're used to seeing much more interesting silhouettes on the model than this simple blue-and-green sequined gown.

Ruth Negga was one of fashion's darlings during awards season earlier this year, so it's no surprise that she was comfortable experimenting at the year's biggest fashion event. Ruth selected this funky, high-necked, floor-length cape-and-skirt combo by Valentino, which featured a muted print and looked completely different from the back. See for yourself!

We're sort of obsessed with the fact that Ruth Negga's cape is unrecognizable from behind! The Valentino design featured a bold green print down the back, resulting in one of our favorite surprises of the night!

A vision in black! Victoria's Secret model Candice Swanepoel brought the drama in this full-skirted strapless black number. We loved the gorgeous gown, her slicked-back hairstyle and her extra dramatic eye makeup, which all combined to make this a simple yet impossibly glam look.

Well, this look is certainly… eye-catching! We're having a hard time thinking of something nice to say about Thandie Newton's bizarre Met Gala ensemble. The star's custom red Monse creation centered around a drawstring feature (yuck!) and was dusted with Swarovski crystals. And if the dress wasn't offensive enough, she topped it off with an even stranger accessory…

That hat! Thandie Newton topped off her Monse look with this excessive, obnoxious floral headpiece, which, though massive, surprisingly didn't top the height of her teased updo.

Oh, Lena Dunham. Never known for being a fashionista, Lena continued her streak among the Wonderwall fashion misses with this gargantuan one-shouldered Elizabeth Kennedy disaster.

From one "Girls" girl to another! Allison Williams fared much better than her former co-star, opting for this classic black-and-white, long-sleeved Diane Von Furstenberg gown. She accessorized with equally timeless Cartier jewels and a bright red lip to finish off her pretty Met Gala look.

There we go! Zoe Kravitz went for a funky fashion moment in this pink-and-black Oscar de la Renta design. The pale pink satin column-style gown featured a massive cape covered in interesting black detailing, which made for a look that certainly channeled edgy high-fashion.

In a sea of red, Rose Byrne's Ralph Lauren gown didn't make a huge splash. Though the dress might have been a hit on any other night, it blended in and bored among the dozens of stars in the same shade. The gown featured a deep-cut neckline, cutouts at the waist and a full skirt but just didn't push the envelope enough to get much attention at the stylish event.

Surprisingly, we loved Hailey Baldwin's tiered two-piece confection by Carolina Herrera. The model's darling strapless crop top and floor-length tulle skirt combination paired well with her updo, and her accessories elevated the look. Let's see those next…

Ansel Elgort was one of the best dressed men of the night in head-to-toe Tom Ford. The actor sported a white tuxedo jacket, white dress shirt and black bow tie and topped things off with Tiffany & Co. accessories.

Well, at least she covered up more than last year! Madonna arrived at the 2017 Met Gala in this painful Moschino look made up of banded camouflage and accessorized with an even uglier addition — leather over-the-elbow gloves.

It's Mandy like we've never seen her! The Met Gala is for experimenting, and Mandy Moore certainly took that to heart! The star wore this Michael Kors Collection dress, which featured a cutout on the left sleeve and feathered detailing, but it was her makeup that really made the look interesting. See it up close…

Going for that all-over shadow look, Mandy Moore selected an electric lavender shade for around her eyes and added an extra sparkle by placing crystals in the corners of her eyes. We also enjoyed her funky earrings, which featured one dangling piece and one stud, and her dramatic, sleek center-parted hairstyle.

Even the men rocked red at the 2017 Met Gala! Rami Malek went all-red in this wool and mohair tuxedo by Dior. He even threw in some dashes of black with his leather boots and a matching leather flower brooch for a dapper look.

Halle Berry heeded the Comme des Garcons theme by rocking this custom-made black Atelier Versace jumpsuit that was dripping in gold scalloped detailing. The sheer beaded one-piece ensemble showed off the 50-year-old star's phenomenal figure, and she kept her hair tied back to make sure that the spotlight stayed on the crazy detailing of her gown.

Daisy Ridley opted for this awkward, high-low Oscar de la Renta gown. The matronly dress featured a bulky train and although we weren't fans of the look, we did appreciate her hair and makeup. Let's take a closer look…

Daisy Ridley's beauty was on-point at the Met Gala. The star rocked winged eyeliner, a coral lip and a severe topknot, which was a nice nod to the theme since Comme des Garcons is known for embracing severe, sharp shapes. We also appreciated her minimal accessories: Daisy opted for dangling diamond earrings by Nirav Modi and went sans necklace as not to upstage that loud Oscar de la Renta dress.

A pop of color (that's not red)! We loved Lupita Nyong'o's bright coral Prada look, which included stunning hand cut organza floral detailing around the neckline. The stylish star accessorized the strapless gown with just the right amount of Tiffany & Co. jewels for maximum impact.

We love a good pocket moment! Paris Jackson picked Calvin Klein to rock on the cream and blue carpet at the Met Gala, and we adored her youthful, edgy ensemble. The dress featured a tiny, fun cutout at the waist and a full skirt and paired perfectly with those simple strappy heels.

Props to Claire Danes for going along with the theme, but trying to decipher this Monse creation is quite a lot of work. The various shapes and cutouts and ruffles, combined with the touch of both the feminine and the masculine, certainly pays homage to Comme des Garcons, but we think she could have embraced the theme in a less messy way. The mismatched lengths on the white blouse's layers distracted from what otherwise could have been a sharp, unique fashion moment.

Cinderella chic! Elle Fanning looked as pretty as a princess at the 2017 Met Gala. The beauty donned this ethereal light blue Miu Miu creation, which featured an empire waistline and a beautiful train. Next, a closer look!

Elle Fanning topped off her fairy tale look with a gorgeous jeweled headband. We loved the way she kept her makeup simple and went sans necklace to keep the spotlight on her stunning Miu Miu gown.

This is the Met Gala, not the Academy Awards, Jessica Chastain! The star, who mainly plays it safe on awards show red carpets, failed to take a chance on fashion at the 2017 event. The star's pale yellow off-the-shoulder Prada gown was one of the most boring looks of the night.

Next up? Nicki Minaj in… H&M?! The rapper collaborated with the fast-fashion chain for this look, which we were about to dismiss as an instant miss before noting that her belt is actually fashioned to look like the honoree of the night, Comme des Garcons' Rei Kawakubo. Nice touch, Nicki! That cool detail elevated the otherwise questionable satin kimono getup. Let's see the dramatic train from the back next…

Nicki Minaj certainly made a statement while walking up the Met steps! The star's red-and-black H&M creation featured an exceptionally long train that dragged many steps behind the rapper at all times.

Sarah Paulson always pushes fashion boundaries on red carpets, so we're disappointed by her Met Gala appearance this year. The actress could have brought the avant-garde drama, but instead donned this satin blue Prada design, which made an attempt at edgy with its black-and-red ostrich- and marabou-feathered sleeves, but lost us with its underwhelming sheath gown style.

Behati Prinsloo returned to the Met Gala carpet in Topshop this year, selecting this pale pink, pretty fitted gown. Though it was somewhat of a snooze, she squeaked by with a hit due to the gown's fun strappy detailing and the way she styled her hair in those gorgeous Old Hollywood waves.

Way too busy! We hated this geometric gown on Elizabeth Banks. The black-and-white fitted Michael Kors creation featured so much print that it nearly made us dizzy while critiquing it!

Just the right amount of edge! Riley Keough rocked chains on her black-and-red sequined Louis Vuitton gown. We loved the unexpected touch of the zippered front on the long-sleeved dress and the way she paired the look with a no-muss, no-fuss ponytail.

We expected to see burgeoning fashionista Sophie Turner in something more youthful, but the "Game of Thrones" star instead opted for a matronly nude-and-white Louis Vuitton frock for this year's Met Gala. At least she added a slight edge with her accessories. Keep reading to see them…

Adhering to the Rei Kawakubo and Comme des Garcons theme? Hailee Steinfeld! The star opted for this Vera Wang ensemble made up of extreme sleeves on a shoulderless jacket over super-short shorts. The dramatic cuts and lines of the couture creation, paired with the structured topknot, kept things very avant-garde.

Who knew Ralph Lauren could pull off avant-garde? Lily Aldridge showed off the designer's attempt at edgy, out-of-the-box fashion with her 2017 Met Gala look. The supermodel's white gown included funky, unconventional cutouts on the bodice and at the waist and featured a circular cape. Lily Aldridge rocked a veil — an odd accessory choice that we actually saw a lot of on the Met Gala carpet. Hers was custom-made by her hairstylist, Bryce Scarlett, and covered the bottom half of her famous face.

A boring patterned minidress at the Met Gala? We're surprised Jennifer Connelly didn't take more risks on the cream and blue carpet. The actress wore this Louis Vuitton design that looked more like something from a ready-to-wear collection than couture.

Ashley Graham put plenty of thought into her Met Gala gown, collaborating with H&M to create something that vibed with the year's theme while simultaneously embracing her signature curves. The result? This cool creation, which featured a fitted frock with plenty of red organza ruffled detailing, that landed the model amongst the hits of the night.

This woman can do no wrong! Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour arrived on the carpet in Chanel. The fashionista donned this stunning short-sleeved, sparkling creation, which featured a feathered level and ended in embellished tulle.

Brad Goreski looked sharp in Burberry while posing on the steps ahead of the Met Gala. The celebrity stylist donned a printed dark blue suit jacket over a crisp white dress shirt and black pants. The patent leather shoes and black bow tie were a nice touch, but it's that unique jacket that we need a closer look at!

Though it didn't really match the avant-garde theme, we loved Brad Goreski's departure from basic menswear with this printed Burberry jacket. He clearly dresses the stars and critiques fashion for a living!

Mindy Kaling's Prabal Gurung look was a snoozefest at the 2017 Met Gala. The star sported an off-the-shoulder gown that featured sequins on the top half and fringe on the bottom, but it was the dark, subdued blue shade that cemented the look as a miss.
