His marriage is over.
"Hot Felon"-turned-model Jeremy Meeks, 33, and Topshop heiress Chloe Green, 26, sparked international headlines in early July when they were photographed passionately kissing on a yacht in Turkey.
When his wife, nurse Melissa Meeks, 38, saw the images — she thought Jeremy was in Europe promoting a vacation resort — she was heartbroken and humiliated.
"I went into shock. I felt nauseated. It was like a bomb had gone off and my whole world had been blown apart," Melissa told The Mail on Sunday in an exclusive interview, which was published on July 9. "I'd never heard of Chloe Green. I thought Jeremy was working."
She tried texting and calling her husband of eight years — who's also a stepfather to two of her children from previous relationships and the biological father of her young son — to no avail. "I was angry, hurt and very, very upset," she explained. "I couldn't get hold of him."
Melissa says she finally spoke to Jeremy — a former gang member who unexpectedly found fame and landed a modeling deal after his mugshot went viral in 2014, earning him the nickname "Hot Felon" — after he flew back to California on July 3. They had a showdown outside their house two days later.
"We had it out on the doorstep. I told him how devastated and angry I am. He kept apologizing — not for the affair, but for the way I learned about it," she explained. "I feel humiliated, not just because my husband was caught with another woman but for the fact they were so brazen about it. He told me, 'I didn't mean it to happen like this.' He kept saying, 'I'm sorry, you didn't deserve this.'"
They discussed splitting up.
"We talked about divorce. I told him I didn't think the marriage could be saved. He agreed," Melissa told The Mail on Sunday. "The marriage is over."
"I loved my husband — I still love him. I never imagined our marriage would end like this in such a humiliating way."
Despite her own agony, Melissa is most concerned about how Jeremy and Chloe's behavior will affect her kids.
"I know it takes two to tango but she knew he was married. To me, that's unforgivable. My whole world has been torn apart by this. What do I tell our children? My heart is broken," she said. "What sort of woman would do something like this to another woman? … Of course I'm angry at her. What she did is unforgivable. And I'm angry at him too… Did either of them think about the children and how this will affect them? They're the innocent victims in this. And so am I," she added.
The fact that she remained by Jeremy's side when he was incarcerated during their marriage makes this even harder to swallow. "I took my marriage vows seriously. I vowed to be there in sickness and health, good times and bad. When Jeremy went to jail for two years, I stuck by him. I went to visit him, supported our family on my own, and sent money to him in jail," she said. "It never occurred to me to leave him. I believed him and I believed in him."
Though she acknowledges that Jeremy started to change once he got a taste of fame, she can still hardly believe this is how their marriage ended.
Said Melissa: "I feel I'm going through a nightmare and will wake up and this will all be a bad dream."
