On Tuesday, May 27, Donald Trump called Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley's daughter Savannah Chrisley to let her know he would be pardoning her parents after they were sentenced to several years behind bars for tax evasion and bank fraud in 2022._
In a video shared by White House communications adviser Margo Martin, Donald Trump called Savannah Chrisley while sitting at his desk in the Oval Office to deliver the news that he was pardoning Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley after they were jailed in January 2023."Your parents are going to be free and clean and I hope we can do it by tomorrow," the Republican leader told the reality star. "I don't know them, but give them my regards and wish them a good life."
The Chrisley Knows Best duo's son Grayson Chrisley was also on the call. "Just congratulate your parents. I hear they are terrific people," the president told them. "This should not have happened. They have good children."

Following her chat with Donald Trump, Savannah Chrisley took to Instagram to react to the news that Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley were going to be released."The president called me personally as I was walking into Sam's Club and notified me that he was signing pardon paperwork for both of my parents," the "Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley" podcast host said. "So, both my parents are coming home tonight [Tuesday] or tomorrow [Wednesday] and I still don't believe it's real. I'm freaking out. The fact that the president called me."
"I will forever be grateful for President Trump, his administration and everyone along the way, all of my lawyers, the people who put in countless hours and effort and love for my family to make sure that my parents got home," she continued. "My parents get to start their lives over. President Trump didn't just commute their sentences, he gave them a full unconditional pardon. So for that, I am forever grateful."
The pair's attorney, Alex Little, said of the pardons, "President Trump recognized what we've argued from the beginning: Todd and Julie were targeted because of their conservative values and high profile. Their prosecution was tainted by multiple constitutional violations and political bias. Todd and Julie's case is exactly why the pardon power exists. Thanks to President Trump, the Chrisley family can now begin healing and rebuilding their lives."

"The jury's unanimous verdict sets the record straight: Todd and Julie Chrisley are career swindlers who have made a living by jumping from one fraud scheme to another, lying to banks, stiffing vendors and evading taxes at every corner."

When Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley began their sentences, Savannah Chrisley became the legal guardian of her younger family members: brother Grayson Chrisley and niece Chloe Chrisley — her older half-brother Kyle Chrisley's daughter. Despite the hardship, she never stopped advocating for Todd and Julie's release."I kind of had gotten to a place where I had lost hope and just felt like nothing was going in my favor. And then I got the call. It was just a shock," the podcaster explained in a Tuesday, May 27, interview with ABC News. "The president was so kind and loving. He's the reason my family is coming back together. I have always stood by him and his administration and I will continue to stand by them and fight for them."
