Heather Locklear has something new to celebrate.
Less than a month after announcing she's marked a year of sobriety, the "Dynasty" and "Melrose Place" actress is proudly marking daughter Ava Sambora's college graduation from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
Heather, 58, posted photos on Instagram praising her only child, 22-year-old Ava, whose dad is Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, 60. Ava earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and hopes to attend graduate school in a year.
"Tomorrow is the big LMU graduation at home for my baby," Heather captioned a photo of Ava wearing a purple sweatshirt and a graduation cap.
Heather didn't stop there: She also shared a snapshot of Ava's framed graduation portrait next to a bouquet of fresh pink hydrangeas, captioning it, "Congratulations baby girl! We are so proud." Heather's old "Melrose Place" co-star Laura Leighton hit her back in the comments, writing, "Congratulations to your beautiful girl! Such an awesome accomplishment, Ava! 💪🏼 🎓 😘."
Heather also shared a pic of Ava's graduation cake — a two-tiered white confection decorated with pink flowers and a mini graduation cap — plus a bottle of pink lemonade and a pink box of Veuve Clicquot champagne decorated with a pink graduation tassel. A cardboard cutout of Ava in her graduation gear is visible behind the celebration gifts.
Ava also took to Instagram to share some images from her graduation day which, like thousands of other students across the nation, went virtual due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. "Yesterday I graduated from Loyola Marymount University! I earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Women's and Gender Studies!" Ava captioned the slideshow of photos, which shows her wearing a white dress and graduation cap and clutching pink flowers while sitting on a blanket in front of a gorgeous backdrop.
"I am hoping to attend graduate school in Fall of 2021! Thank you to all the wonderful people in my life who made this journey possible! Cheers to all the grads! 🥂🌸🎓🦋 #LMU20," Ava added.
