Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's reportedly rekindled romance began via email and with the power of the pen.
TMZ reports that Ben began emailing Jennifer several months ago while she was in the Dominican Republic filming "Shotgun Wedding." In fact, the report states that the duo have been in contact since early February.
The actor was "loving and longing for Jen" in the emails, TMZ claims.
In one of the letters, there was supposedly a reference to J.Lo's love for Ben's writing. There was even a sentence about him being able to "own her heart," the report states. The Oscar-winning actor also reportedly said he wished he could be in the Caribbean with Jen.
Throughout the two-month duration of the back-and-forth emailing, Ben and Jen never had any physical contact.
Jen, of course, was still engaged to Alex Rodriguez at the time, though their romance was on the rocks. In mid-April, Jen and A-Rod called off their engagement and split up.
Around the same time, Jen wrapped "Shotgun Wedding" and returned to her home in Los Angeles. Ben was quickly seen at her house, but sources maintained that they were just friends. However, their relationship seems to be progressing beyond friendship, as they were seen vacationing together last week in Montana, where Ben owns a home.
Ben and Jen famously dated in the early aughts and got engaged in 2002. "Bennifer" — as they were dubbed by the media and fans — later split in 2004 and called off their engagement.
Onlookers who saw the duo in Montana said they looked very much like a couple.
Interestingly, Ben recently gushed about Jennifer in an InStyle magazine cover story.
"She has great talent, but she has also worked very hard for her success, and I'm so happy for her that she seems, at long last, to be getting the credit she deserves," he said.
Another person firmly in the "Bennifer" corner? Ben's BFF Matt Damon.
"I love them both," he told "Today" on Tuesday. "I hope it's true."
