Open mouth, insert… Twitter.
On Friday, Jada Pinkett Smith confirmed that she had a relationship with 27-year-old singer August Alsina. She previously denied the rumored romance via her rep.
While chatting with husband Will Smith during her "Red Table Talk" series this week, Jada, 48, called the romance an "entanglement." Will then made her admit it was a "relationship." They both said the romance took place while they were secretly separated.
Following the confirmation, Twitter lit up and was anything but tangled.
"thanks to jada if I ever get caught cheating I can call it an 'entanglement,'" one person tweeted.
"Jada said she and August had an entanglement, not a relationship. You can't dictionary your way out of this one sis," another person wrote.
Many users posted memes and videos about the use of the word "entanglement."
Another user posted a side-by-side image of a loving couple and a pair of earbud headphones. "What August saw Vs What Jada saw," read the meme, referring to August's claims that he was in love with Jada.
A large swath of Twitter users seemed to focus on Will's reaction to Jada's confirmation, noting that the celebrated actor didn't look completely comfortable. Some thought he was on the edge of tears, despite laughing about the situation.
"The laugher from Will while he spoke to Jada had fake written all over it. Man's hurting," one person claimed.
"Jada got Will looking like he back in The Pursuit of Happyness," one person noted, posting a side-by-side of Will from the 2006 movie and during the "Red Table Talk" episode.
Another added, "I haven't seen will look this hurt since the pursuit of happiness."
For many, Will and Jada were one of the gold standards of Hollywood romance. Following the big reveal, one Twitter user felt that would change, sharing a video of someone deleting things from three cell phones.
"Girls on twitter deleting their 'I want that jada & will love' tweets after seeing the red table talk episode," the caption read.
