Josh Duggar said his face is so well-known that he couldn't possibly flee if he were released from jail.
Via his attorneys, the former "19 Kids and Counting" star said he should be let out of jail and sent home so that he can take care of his pregnant wife, Anna. In the paperwork obtained by TMZ, Josh argues that he's too prominent of a person to be considered a flight risk.
He "has a widely-recognizable face and has spent the majority of his life in the public spotlight — making any concern that he is a risk of flight all the more unwarranted," the documents state.
Additionally, his team says Josh never went on the run while knowing that he was being investigated. In fact, the documents assert that he cooperated every step of the way and even complied with surrendering to authorities on his own.
Josh, the docs say, "has no criminal convictions, and has known about this federal criminal investigation since November 2019 when Homeland Security Investigations executed a search of Duggar's prior workplace."
The embattled former reality star has been charged with receiving and possessing child pornography. Charging documents allege that Josh used the Internet to download child sexual abuse material, and KNWA said he allegedly possessed material which depicted the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12. He has pleaded not guilty.
Josh appeared in court via Zoom on April 30, one day after his arrest, which came just days after his wife announced her seventh pregnancy.
He is required to remain behind bars until at least May 5 for a detention hearing. If he's eventually released on bond, things could get tricky, as the judge said he must reside in a home without any minor children present. That requirement all but rules out him staying with family while the legal process plays out.
