The 2020 BET Awards are almost here! In honor of the annual event on June 28, Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at some of the most memorable fashion from BET Awards past! First up is a stunning look from none other than Beyonce. As to be expected, Queen Bey dressed to impress at the 2009 BET Awards. In addition to being one of the leading nominees at the ceremony — she was up for five awards including female R&B/pop artist of the year and video of the year — she looked incredible! Rihanna arrived at the 2008 BET Awards looking like a pretty neon princess! Her lime green spaghetti-strap ballgown was a color rarely seen on the red carpet, but its tiered ruffled layers made this look fit for music royalty.

Ciara attended the 2019 BET Awards in a stunning blood orange gown by Jean Paul Gaultier. Thanks to its dramatic shoulder pads and delicate chiffon train, the "1, 2 Step" singer was among the evening's best dressed.

Talk about a blast from the past! At the first annual BET Awards in 2001, Eve wore a quintessentially early 2000s ensemble. The white tank, asymmetrical lace top with an exaggerated zipper sleeve, denim capris and denim boots feels like a serious throwback ensemble. At the ceremony that year, Eve took home the award for best female hip-hop artist.

Remember when he was known as Lil' Bow Wow? At the Second Annual BET Awards in 2002, the "Shortie Like Mine" rapper wore a Gucci basketball jersey with matching Gucci-patterned Nikes. He completed the look with a bedazzled "Lil' Bow Wow" necklace and pendant!

Issa Rae was a vision at the 2018 BET Awards. The "Insecure" star and creator wore a multi-colored plunging blazer by Balmain. She finished the funky look with frayed black shorts and a simple pair of strappy heels.

Known for her eccentric style, Doja Cat attended the 2019 BET Awards in a bold pink ensemble. From the knitted gown to the cat ears and flurry of feathers, the "Say So" rapper made quite the fashion statement! 

Lil' Kim definitely should have saved this look for the beach. The rapper wore this green-and-blue paisley-print bikini with a matching coverup to the 2003 BET Awards.

Music legend Mary J. Blige looked like a queen at the 2019 BET Awards. The "Real Love" singer wore a stunning gown by Alberta Ferretti that she paired with a gorgeous statement ring and cuff. That evening, she was the recipient of a lifetime achievement award. 

Gorgeous! Janet Jackson showed off her impressively toned tummy at the 2002 BET Awards in a super-short white long-sleeved crop top with a black skirt. And she added a quintessential 2002 accessory — a belly chain.

Prince rocked his signature eclectic style at the 2010 BET Awards — a white-and-blue flared turtleneck with a sketch of himself printed on the bodice atop flared white pants.

Beyonce attended the 2006 show in this sparkly one-shouldered minidress. The weirdest element of the ensemble? That single fingerless glove! 

Lil Nas X posed for photos on the blue carpet at the 2019 BET Awards in a light blue suit featuring colorful patchwork labels and trouser striping. The "Old Town Road" hitmaker finished the look with a white cowboy hat and cowboy boots. 

We love a monochromatic look! Rapper Bobby Lytes made a bold and beautiful statement when he hit the red carpet at the 2019 BET Awards. The varying textures, fits and shades of pink made for a unique yet incredibly eye-catching ensemble. He completed the look with pink-dyed hair and brows.

Denim dream! Yara Shahidi donned this darling sleeveless Jonathan Simkhai denim dress featuring a large ruffle down the front for the 2017 BET Awards. She finished off her look with fun Jimmy Choo sandals in a darker hue.

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Da Brat! The rapper attended the 2003 BET Awards in this SpongeBob SquarePants-emblazoned getup. She finished off the look with white sneakers and a hairdo involving layered scrunchies!

2002 was the year of butterfly tops, so Taraji P. Henson was actually on-trend when she showed up at the award show rocking a black leather version with pink suede lace-up pants and sunglasses with pink lenses — a look that's so bad, it's almost good.

Big Sean was one of our best dressed stars at the 2017 BET Awards thanks to this uber-cool getup — a crimson velour suit with a white tee underneath. But our favorite part of the look? Those Gucci sneakers.

Ella Mai looked incredibly chic at the 2019 BET Awards! She wore a monochromatic neon green pantsuit with matching sunglasses. That night, the English R&B singer took home the viewer's choice award for her single "Trip." 

It's really hard to believe this is Nicki Minaj… but it is! Even more shocking than that? What's happening with this outfit! The star wore a pink wool dress with fringe detailing at the hem and on the shoulders, which by itself would have been odd but OK. It's what Nicki added to this look that made us scratch our heads back at the 2011 BET Awards — gray patterned tights and black ankle boots! Yikes.

Early in her career, Zendaya shut down the red carpet at the 2014 BET Awards when she showed up in this funky and fun Emanuel Ungaro bomber jacket and skirt combination. Though those two things don't typically work together, Zendaya pulled this unconventional look off by adding a black bandeau underneath. She topped it off with a black baseball hat, which could only be pulled off by Zendaya.

We couldn't get enough of Janelle Monae's stunning gown at the 2018 BET Awards. The "Hidden Figures" actress rocked a floor-length Nicolas Jebran dress with a ruffled rainbow tulle skirt, a forest green beaded bodice and a black hat.

Remember this? Pals Blac Chyna and Amber Rose arrived at the 2015 BET Awards in style, matching in the exact same white pantsuit. All that varied was their heels.

Lizzo looked adorable if not a little wooden at the 2019 BET Awards! The "Juice" hitmaker sported a custom House of Holland number inspired by trees with a matching headpiece and pair of booties.

Mya went a little too casual to the 2003 BET Awards in pinstriped trousers (with buckles!) and a strapless striped bustier that showed off her black bra underneath. She finished off this underwhelming look with a pair of red heels, making this one of our least favorite ensembles that year.

Decades before Yeezy, long before Kanye West was a fashion mogul, there was… this outfit: an oversized blue velvet jacket with a white T-shirt and baggy jeans. But it might be the accessories he chose to add to this lackluster look that stood out the most — navy and white Nikes, gold chains and white-rimmed sunglasses.

Lil Mama goes super-glam! At the 2017 BET Awards, the hip-hop artist selected a ballgown in a neutral shade, opting for this princess-like dress with a plunging neckline and floral embellishments. We loved how she paired the shade with those metallic heels peeking out.

Cardi B is known for her bold, scandalous red carpet looks, and her ensemble at the 2019 BET Awards was certainly no exception. Among her looks that night was this stunning custom gown by Nicolas Jebran. From the statement shoulders to the plunging neckline, the green Swarovski crystal-embellished number commanded attention. Cardi is pictured accepting the award for album of the year for "Invasion of Privacy."

A Mongolian lamb fur coat sans shirt plus leather pants? Safe to say that goes down in history for all the wrong reasons! Rocker Dave Navarro donned this, well, interesting combination at the 2004 BET Awards and topped it off with a leather bucket hat. We're hoping this look stays in the fashion history books!

One of our favorite BET Awards looks of all time? This 2014 moment from Kerry Washington — a sweet, strapless Dolce & Gabbana minidress that paired perfectly with white heels.

Keke Palmer served up futuristic vibes at the 2014 BET Awards in a bold white-and-gold minidress by Alon Livne and finished the look with white pumps. She took home the YoungStars Award that year.

Beyonce can do no wrong as proven by her stunning 2012 BET Awards look. Queen Bey rocked a satin lemon yellow dress with a thigh-high slit and an oversized mirrored belt.

At the 2019 BET Awards, "Coming 2 America" actress Nomzamo Mbatha wore a parachute gown — a structured grey dress with bright floral details by Loin Cloth and Ashes. 

2003 gave us a lot of unforgettable fashion, including La Toya Jackson's bizarre BET Awards getup. The star essentially wore a ruffled bikini top and miniskirt, which also happened to feature random strips of fabric tied around her stomach and wrists. Even worse than that outfit? Those gold-and-silver high-heeled boots!

Finally, a mid-'00s outfit that's memorable for a good reason! Gabrielle Union wore this gorgeous pale pink slip dress, which featured delicate silver embellishments and teeny spaghetti straps, to the 2005 BET Awards. Her matching clutch and silver strappy heels wrapped up this look perfectly!

Jude Demorest's 2017 BET Awards look was on-point that year. It emulated another big fashion moment, Priyanka Chopra's 2017 Met Gala look — a trench coat-turned-dress. Jude accessorized her short off-the-shoulder version with another 2017 staple, the choker, and strappy black heels.

Rihanna brought Old Hollywood glamour to the 2007 BET Awards where she donned a white ruched mermaid dress with a sweetheart neckline.

Matchy-matchy! Destiny's Child showed up to the 2001 BET Awards in these complementary ensembles — essentially the same dress in three different colors! Kelly Rowland opted for black, Beyonce went with royal blue and Michelle Williams wore a dark teal hue.

Lovely in leopard! Christina Aguilera showed up to the 2001 BET Awards in this long, sleeveless leopard-print dress complete with cut-outs.

Way before flower crowns became a Coachella staple, Ciara attended the 2005 BET Awards wearing a hot-pink version. She also donned a matching magenta crop top with ruffled sleeves and a black-and-white flamenco-style skirt. What was she thinking?!

Thandie Newton's 2006 BET Awards look holds up more than a decade later! Her cream beaded dress was a stunner, and though super-simple, stood out at that year's award show.

Rihanna, is that really you?! Long before she was one of our favorite fashionistas, Rihanna attended the 2006 BET Awards in this super-simple — dare we say boring? — strapless dress featuring an infamous mid-'00s trend: the bubble hem!

Sibling style! Brandy and Ray J attended the 2001 BET Awards in matching all-black ensembles. Brandy donned a tube top and a bizarre skirt-and-pants combo while Ray J rocked an oversized T-shirt and baggy pants.

Gorgeous, darling! Remy Ma donned this beautiful black-and-white Karen Sabag polka-dot gown with a thigh-high slit to the 2018 BET Awards.

Way before Alicia Keys shirked makeup, she showed up at the 2009 BET Awards looking super-glam. The singer rocked this pale green Jenny Packham dress, which featured gold embellishments and followed all of the big trends of the time.

Lady in red! At the 2010 show, Ashanti sported this gorgeous red gown featuring ruffled sleeves and a sleek silhouette. She added drop earrings to make this BET Awards appearance a memorable fashion moment!

Her milkshake might bring all the boys to the yard, but this dress… probably wouldn't! Kelis donned this unfortunate bronze frock at the 2006 BET Awards.

We love a good colorblocked ensemble, but this look was just too much: Orlando Jones donned a teal suit jacket with a green shirt and dark orange pants to the 2016 BET Awards.

Obsessed! Cassie delivered a major style moment at the 2006 BET Awards, stepping out in this beautiful strapless dress that featured silver sequin embellishments and a huge black bow at the waist.

We love when men aren't afraid to try color on the red carpet. Ne-Yo opted for this mustard yellow suit, gray fedora and Gucci sneakers for the 2018 BET Awards.

Lil Mama must have confused the 2008 BET Awards with a costume party because she showed up in this bizarre patterned dress looking like some sort of candy striper. The chunky bracelets and the red Converse made this one even more memorable… for all the wrong reasons!

Flawless! Tika Sumpter was a vision at the 2018 BET Awards in a lime green Missoni midi-length dress with a fringed skirt and silver strappy heels.
