You could argue that Paris Hilton was an "influencer" before anyone knew what the term actually meant. She was the original "famous for being famous" type of person. But, times has changed and she now feels that being "Internet famous" isn't all it's cracked up to be.
"It depends if you can actually turn that into a brand and a business that's sustainable. I think there's some good and the bad that comes with it," she told BBC Radio 2. "Obviously there is so much toxicity and I can't even imagine being 13 years old and dealing with these unrealistic standards of beauty, the filters, people coming on the trolls and the comments that's a lot, you have to have a really tough skin."
"But I think if you have a talent, a phone and Wi-Fi you can build a brand or something," she adds, "so I think it's exciting if you can use it in the correct way."
While it's no secret that Paris came from money, she's also created her a massive multimillion dollar brand over the years via TV shows, perfumes, songs and a DJ career. The new mom is also looking to release another album, the follow up to 2006's "Paris," which spawned the hit "Stars Are Blind."
"I am in the studio writing and producing, recording, gearing up for a summer tour for Pride a summer of 'sliving.' It's been so much fun I have so many incredible songs," she said, adding that she's teamed up with many famous friends for her music. "They've been writing amazing songs and sending them over, I'm so excited, especially songs by Meghan Trainer, Miley (Cyrus) and Sia, all my girls! We're all just on group text and especially ever since I performed Stars Are Blind with Miley and Sia at new year we've just been talking loads about it. It's just been so inspiring just being around such amazing talented women."
