'Hunger Games' actor argues that movie theaters are now a 'pulpit' for faith-based films

Alan Ritchson, who starred in "Hunger Games: Catching Fire," thinks movie theaters could be almost as valuable as church in terms of teaching faith.

The "Reacher" star spoke about the value of theaters on a Zoom "prayer call" and iterated that he wants to be "part of stories" that honor Christ, Christian Headlines reported.

Although big screens are not church, the actor argued that it "doesn't change the fact that people are hearing the name of Christ in movie theaters."

"And if that's where the pulpit is for people who wouldn't normally step foot in a church, then that's still a great way to have that conversation," he said. "It matters that these films get supported."

Alan, who's starring in the upcoming faith-based film "Ordinary Angels" opposite Hilary Swank, urged studio executives to stop focusing entirely on the bottom line. He believes that a strong message will be sent to Hollywood if Christians support faith-based movies.

"Other people in [Hollywood] watch this and a groundswell kind of takes place in Hollywood that changes things in a real meaningful way," he said.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Alan spoke of God using unsuspecting or "broken" people to do His work.

"God continually shows up in our world in a way that kind of boggles our mind," he said. "Because we, for whatever reason, I think we continue to buy into the idea that … God chooses heroes to do His work. And it's just never been the case. It's the broken and the dysfunctional that God proves His power and strength through."

That notion, he said, is the basis of "Ordinary Angels."

"This a story of that," Alan said. "It's important that we remember that those who maybe struggle to follow the rules, who don't look like the perfect Christians, who are the broken, are the people that God has a funny way of expressing Himself through."

Alan is far from the only celebrity to urge people to watch Christian films. In February, Candace Cameron Bure hoped a new faith-based movie would make people "turn to Jesus."

Action star actress reveals the drastic action she took after frightening catfishing experiences

Kate Beckinsale was forced to move from her California home after several men were duped by catfishers and terrifyingly showed up at her door.

AFF-USA/Shutterstock

The actress spoke of the scary situation on Instagram after reposting a comedian's skit in which a man is convinced he's in a relationship with Kate. While the "Underworld" star acknowledged that the online bit is "funny and really well done," it also hit really close to home … her former home, at least.

"During lockdown several men had been catfished to the degree that they flew to Los Angeles from out of state, had been given my home address and arrived on my doorstep late at night (on different nights, over a couple of week period) thinking we were in some sort of relationship.," she wrote. "My boyfriend at the time and I were completely freaked out, the catfished guys were humiliated and some of them arrested, the scammers weren't caught and I ended up ultimately having to move house."

At the time, Kate was dating musician Goody Grace, 25.

The scammers who duped the aforementioned men were so determined to seem legit that they even created fake social media profiles for Kate's beloved Persian cat, Clive.

One of Kate's followers said, "Sadly I've actually had messages from ones on here pretending to be you and select others (now [even] a fake Clive profile pops up?) and on Facebook, [some] even used your profile photo to try and lure me, but I was smart and thought, no damn way in hell."

Kate responded, "Oh God not Clive too, is nothing sacred?"

The brunette beauty hoped the Instagram video was a message to anyone who believes they are speaking to her online. They're not.

"Can this please be the definitive answer to anyone who thinks I am messaging them or talking to them on google hangouts or asking them for money or sending pictures of my passport or driving license – or that my personal assistant is messaging them on my behalf or anything in that vein – it's absolutely NOT me," she insisted, "and you are being horribly taken advantage of and please report and block anyone doing this to you."

Florida residents freak out as they mistake Taylor Swift concert lights for a UFO

Taylor Swift's live performances are out of this world!

On April 13, 14 and 15, the pop star took her massively successful "Eras" tour to Tampa, Florida. During the course of the three shows, several local residents saw strange lights in the cloudy Florida sky and were quick to assume they were seeing a UFO. It turns out that those were just lights from Taylor's show at Raymond James Stadium, an outdoor football venue.

A video of the lights is going viral, and it's rather comical. In the expletive-filled clip, a group of people sounded stunned while watching the light dancing in the sky.

"They're coming for you," one person can be heard saying. Another voice clearly knows what's happening in the area but is far from convinced that concert lights were, ya know, bigger than the whole sky. "That is NOT Taylor Swift!," the person shouts.

Social media also had some fun with the UFO chatter.

"That's not Taylor Swift @taylorswift13, that's some alien [expletive]," one person wrote.

While the UFO theory is certainly fun, it's pretty clear that E.T. wasn't the source of the light… but it WAS a "Taylien."

The UF-No sighting comes more than a week after news broke that Taylor had split from longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn. During one of her Tampa shows, a fan held up a sign that read, "You OK?" In a scene similar to her "You Belong with Me" music video, Taylor gave the Swiftie a thumbs up.

Judging from her Instagram post after the Tampa shows, Taylor thought the concerts were otherworldly.

"Sill buzzing from those 3 shows in Tampa!!! Thank you to the unforgettably epic crowds and to @aarondessner for coming out to play twice with me, we've been dreaming about that for so long!!," she wrote. "So grateful for the memories we're making on this tour."

'Shark Tank' star slammed for cringeworthy podcast comments

Barbara Corcoran is swimming in controversy after some eyeopening comments in a resurfaced interview.

The "Shark Tank" star appeared on British businessman Steve Bartlett's podcast last December and spoke about how she was itching to lay off "negative employees." She then spoke of exactly how she likes to show employees the door.

Vanessa Carvalho/Shutterstock

"What I would love to do is call someone into my office on Friday. I love firing people on Friday," she said. "I would stop by someone's desk on a Wednesday and say, 'Hey, would you have any time, sometime on Friday?'"

She added, "They should have heard about the rumors. I couldn't wait till they came in to fire them!"

The comments recently resurfaced after being shared on TikTok, and backlash has come on the heels.

"We should change the system so that people can become successful without having to become a terrible person," one person said. Another called the billionaire businesswoman "spiteful."

"One should NEVER be giddy about firing people. I've been a business leader for 15+ years. This is the one thing I hate," another chimed in.

Elsewhere in the podcast interview, the reality TV star detailed the kind of people she likes to fire — another topic that caused backlash.

"I picked out individuals who were negative, and my attitude toward the negative person was, they were ruining my good kids, because people who are negative have to have somebody else to be negative with them," she said. "They got to talk to somebody and complain."

"I'm not talking about people who tell you what you're doing wrong – they're invaluable so you can get better. I'm talking about chronic complainers and negative people. You got to get rid of them," she said. "I learnt very early after firing one negative person, never tell them why you're firing them." Rather, Barbara tells them they "don't fit" the company.

Oscar winner calls Black History Month an 'insult'

Morgan Freeman is no friend of Black History Month or the term "African American."

In an interview with The Sunday Times, the celebrated actor didn't mince words when broached with either of the topics, stating, "Two things I can say publicly that I do not like: Black History Month is an insult. You're going to relegate my history to a month?"

MediaPunch/REX/Shutterstock

Race was brought up after the UK publication asked Morgan about comments he made in 2005, wherein he opined that race shouldn't be discussed. "I'm going to stop calling you a white man and I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a Black man," he said at the time.

The Oscar winner still has similar thoughts, noting that he refuses to be defined by his race and hates the term "African American."

"I don't subscribe to that title," he plainly stated. "Black people have had different titles all the way back to the n-word and I do not know how these things get such a grip, but everyone uses 'African American.' What does it really mean? Most Black people in this part of the world are mongrels. And you say Africa as if it's a country when it's a continent, like Europe."

Rex USA

The interview was done to promote Morgan's new film, "A Good Person," but the topic of race arguably became the highlight of the conversation.

Morgan isn't alone in his thoughts. Earlier this year Idris Elba raised eyebrows when he said he didn't consider himself a "Black actor."

"As humans, we are obsessed with race," Idris told Esquire U.K. in February. "And that obsession can really hinder people's aspirations, hinder people's growth. Racism should be a topic for discussion, sure. Racism is very real. But from my perspective, it's only as powerful as you allow it to be. I stopped describing myself as a Black actor when I realized it put me in a box. We've got to grow. We've got to. Our skin is no more than that: it's just skin. Rant over."

In addition, Denzel Washington once said, "I'm very proud to be Black, but Black is not all I am."
