Podast host Tyler Cohen celebrated Mark Carney defeating Canada's conservative party on Monday, April 28.
"Never thought I'd say this, but thank you, Donald Trump," Cohen wrote on X.

Donald Trump previously threatened to turn Canada into America's 51st state — an idea Mark Carney publicly denounced before the election.

Donald Trump's former spokesperson Anthony Scaramucci pointed out how Mark Carney's victory occurred during the Republican's first 100 days back in office.
"The best that Trump did in 100 days: Mark Carney," Scaramucci said.

Mike Nellis, who previously served as Vice President
Kamala Harris' senior advisor, attributed Mark Carney's win to Donald Trump's antics.
"Trump couldn't shut up long enough to land himself a potential ally in Canada. What an incredible j*****," Nellis said. "Turning a foreign election into a referendum on yourself is some next-level stupid politics. Congrats to the Liberal Party for winning an election they should've lost — thanks to Trump."
Novelist Don Winslow also thanked Trump "for all of your help," noting, "We couldn't have done it without your insanity."

Many Canadian voters cited Donald Trump's threats when asked why they supported Mark Carney.
"Individual Canadians are doing what they can by shopping non-American and showing how ridiculous these policies and his language has been about Canada," one person told
Reuters. "This madman will hopefully be gone in four years."
"Who I voted for would be the best to take care of Trump," another Canadian voter told
CNN. "Because Trump is, I'm sorry to say, an a****** and he shouldn't even be president of the United States. But because he is, we need a strong person so that we can stand strong."

"The main issue [in the election] is pretty obvious, and it's obviously the reason the polls have shifted so much over the past few months — and it's what's happening just on the other side of the lake there, south of the border [in the U.S.]," one person told
