Governor Greg Abbott responded to Jasmine Crockett's recent comments about him, as a joke she made at a dinner was seen as offensive to the disabled community.Abbott, who has been in a wheelchair since 1984, viewed the rhetoric as harmful.

"It's another day and another disaster by the Democrats," Greg Abbott said while appearing on Hannity on Tuesday, March 25."The reality is they have no vision, no policy. They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it," he continued. "It's one reason why Texas is going to remain red."

While at a Human Rights Campaign dinner on Saturday, March 22, Jasmine Crockett made a seemingly insensitive joke about Greg Abbott."We in these hot-a** Texas streets, honey," she said. "Y'all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there."
"Come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot-a** mess, honey," she added.

Following the public appearance, Texas congressman Randy Weber introduced a resolution to censure Jasmine Crockett on Tuesday, March 25.Crockett's comments were labeled as "unbecoming of a Member of Congress" and "discriminatory in nature."

The resolution labeled the joke as one of "the latest in a series of inappropriate comments," as Jasmine Crockett hinted at Marjorie Taylor Greene having a "bad built, bleach blonde, butch body" during an Oversight Committee hearing in 2024.Crockett's chief of staff, Kimberly McClain, shared she is "aware" of the censure measure, but she "has no official statement" on the matter.

In a post on X, Jasmine Crockett addressed the controversy about her comments."I wasn't thinking about the governor's condition — I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable," she wrote on Tuesday, March 25. "
"At no point did I mention or allude to his condition," the civil rights attorney continued.

Jasmine Crockett later pointed out that Donald Trump mocked a disabled journalist in the past, but Greg Abbott and other Republicans still align themselves with the president."I'm even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support [Donald] Trump — a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities — are now outraged," she wrote.
