Geena Davis has settled her split with her ex, but the division of property sounds like it was very one-sided.
Back in 2017, Geena and pediatric plastic surgeon Dr. Reza Jarrahy split after 17 years of marriage. After the breakup, Reza asked for their property to be split equally, and he asked for equal child custody of their three children, one of whom is now an adult. Geena, though, quickly came forward and claimed that they were never actually legally married and effectively told Reza to lawyer up.
While terms of the deal remain confidential, a source told Page Six, "They were very unfavorable to Reza, who agreed to settle just to put this behind him and be free of the nightmare Geena has caused for him."
The sympathetic Reza pal didn't mince words in speaking about the "Thelma and Louise" star.
"Reza has had enough of her narcissism, so he was willing to take a bad deal just to make her go away and refocus on the kids," the source said of the couple's daughter, 19, and twin boys, 17. "This has been devastating for Reza. Geena's priorities since day one have been to preserve her lifestyle and wealth above anything else."
Like the division of property, the custody terms are confidential.
The split was interesting. Despite the actress referring to Reza as her husband for nearly two decades, she maintained that they never legally married — the couple, she insisted, never filed for a marriage license and were married by his father, whom she noted isn't qualified under New York law to bind couples. She also submitted court records in which Reza filed tax returns as a single person because he and Geena were not "officially wed." She also submitted other forms in which he wasn't listed as a legally-binding family member.
Page Six's insider estimated that Geena and Reza spent more than $1.5 million in legal fees to settle their differences.
"All money that could have and should have stayed in the family for their kids' futures," the source said. "The legal fees drove Reza to the brink of bankruptcy. For months on end he had to sleep on friends' couches, in their spare rooms, and even in his car at times in order to keep up with payments to his lawyer. He couldn't have his kids with him while living like that, and it broke his heart … Meanwhile Geena continued to live in their Palisades mansion with the kids, oblivious to the pain she was causing her family. Her lifestyle didn't change a bit."
Geena recently sold the home, but none of the money from the sale went to Reza, as the two weren't actually married and the home was listed in her name.
