Over!
Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx's under-the-radar romance has ended. A source told Page Six on Aug. 19 that Katie — who'd just finally made her public debut with Jamie as a couple at the Met Gala in early May — was overheard at dinner saying their relationship had been over for some time. "What Jamie does is his business — we haven't been together for months," she supposedly said. News of the split came after Jamie was seen in Los Angeles with aspiring singer Sela Vave. Katie and Jamie were first linked in 2013 and worked hard to keep their six-year romance secret. After the split, there were differing stories as to the issues that led to the breakup (one report said they had different lives; another said Katie was fed up with Jamie being "disrespectful"). Reports indicate that Katie was the one who ultimately pulled the plug.

Indictment
Where do we start with this one? Reality TV couple Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley were indicted by a federal grand jury on Aug. 13 for tax evasion as well as other financial crimes. The next day, the couple surrendered to the FBI and pleaded not guilty before a judge. Atlanta's WSBTV confirmed that the 12-count indictment, which also implicates the couple's former accountant, alleges tax evasion, wire fraud and the use of the Chrisleys' production company to hide their reality TV income from the IRS. The indictment claims the couple didn't pay income taxes from 2013 to 2016 and used false documents to secure millions in loans. Todd defended the family in a lengthy Instagram post a day before the indictment was made public, claiming they were being blackmailed. He wrote that he wouldn't "go into details" about the case but said it "involved all kinds of really bad stuff like creating phony documents, forging our signatures, and threatening other employees with violence if they said anything." He added that his family has "nothing to hide and have done nothing to be ashamed of. " He added that they have "hard evidence" to prove it. As if that weren't enough, the same week, Todd's estranged daughter, Lindsie, accused her dad and brother, Chase, of extorting her with a sex tape. They've denied that accusation.

Divorce
It's over. On Aug. 21, Liam Hemsworth filed for divorce from Miley Cyrus, his wife of less than eight months. He cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. Miley — whose rep had announced the couple's separation less than two weeks earlier — was said to be "disappointed." On Aug, 11, one day after their separation announcement, Miley penned a long Instagram message about nature that was littered with cryptic undertones pertaining to her personal life. "Don't fight evolution, because you will never win… change is inevitable," she wrote in part. On Aug. 13, Liam broke his silence on Instagram: "Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward." The same weekend the split announcement was made, Miley was photographed passionately kissing Brody Jenner's ex, Kaitlynn Carter, in Italy. The women were spotted hooking up again days later back in Los Angeles. On Aug. 22, the pop star took to Twitter to deny — in a passionate rant — that cheating broke up the marriage.

Guilty… but free
Rapper A$AP Rocky was found guilty of assault in Sweden in early August, but he won't serve prison time. On Aug. 14, four judges convicted the rapper and two of his friends of assaulting a man during a street fight in Stockholm in late June. He and his crew claimed self defense, but the court saw it differently. The case captured international attention — and President Trump even got involved. Although Rocky won't serve jail time, he will have to pay restitution to the victim and cover Sweden's court expenses. He's also be on probation for two years. Why won't he be locked up? The judges said he basically already served his time, as he was jailed for a month while the case played out. On Aug. 2, the judges allowed Rocky to fly home to the States while they decided his fate.
Sexual identity statement
Julianne Hough revealed that she's "not straight," though she's married to a man. The "Dancing With the Stars" alum and new "America's Got Talent" judge told Women's Health in its September issue cover story, which came out in August, that she started a "massive transformation" several months after marrying former NHL player Brooks Laich two years ago. Because she has a very emotional and physical intimate relationship with Brooks, it allowed her to be open, she explained. "I [told him], 'You know I'm not straight, right?' And he was like, 'I'm sorry what?' I was like, 'I'm not. But I choose to be with you,'" she told the mag. "I think there's a safety with my husband now that I'm unpacking all of this, and there's no fear of voicing things that I've been afraid to admit or that I've had shame or guilt about because of what I've been told or how I was raised." Brooks later took to social media to praise and support his wife.
Splitsville
After almost 22 years together, Larry King and his seventh wife, Shawn Southwick King, are divorcing. The 85-year-old TV and radio legend filed divorce documents in L.A. Superior Court on Aug. 20. This will be Larry's eighth divorce (he was married to former wife Alene Akins twice). The couple share two adult children, Chance, 20, and Cannon, 19. This is actually the second time Larry has sought to divorce Shawn, 59, though they reconciled after a 2010 split. The divorce looks to be messy, as a report claimed Shawn was blindsided this time around. Other reports alleged that she was meddling in Larry's estate and compromising the inheritance of their two sons, something she — and they — have denied.
Unfollowed!
The relationship between Debra Messing and Megan Mullally is crumbling quick, according to reports and speculation. For months, there have been rumors that the "Will & Grace" stars were feuding. In mid-August, drama heated up as fans noticed that the women no longer follow each other on Instagram though both still follow co-stars Sean Hayes and Eric McCormack. The NBC show already announced that the upcoming season will be series' last, and several media outlets have claimed the "frosty" relationship between the actresses is to blame for the cancellation. The unfollowing news came after Megan deleted a cryptic post on her Instagram Story that said, "One of the best feelings is finally losing your attachment to somebody who isn't good for you!" Many wondered if that was dig at Debra. In a separate cryptic post, Megan said, "Don't ask people for directions if they've never been where you're going!" On Aug. 15, a video from the set showed the women keeping their distance.
R.I.P.
So long, Easy Rider. On Aug. 16, 2019, Hollywood legend Peter Fonda passed away from respiratory failure due to lung cancer. He was 79. After his death, sister Jane Fonda, said, "I am very sad. He was my sweet-hearted baby brother. The talker of the family. I have had beautiful alone time with him these last days. He went out laughing." Many in Hollywood took to social media to honor the two-time Oscar nominee. "I had the honor of working with #PeterFonda on the first movie I ever made (as an angsty teenager with a nose ring)," Jessica Biel said. "Ulee's Gold was a huge opportunity and he believed in me. I'm forever grateful for him and the impact he had on me and my career. I'm sure countless others can say the same. Rest in paradise."
Rehab
Former MTV star Bam Margera checked into rehab in early August after begging Dr. Phil for help, saying his family was in shambles. After meeting with the TV talk show host and psychologist, Bam agreed to seek treatment, and it was recommended that he stay 60 to 90 days. He lasted less than a week and checked out. Then, on Aug. 14, he was arrested for trespassing after refusing to leave a Los Angeles hotel. The details surrounding the arrest are bizarre, as Bam claimed a woman paid him $100,000 to catch her husband cheating. The "Jacka–" star stuck to that story as an officer told him more police were en route to diffuse the situation. After he was released from jail, he was reportedly driven straight to rehab. He again checked out after a few days. He then relapsed and headed back to rehab on Aug. 22.
Dating
Ariana Grande has a new man, according to media outlets that reported in early August that the singer is dating Mikey Foster of the music group Social House. The Blast claimed that Ariana and Mikey don't have "boyfriend/girlfriend" status but said their friendship has "taken a passionate new turn in the recent months." People magazine also reported that the two are dating. Fans began suspecting that Ariana and Mikey were hooking up after the music video for their "Boyfriend" collaboration — in which they have a steamy makeout session — was released. Over the last several weeks, Mikey has been gushing about Ariana on his Instagram.

"He's here," she captioned a sweet shot of the newborn, whom they named Winter Mercy Morissette-Treadway. "My Whole Life I Dreamed of Loving You Three." Mario said that Winter, like their other children, was born at home. Mario took to Instagram after his wife broke news, publicly telling her, "You will forever be my heroine. Thank you for your warrior strength and ability to so deeply love."
Boat accident
"Shark Tank" star Kevin O'Leary was involved in a fatal boat accident in Canada on Aug. 24. Two people died and others were injured when Kevin's boat collided with a larger vessel on Lake Joseph in Ontario. TMZ said Kevin's wife, Linda, was driving their boat at the time. She was given a DUI test and passed. There are differing accounts of what happened — the reality TV star, also known as "Mr. Wonderful, said the larger boat didn't have its navigations lights on when the accident occurred at 11:30 PM. Another source told TMZ the larger vessel did have its lights on. Joe Scali, spokesman for the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police, told Global News, "Both vessels had left the scene and when they reached the location, both vessels were in touch with ambulance for emergency services." Kevin said he's fully cooperating with authorities.
