Carrie Bernans, who has appeared in multiple Marvel films, suffered several injuries and is lucky to be alive after being hit by an-out-control car on a New York City sidewalk just hours after the calendar turned to 2024. The driver of the car was allegedly attempting to evade police. Carrie's mother, Patricia, posted photos of the actress from the hospital on New Year's Day, and the images [seen here] are gruesome.
"She's still in so much pain and can't answer calls at this time, but appreciate the messages," Patricia, wrote on Instagram. "This was a traumatic incident."

According to Patricia, Carrie Bernans's mom, the "Black Panther" actress was walking with a friend near Madison Square Garden when they stopped at a food truck. Just then, a car careened into both the truck and Carrie, and she was pinned underneath.
The car that hit her was allegedly fleeing a hit and run and being chased by police.
"She was involved in a traumatic incident in NYC where a man, early 40s was trying to escape a hit and run and ran into multiple cars before hitting a food stand that her friend & her were walking near," Patricia claimed. "It ended up knocking her unconscious and pended her under the stand. She was under it unaware of what was happening."

Although she's alive and "healing," Carrie Bernans has several broken bones, fractures and chipped teeth, which will require surgery.
CBS New York reported that nine people were injured in the incident, including three police officers. The driver of the car was eventually arrested for attempted murder, reckless endangerment and driving while intoxicated.
Patricia, Carrie's mother, added, "This setback hasn't deterred her belief that something remarkable is still being crafted by God. Despite the injuries sustained in the collision caused by a hit-and-run in NYC, she's filled with hope and faith in the unfolding of a beautiful new chapter. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she navigate this path toward recovery and new beginnings."

Carrie Bernans addressed her fans in an Instagram video from the hospital, acknowledging she looks "rough."
"I'm in so much pain and can't really walk right now," she said. "I'm just hurting, but I know God is good and God heals."
Patricia, Carrie's mother, said the "Avengers: Endgame" star has been offered police protection while laid up on the hospital.

Carrie Bernans, a stuntwoman in "The Color Purple," posted videos to Instagram on Jan. 2 showing her continuing to pump breast milk for her 8-month-old son. (Her son was not with her at the time of the incident.)
"The milk still goes even if you're in pain," she said. "I think what hurts the most is my butt, which sounds weird, and my teeth."
