When asked whether or not her time in Ghana was a mistake, Bass made a shocking confession.
"Absolutely it is, and I think that I have to demonstrate that every day by showing what we're doing, what is working, what are the challenges," Bass told NBC Los Angeles.

Bass was in Ghana on Tuesday, January 7, the first day of the California wildfires. Although Bass returned the next day, she was criticized for her travels.
"I am focused on one thing and one thing only, and that is to make sure that our city is able to recover and rebuild, and that all of those individuals that lived in the Palisades can go home," Bass stressed.

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene used Bass' shortcomings to attack the rise in diversity within public office positions.
"How is your DEI mayor of L.A. working out for you? Hiring based on skin color, gender quotas, and identity has virtually destroyed this country," she wrote on X.
"But keep your racism coming because that's the only thing Patriot Takes has," she added.

Currently, Bass is focused on working alongside Governor Gavin Newsom to repair the billions of dollars worth of damage the natural disaster caused.
"This recovery effort would not be possible without all our partners at every level of government who have stepped up to make this the fastest rebuilding process in modern California history," she shared on X. "We will rebuild — together."

Newsom has put his political beliefs to the side to develop a plan for Los Angeles County alongside President Donald Trump.
"Securing critical disaster aid for the survivors of the Los Angeles fires and ensuring impacted families who lost their homes and livelihoods have the support they need to rebuild and recover," Newsom's office told Newsweek.

Newsom also thanked Trump for his support.
"We're working across the aisle, as we always have, to ensure survivors have the resources and support they need," Newsom revealed.
"Thank you, President Trump, for coming to our communities to see this first hand, and meeting with me today to continue our joint efforts to support people impacted," he continued.
