After allegations arose that Jamie Spears had been bugging Britney Spears' mansion, the pop star's legal team hired military security specialists to sweep the home of listening devices, a new report claims.
The alleged search — done while Britney was on vacation with fiancé Sam Asghari — was ordered by Britney's lawyer, Mathew Rosengart.
It's not known if anything was found.
"When allegations arose about the spying, action was immediately taken to make sure things were more secure," a source told the Sun. "It was effectively a sweep, similar to what the FBI do."
The specialists reportedly poured over every nook and cranny of Britney's 13,264-square-foot home in Thousand Oaks, California.
"This is pretty serious stuff and taken very seriously," the source told the Sun.
The spying speculation came after a New York Times expose claimed Jamie, who up until last week was in charge of Britney's conservatorship, hired security to secretly record and listen in on the singer.
Prior to the court hearing last week that led to Jamie's ouster, Britney's lawyer brought up the spying allegations and accused the "Toxic" singer's dad of crossing "unfathomable lines" when he "engaged in horrifying and unconscionable invasions of his adult daughter's privacy."
The "intense surveillance apparatus … evidently captured attorney-client communications" as well as "audio recordings from Britney's bedroom, including private communications with her children," the court filing said.
During her bombshell testimony in June, Britney said she's been "traumatized" by her father and called the conservatorship "abusive." She went on to accuse Jamie of having a very heavy-handed approach to the conservatorship, alleging that he plied her with Lithium against her will and made her put an IUD in her body to prevent pregnancy. He also forced her to perform, she maintained.
At the Sept. 29 court hearing, Britney's attorney plainly said, "This man does not belong in her life, your honor, for another day. Please hear the plea of my client."
On Oct. 4, Britney thanked her fans for their support and pleas to remove Jamie from the conservatorship.
"#FreeBritney movement … I have no words … because of you guys and your constant resilience in freeing me from my conservatorship … my life is now in that direction!!!!!" she wrote on Instagram. "I cried last night for two hours cause my fans are the best and I know it … I feel your hearts and you feel mine … that much I know is true 💞 !!!!!"
