Legendary rocker's family wants him to 'throw in the towel' on 50-year career

Rod Stewart has been touring the world and playing his music for over five decades, but his family is hoping he'll ride off into the sunset.

A new report by The Daily Mail claims the "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" singer's eight children are begging him to retire so he can spend more time with his grandchildren.

"They are worried about him and want him to throw in the towel on music and retire on his own terms," the source shared. "Their dad has devoted 50 years of his life to music and he has nothing left to prove to anyone."

"With his health issues, and considering his age, several of Rod's kids just think it is time for him to take a few years to focus on his health and his family – especially after the birth of his third grandbaby," the source added.

Rod has been at the forefront of rock 'n' roll since releasing "Maggie May" in 1971. Now 78, the Grammy winner is set to embark on a 40-show global tour beginning next week. In addition to his, he still has a popular Las Vegas residency show at Caesars Palace. Last year, Rod told the Daily Record that he plans to make music, but will give up "rock 'n' roll touring".

"I want to do something different. It feels like an end of an era. All things must come to an end," he said. "I'm not retiring and I still love singing, I just want to do something new. I might do a few folk clubs playing guitar. Just be different."

Of course, Rod's health might be what ultimately makes him think about retirement. Then again, despite beating cancer twice and have knee replacement surgery and ankle fusion surgery, his health is actually relatively good.

Although his family is encouraging him to hang it up, the message might be falling on deaf ears.

"Rod doesn't really want to stop and doesn't know how to not create music. It is his life. He would love to rock out forever and he believes that his fans need him," the source explained. "His family is just hoping that when Rod's tour is wrapped he is going to actually be done. They really want him to stick to this."

Grammy Hall of Famer cancels show after 'medical incident'

Dionne Warwick pulled the plug on an upcoming show due to a mysterious "medical incident."

TMZ reported that the legendary singer has an issue with one of her legs, which forced her to cancel a June 24 concert at Rivers Casino Des Plaines outside Chicago.

"We regret to inform you that the Dionne Warwick performance on June 24, 2023 at Rivers Casino Des Plaines has been cancelled due to a medical incident," an email sent out to ticket holders said.

The message stated that all ticket purchases will be refunded, and it promised that Dionne would be back on stage soon. Dionne, for her part, told TMZ that she's on the mend but needed to some time off to get her health right and make sure she's 100%.

Dionne, 82, has had pretty good health over the years. She was hospitalized for almost two weeks in 2015 after she slipped and fell in her shower. She required ankle surgery following that incident.

In 2020, the "That's What Friends Are For" singer said she hardly ever exercises and eats whatever she wants.

"I'm not what you consider a healthy eater," she said. "I love McDonald's, I eat fried chicken… I loved everything my mother put in my mouth during my growing years, so I still imbibe those things."

In regard to fitness, she said that being on tour and running through airports is her form of cardio.

"I am too lazy to exercise, I really am," the six-time Grammy winner said. "You'd be surprised, you're using a lot of energy [while performing.] It's a lot of exercise. Where do I get the energy? I don't know, I don't think about it. I just do it. I love getting up on stage every night. The performance part is what I enjoy. I'll keep working until the joy goes out of what I do."

One thing Dionne is adamant about taking care of is her skin.

"I like me, so I take care of me. I take care of my skin," she said. "I don't put make-up on every day. My face is clear, free and able to breathe."

Jennifer Lawrence reveals her mother once sold the Oscar winner's used toilet on Craigslist

When it came to selling a certain household item, Jennifer Lawrence's mother didn't give a crap.

The actress told People magazine that her mom, Karen, once sold a broken used toilet from J.Law's home — the toilet was actually sold to a man named Lee Eisenberg, who happens to be the writing partner of "No Hard Feelings" director Gene Stupnitsky.

"Years ago, Lee Eisenberg bought a toilet on Craigslist from my mom. My toilet," she said, adding that she "doesn't know" why her mom decided to shill a porcelain throne.

"I'm like, 'I broke it.' My mom sold it for me," the "No Hard Feelings" star said.

At the time of the purchase, Lee knew the identity of the seller.

"That's how we know the story now," Jennifer said. "So thanks, Mom."

In "No Hard Feelings," Jen answers a Craigslist ad placed by the parents of a shy teenager. The goal was for the teen, played by Andrew Barth Feldman, to become less timid.

J.Law has often spoke of how much her own parents supported her over the years, even after she dropped out of school.

"My parents, you know—changed their entire lives to support me," she told 60 Minutes in 2018.

Admitting to being a "weirdo" in school, Jen said she once faked having a wooden leg in class.

"And I, like, walked in a very consistent limp. Like, incredibly consistent. And when my mom came to get me from school, my teachers were, like, 'It's awful what happened to Jennifer's leg.' And my mom was, like, 'She does not have—she's—her leg has not been amputated.' I used to just invent stories just to invent them," she said.

The "Hunger Games" star added, "My parents were just—you know, they would go through periods of time where they just wanted me outta the house. And it was called a lockout. And so I'd go to the door and it was locked. And I'd be like all right. I gotta find something else to do until my parents were ready to deal with me again. I was a handful. And I got it. We never fought about it. I've always been very self-aware about my annoyingness."

Grammy winner admits to alcohol 'addiction,' cites pressure of 'not being good enough'

Drew Taggart, of The Chainsmokers, has publicly acknowledging his struggles with alcohol, calling it an "addiction."

The Grammy-winning performer shared a video of him playing piano to the group's recent single "Self Destruction Mode." In this caption, Drew spoke of the song's meaning.

Casey Flanigan/imageSPACE/Shutterstock

"I've struggled with drinking throughout my career as it's an addiction that's woven into the environment we exist in," he penned. "This guilt of not being good enough or not being better ironically sends me into a spiral that restarts my bad habit cycle."

"Self Destruction Mode" is clearly a personal song to Drew, as its lyrics point to cyclical damaging behavior.

"I woke up in self-destruction mode / I press go and I do it again / I love my sins, they're all I know / We got closer than all of my friends," the song says.

Despite the heavy content, Drew maintains that the song, which features Bludnymph, is not a "cry for help."

It's "more of an embrace or celebration of all that I am," he said. "I know that im flawed. i know that i am great and so are you. Never forget it."

This is the first time The Chainsmokers artist has publicly opened up about his struggle.

Matt Young/Shutterstock

Over the years, The Chainsmokers, which includes Alex Pall, have gotten headlines for other purposes, including their 2017 Grammy win and from their love lives. In January, Drew was linked to Selena Gomez after his romance with Eve Jobs, the daughter of Steve Jobs, fizzled.

"They aren't trying to hide their romance by sneaking around at members only clubs," a source previously told Us Weekly. "They are so affectionate and having a lot of fun together. Selena can hardly keep her hands off him."

However, it seems that Drew and Selena are no more, as she recently said she was single and "a little high maintenance."

Plus, in February she joked about her love life while lip-syncing a TikTok video.

"Guys, I figured out the reason why I'm single. You have to go outside and meet people. Like, you actually have to go outside and talk to them," she mouthed.

Outgoing 'Top Chef' host gives update on former partner after public stabbing

Padma Lakshmi's former husband is "healing beautifully" 10 months after being stabbed on stage during a lecture in New York City.

Salman Rushdie — who was married to the outgoing "Top Chef" host from 2004 to 2007 — was hospitalized for six weeks after being attacked back in August 2022. Following the assault, the author lost vision in one eye and use of a hand.

Image Press Agency/NurPhoto/Shutterstock

"He's healing beautifully, valiantly. Like everyone else, when I heard about it it catapulted me right back to things that I hadn't thought about for a very long time," she said on CNN's "Who's Talking With Chris Wallace." "You know, obviously, we have a lot of common friends and I think he's doing great. He's a tough old boot. And he's not anything if he's not tenacious, so I'm happy that he is healing."

Padma and Salman were married while Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa — also known a death sentence — against him for his writings.

"I would be lying if I said, I didn't think about those things. I did think about the fatwā every day of my life, I couldn't not think about it," Padma said. "But what I thought about more, was very deep love between us. And that made me not afraid, because I was with the man I loved. And I thought that was where it should be."

Matt Baron/BEI/Shutterstock

The "Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi" star noted that her family wasn't exactly enthusiastic when she began dating Salman.

"My family wasn't very excited at first either, you know, by this relationship, but they also in time really grew to love Salman and that's really what I hope propels all of my important decisions," she said.

The interview comes less than two weeks after Padma announced that she is leaving "Top Chef" after 17 years and 19 seasons.

"After 17 years, many of the cast and crew are like family to me and I will miss working alongside them dearly," she wrote on Instagram. "I feel it's time to move on and make space for 'Taste the Nation,' my books and other creative pursuits."

'Pearl Harbor' actress 'absolutely and totally broken' after her famous cat dies

All cats go to heaven.

A heartbroken Kate Beckinsale has indicated that she will likely take a social media break to mourn the loss of her beloved cat, Clive.

David Fisher/Shutterstock

"Clive has died," she announced on Instagram on Monday, June 12. "I don't have it in me to make a montage or even look at pictures of him yet. Every single part of my house feels like he should be in it."

The "Underworld" and "Pearl Harbor" actress posted a snap of her cradling the feline while indicating that she's going to take some time to herself to process the loss.

"If anyone is expecting to hear from me, you may not for a bit and I'm sorry," she penned. "My heart is absolutely and totally broken."

Clive was rather famous on Kate's social media, as she regularly shared photos of the cat. Often times, she dressed the fur ball up in quirky outfits, put him on a floating pool raft or made him a part of a funny online skit.

"Not sure a cat has ever received so much love and good wishes thank you I think he definitely feels it," she captioned a video in August that showed her putting makeup on the four-legged man.

After the sad announcement, many of Kate's celebrity friends expressed condolences.

"Kate sending you love," Anya Taylor-Joy wrote. Seth Rogen commented, "I'm so sorry."

Lisa Rinna added, "Oh I'm so so sorry for your loss we loved you sharing Clive with us. Thank you."

One fan called Clive the "King of Instagram," and others spoke of how much they'll miss Kate's funny Clive-centric social media posts.

The cause of Clive's death isn't known, but Kate has said he was "quite old."

"We got him when my daughter was little," she told People magazine in 2019, Lily Sheen, now 20, whom she shares with ex Michael Sheen. "And he usually is shaved into an odd shape, but he's a recent cancer survivor."

The loss of Clive comes three years after Kate's dog Ingrid, a Maltese-Chihuahua, died at age 11.
