In a much-anticipated conversation with her conservatorship judge, Britney Spears will divulge all the issues she has with her dad meddling in her life, according to reports.
The pop star, who has been under a conservatorship since 2008, is set to appear in court on June 23.
TMZ says it's likely that Britney will ask the judge to boot her father, Jamie Spears, completely off of her conservatorship. With a lot to get off her chest, the conversation between Britney and the judge is expected to be "wide-ranging."
It's assumed that the "Piece of Me" singer will discuss her fractured relationship with her father — the two no longer speak and she is said to be "angry" with him. Some of her issues with Jamie are deep-seeded and reportedly stem from his oft-absence during her childhood.
Britney's upcoming court appearance, which should be open to the public to watch via Zoom, will be the first time in recent years that she has stood before the court. It's almost certain that the singer's fans and members of the #FreeBritney brigade will show up in large numbers outside the courthouse for the June hearing.
For several years, fans of Britney have become growingly concerned that she's being controlled by her father and perhaps others in her team. The #FreeBritney movement has long advocated for the removal of the conservatorship.
Britney's relationship with her father and the conservatorship has gained renewed interest among the public following the widely-viewed "Framing Britney Spears" documentary.
It's not known if Britney will plead with the judge to end the conservatorship, as she's never expressed a desire for it to be canceled, contrary to popular belief. She has, however, said that she will no longer perform as long as her father is involved in the conservatorship. Still, that doesn't mean she will indeed go back on stage if her father is out. In fact, there is some doubt in her camp that she even has interest in performing for a crowd again.
Although Jamie is no longer Britney's personal conservator, he still manages her business affairs along with a financial institution. With Britney not touring or performing, there isn't much to do.
Earlier this month, Britney attempted to address some of those concerns on Instagram, telling fans she's is "extremely happy" and "totally fine."
"I have a beautiful home, beautiful children," she said. "I'm taking a break right now because I'm enjoying myself."
