September is winding down! Get ready for fall with Wonderwall.com as we round up the best and worst looks of the month, starting with this pick… Taylor Swift kept things edgy in this sparkly black Michael Kors Collection gown at the Nashville Songwriter Awards on Sept. 20. With one long sleeve and one sleeveless side, a high neck and an asymmetrical cutout at the waist, there was a lot to take in, making this black dress anything but boring. The high slit in the ankle-length skirt finished things off, making this one of our favorite looks on the superstar in years. Aquazzura sandals completed the stellar ensemble.

Yikes! It's a little too early for Christmas wrapping, but that didn't stop Gabrielle Union from dressing like a gaudy gold present at a screening of "The Redeem Team" In Los Angeles on Sept. 22. The Valentino combo of a minidress and coat in the same matching shiny fabric gave us serious tinsel vibes — we just weren't fans of the metallic red carpet moment.
_
A Celine dream! Margot Robbie looked like a glam goddess at the "Amsterdam" premiere in London on Sept. 21 in this sleek Celine number with cutouts down the bodice and a cape detail that flowed behind her down the red carpet. Her jewels were just as captivating…
_
Margot Robbie added MESSIKA jewels to complete her gorgeous Celine getup.
_
Wacky proportions are never our favorite, so the Alexandre Vauthier number Jurnee Smollett wore in New York City on Sept. 23 was not a hit for us. Though we loved the color — that vibrant blue! — the comically oversized jacket paired with Bermuda shorts made for a very funky silhouette that felt like a kid borrowing clothes out of their mom's closet. We did, however, love the addition of a turtleneck and those strappy sandals.
_
Naomie Harris wowed in Galvan London at an event for Sotheby's in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France, on Sept. 16. The beauty embraced the changing of seasons with this warm fall shade — a rich bronzy color — then topped it with a stunning necklace and gold bracelets to give it a standout edge.
_
Mariah Carey embraced the sheer skirt trend in this incredibly sparkly number at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City on Sept. 24. Though we appreciated her dedication to shimmer — look at the diamonds she added to her already all-over sequins — we weren't wild about the way this skirt flowed into a semi-sheer design.
_
Gemma Chan scored a style hit in Louis Vuitton. It's no surprise, since the beauty is one of the fashion house's ambassadors, but this stunning pale blue feathered gown she wore to the "Don't Worry Darling" premiere in New York City on Sept. 19 blew us away. The sleeveless frock included a black bow detail at the waist and even featured a feathered train that trailed behind her.
_
Emily Ratajkowski served up chic off-duty model style during Milan Fashion Week in Italy on Sept. 22 rocking a black long-sleeved mock turtleneck crop top and low-slung Versace trousers. Simple black sandals and rectangular shades rounded out this look.
_
Ana de Armas wore this disappointing Brunello Cucinelli ensemble ahead of an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" in New York City on Sept. 19. The look — a three-piece suit in a shiny gunmetal gray fabric — felt very matronly on the young star, and those black heels didn't do her any favors either.
_
Lily James has been slaying in Versace looks all year, and the dress she wore to the Versace show in Milan on Sept. 23 was another winner. The star rocked this LBD that was anything but boring thanks to an an edgy asymmetrical cutout down the center. She accessorized with a chunky gold necklace and bracelet and added strappy black pointy-toe heels that kept the all-black theme going.
_
No one can say Priyanka Chopra is afraid of color. The star sported this wild tie-dye pantsuit at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City on Sept. 25, adding crisp white sneakers to this insane all-over rainbow look.
_
Salma Hayek was a vision in glamorous Gucci at the Kering Foundation's Caring for Women dinner in New York City on Sept. 15. This evening gown included tulle-trimmed sleeves that flowed into a shimmering black floor-length skirt that ended in a sparkling hem. Her accessories — a diamond and onyx necklace and a puffy bag — elevated the whole look.
_
Gigi Hadid made the case for Converse sneakers while out and about during Milan Fashion Week in Italy on Sept. 22. The beauty wore the classic shoes in a tan shade with a burgundy jumpsuit featuring a white T-shirt underneath for a laid-back look.
_
Vanessa Hudgens embraced a Versace houndstooth print at the fashion house's Milan show on Sept. 23. We loved the coordinates — an oversized blazer and tiny miniskirt — but when paired with that shimmery silver crop top, this look lost us.
_
Serena Williams looked pretty in pink at the Michael Kors show during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 14. The star rocked a hot pink pantsuit with a bubblegum pink blouse underneath and infused some shimmer with silver strappy sandals.
_
Upon first glimpse, we thought Katie Holmes was wearing a long denim skirt. But nope, those are just extremely wide-legged jeans. The star sported the unfortunate pants pick at the Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women's Filmmaker Program Luncheon in New York City on Sept. 20, adding a white top and an oversized printed cardigan to complete the casual ensemble. Square-toed flats and a metallic Chanel bag completed the look.
_
Margot Robbie donned this dreamy Chanel number at the "Amsterdam" premiere in New York City on Sept. 18. The look was actually two pieces — a strapless white bustier top and a tiered white lace skirt that combined gave off an ethereal vibe.
_
Yep. This is what Pete Davidson wore to the New York City premiere of his movie "Meet Cute" on Sept. 20. Needless to say, he scored a fashion miss with this white sweatshirt, green sweatpants and shiny sneakers combo.
_
Though she didn't wear sneakers, we weren't much wilder about Kaley Cuoco's chunky sandals at the New York City premiere of her film "Meet Cute" on Sept. 20. The star paired her funky shoe choice with an even funkier dress — this oversized shimmery Dolce & Gabbana blazer-style mini.
_
Camila Mendes rocked a set of lime green Versace coordinates at the Los Angeles premiere of her film "Do Revenge" on Sept. 14. We don't typically love the full-gloves look, but the edgy cut of this top paired with the tapered long skirt made it work. Metallic sandals finished off this youthful ensemble.
_
We adored the custom Alexander McQueen gown that Julia Roberts wore to her "Ticket To Paradise" premiere in London on Sept. 7. The Chantilly lace confection included crystal graffiti motifs with a very personal touch — nods to her family! Let's take a closer look…
_
Among the embellishments on Julia Roberts' Alexander McQueen gown? Her children's initials, their birth years, the year she and husband Danny Moder got married and their initials together hand-embroidered in silver bullion, metal thread, beads and sequins. The words "love" and "hope" also appear, adding yet another sweet touch. She topped off the frock with a cute cropped blazer.
_
Ana de Armas picked the perfect gown for the premiere of her film "Blonde" at the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 8. The actress paid homage to her character — Marilyn Monroe — with this stunning pink Louis Vuitton look that's sweetly inspired by Marilyn's "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" dress. Adding to the glam? Her jewels…

"Dune" heartthrob Timothee Chalamet turned heads on the red carpet at the premiere of his film "Bones and All" during the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 2, arriving in this ruby red Haider Ackermann jumpsuit. Though we appreciate the fashion risk, we fell firmly in the "no" camp when we saw this look from behind. Keep reading to see it from another angle…
_
Timothee Chalamet's Haider Ackermann jumpsuit included a halter-style neckline and an entirely open back thanks to the sleeveless cut. Though it certainly made a splash on the red carpet, we're putting this one in the miss category.
_
Yikes! Rachel Brosnahan sported this bizarre combo — a pink corset-style top with a low-slung pinstriped pencil skirt — at the photocall for her film "Dead for a Dollar" during the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 6. The pieces just did not work together, and just like last month, we were shocked to learn they're from Versace.
_
Fab in floral! Zooey Deschanel wowed in an intricate Dolce & Gabbana design at the photocall for her film "Dreamin' Wild" during the Venice International Film Festival in Italy on Sept. 7. The short-sleeved knee-length confection included some impressive floral embroidery and embellishments that deserve a closer look…
_
Look at those floral details! Zooey Deschanel's white laser-cut lace dress from Dolce & Gabbana looked like a work of art up close, which is probably why she pulled it out of the fashion house's 2012 Archive collection. Next up? A look at the detailing on her accessories, which rivaled her dress…
_

_
We thought Brad Pitt might have snapped out of his uber-casual style era at the "Blonde" premiere during the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 8, but one look at his footwear and we knew we were wrong. The movie star inexplicably paired his suit and bow tie with a pair of black-and-white sneakers.
_
Nope! Cynthia Erivo attended the "Pinocchio" premiere in Los Angeles on Sept. 7 in this John Galliano x Dior disaster. The frock started out with a green-and-yellow ombre pattern before flowing into one of the funkiest skirts we've seen in a while — complete with layers and a center slit. Wild gold Valentino Garavani platform heels cemented this look as a miss.
_
A vision in Valentino red! Vanessa Kirby showed up in style for the photocall for her film "The Son" during the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 7. The three-piece ensemble from Valentino's fall haute couture collection was all created from the same vibrant cherry red fabric with 3D floral embellishments added on the cropped top and at the waist of her midi-length skirt. A collared cape and simple silver strappy sandals rounded out this standout look. It wasn't the only Valentino fashion hit from Vanessa…
_
The Valentino couture confection that Vanessa Kirby wore to the premiere of her film "The Son" during the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 7 channeled Old Hollywood glamour. Her nude gown featured spaghetti straps, sequin embellishments and plenty of feathers at the hemline. A dark red lip and sleek updo upped the drama in a perfect way.
_
It started out so strong! Laura Dern arrived at the premiere of her film "The Son" during the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 7 in this stunning Armani Prive gown plucked right from the runway. The strapless design included crystal embellishments over a navy mesh for an ethereal vibe, but things went awry when she added a cropped sequined jacket. Unfortunately, it didn't get better from other angles…
_
Yep, Laura Dern's sequin-covered jacket was no better from behind. In fact, it had a bizarre open design that just obscured her gorgeous Armani Prive gown.
_
Harry Styles channeled '70s cool with his Venice International Film Festival arrival look on Sept. 5. The pop star-turned-actor turned up in this Gucci ensemble that only he could pull off — a pinstriped blazer and blue bellbottom trousers paired with a low-cut white shirt and a blue printed scarf draped around his neck.
_

_
Gigi Hadid wore pieces from her new clothing line, Guest in Residence, to launch the brand at a special dinner event in New York City on Sept. 6. Unfortunately, we weren't wild about the look — a corset worn over a hot pink cashmere shirt with one off-the-shoulder sleeve, all paired with baggy cream trousers. The one element we loved? The way her bubblegum pink pointy-toe pumps matching the top.
_
It's not Chanel! It's a rare moment when Penelope Cruz sports a designer other than the French fashion house, so it was a treat to see her arrive at the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 6 in this vintage Dolce & Gabbana number. The dreamy white frock from 2011 included thin straps and tiered lace down to the ruffled hemline. Despite breaking the age-old rule that says you shouldn't wear white after Labor Day, we adored this departure from her usual Chanel looks.
_
It's hard to find unique silhouettes on the red carpet, but Cate Blanchett's Schiaparelli haute couture look was a delightful surprise. The fashionista wore the gorgeous design — flared pants and a black velvet corset embellished with hand-painted flowers crafted from organza, molded leather and crepe paper — to the "Tar" premiere during the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 1. Let's take a closer look…
_
A garden on her Schiaparelli getup! Cate Blanchett brought stunning flowers to the red carpet via the border on her velvet corset. Drop diamond earrings completed this A+ ensemble.
_
Florence Pugh can always be counted on for polarizing picks. We wanted to like the Valentino look she wore to the premiere of her film "Don't Worry Darling" at the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 5, but aside from the gorgeous constellation pattern, there wasn't much to love. From the voluminous sleeves to the skirt that opened at the waist, we couldn't get behind the bizarre cut. But one element we did adore? The shoes…
_
Florence Pugh added shoes with just as much personality as her bold Valentino gown — Valentino pumps complete with bows and feathers around her ankle.
_
Phoebe Waller-Bridge brought the last bit of summer to the red carpet at the premiere of "The Banshees of Inisherin" during the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 5, selecting this pale yellow pantsuit from Galvan. _
One look from the Venice International Film Festival we can't stop thinking about? Sadie Sink's dazzling Alexander McQueen design. This one deserves to be seen from another angle…

His Celine Homme ensemble included a floral-embellished cardigan worn atop a vintage band tee, baggy camouflage cargo shorts and ankle boots for an all-over trying-too-hard vibe.
_
Julianne Moore's black Miu Miu column-style gown looked dull from afar. The star wore the spaghetti-strap dress to the premiere of "The Eternal Daughter" during the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 6. Though we first felt a little bored, upon closer inspection, this frock had a lot more personality than previously thought…
_
The buttons! The bow detail at the neckline! Those sparkles! Julianne Moore's Miu Miu design was vindicated up close thanks to plenty of unique details. Beautiful Cartier diamonds added even more shimmer to her red carpet ensemble.
_
