"The Bachelorette" star Katie Thurston might be trying to tell us something about her emotional on-camera split with Greg Grippo.
Following the Aug. 2 episode of the ABC show, Katie, 30, took to her Instagram Story to share a post about gaslighting, which is described as "a form of emotional abuse or psychological manipulation involving distorting the truth in order to confuse or instill doubt in another person to the point they question their own sanity or reality."
Katie did not mention Greg or tag him in the post, but the timing of the message was curious. In addition to the definition, the Instagram post describes how to recognize if you're being a victim of gaslighting, and how to protect yourself from it.
Just prior to the post, Greg, who Katie admitted was her frontrunner, abruptly quit the show after saying he was in love with her. Katie did not return the sentiment because she said she wanted to save those words for last remaining man, which very well may have been Greg.
Greg, 28, was visibly displeased with Katie's reaction to his love confession. "I just love looking at you," she told him.
The following day, Greg showed up at Katie's hotel room and asked for answers but was not happy with what he was hearing from "The Bachelorette" star. Katie wondered aloud if he was even willing to listen to anything she had to say. In the end, Greg decided to walk away from the show and Katie.
Previews for next week's finale seem to show Greg's decision hanging over the show and affecting Katie is a deep way. Whether Katie chooses one of the remaining two men — Blake Moynes or Justin Glaze — isn't known, particularly given how Monday's episode ended, with Katie crying on the bathroom floor and asking producers to buy her a flight back home.
Clearly Katie was in a different mindset at the time of the breakup than she was last week.
