Kelly Clarkson thinks she's one-and-done when it comes to marriage.
While chatting with Gwyneth Paltrow on "The Kelly Clarkson Show," the singer spoke about her ongoing divorce and felt kinship with the Goop founder since they've both publicly ended marriages. Gwyneth, however, has since married Brad Falchuk.
"You've been married for two years," Kelly said. "Coming from someone who's literally amidst a divorce, I can't even imagine doing it again. So that's amazing that you found love, and you found the space and the vulnerability, that level to say yes, and do it again. Was that hard for you?"
Gwyn, who was previously married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, replied, "Probably the hardest thing I've ever done, and probably allowing myself to learn the lessons that I needed to learn from my divorce and then being able to really kind of do that work on myself and then open myself up again."
In a bit of encouragement, she said, "You will have it again, Kelly. It just takes time."
The former "American Idol" winner said, "I'm actually in that place where I think a lot of people, I've heard, that go through divorce, it's almost like you start dating yourself again, like you actually make time for you again, and I love dating me. I'm actually not looking for it."
She did note that Gwyneth's journey gave her hope.
"It's also a beautiful thing for a lot of people like me that are going through divorce that do want that in the future, to know that it can and will probably happen for you," Kelly said.
Kelly surprised many when she filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock last summer after seven years of marriage and two children. The divorce isn't exactly amicable, as he's requested $5 million a year in child and spousal support. Kelly also filed a lawsuit against her estranged husband and his talent agency, claiming she was defrauded out of millions of dollars.
Kelly's lawsuit came after Brandon's father, Narvel, first filed against Kelly, claiming she owed his firm $1.4 million. He argued that she'll owe even more because of her earnings from "The Voice" and her talk show.
