"Stranger Things" actress Grace Van Dien was on her way to Hollywood stardom, but her career path was drastically altered after a producer allegedly overstepped.
Grace, who played Chrissy Cunningham in the Netflix series, is now a Twitch streamer, having ditched the stage.
In a video posted to social media this week, Grace alleged that an unnamed producer hired a woman he'd been "sleeping with." He then asked Grace to have a relationship with the two of them.
"So, that's my boss. And I didn't [do it], and I cried and I was so upset," she said. "But when people are like, 'How is streaming better for your mental health?' That's how. I get to stay inside my home and play video games, and I don't have my boss asking me to have sex with him. That's how this is better for my mental health."
Grace, who appeared in three episodes of "Stranger Things" in 2022, didn't name the producer but said the incident occurred on "one of the last movies" she starred in. According to IMDB, Grace's last three films include "Alaska," "Aaah! Roach!" and "Silver Star," all of which are yet to be released.
Following the alleged proposition, the actress told her management and another co-star.
"My cast mate, she was there with me and was like, 'Did I just hear that correctly?' And I was like, 'Yeah.' And she was like, 'You want to go take a walk?' I was like, 'Yeah.' And we just had a miserable time. We cried a lot on that shoot," Grace said.
The 27-year-old feels she's "handled it in the right way" by telling her team.
Still, despite the career about-face, Grace is pleased with her life as a Twitch steamer.
"That's why I'm going to stick to streaming for a little bit, and I hope that's not a huge wrench in your plans for me, but I'm happy here," she said.
