According to the New York Post, multiple sources claim Elon Musk will depart Donald Trump's administration at the end of next month.However, the news isn't out of nowhere as federal regulations state special government employees (SGEs) can only stay at their posts for 130 consecutive days. Therefore, the Telsa founder's final day could be around May 30, which would mark the exact number of days since the former star of The Apprentice was sworn in for his second term.

While Elon Musk's time working with the government had an end date to begin with, Democrats are seeing the move as a strain in the billionaire's dynamic with Donald Trump."The news represents a shift in the Trump-Musk relationship from a month ago, when White House officials and allies were predicting Musk was 'here to stay' and that Trump would find a way to blow past the 130-day time limit," Politico capitol bureau chief Rachel Bade wrote on X on April 2.
