Nearly a year and a half after filing for divorce, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are still technically married, and very little is known about the divorce proceedings.
The former couple is hoping to keep it that way.
According to new court filings obtained by The Blast, the duo asked to extend the "temporary judge" in their case so that the proceedings continue to remain private. The two have been hashing out custody of their six kids and asset distribution.
Sources told The Blast that the talks have been "very amicable, with both sides keeping their composure and negotiating peacefully." Because of that, the court has agreed to maintain the status quo and keep the talks private.
The two currently have a temporary custody agreement in regards to their kids, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox. Under the current agreement, Angie maintains custody and Brad gets visitation. He has said that he wants joint custody.
The duo, who started dating in 2004, married in 2014. Their split two years later grabbed headlines all over the world. When they split, there were sensational allegations that indicted Brad reportedly got drunk on the family's private plane and had a verbal and physical altercation with his eldest son, Maddox. The Department of Children and Family Services launched an investigation and determined he would not be charged, saying there was no child abuse.
At the time, a rep for Angelina said, "Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal."
After some time had passed and some healing had taken place, Angie was reportedly more sympathetic to Brad.
"Angelina regrets the way she handled certain things and wants to be at peace with Brad," a friend of the actress told E! News last spring. Brad, meanwhile was reportedly determined to "put the kids first and not say anything negative about their mother."
Still, "he feels like his life fell apart in one day. His kids are everything to him and their happiness and success is what's most important. He would never ever put them through what they went through if he could have prevented it," the source said at the time. Another source added, "Brad is way too upset still. He blames Angie for how public everything became. He knows that eventually it is best to forgive her and be on good terms for the sake of the children but he feels let down in a way he never thought was possible. He saw a different side of her and he can't forget. The way everything went down has been beyond comprehension."
