Delgado took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share his thoughts.
"New York City deserves a Mayor accountable to the people, not beholden to the President. Mayor Adams should step down," Delgado penned.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was critical of Adams aligning himself with Donald Trump and his administration, as he battles criminal charges.
"Mayor Adams is putting the City of New York and its people at risk in exchange for escaping charges," Ocasio-Cortez said on X. "As long as Trump wields this leverage over Adams, the city is endangered. We cannot be governed under coercion. If Adams won't resign, he must be removed."

For his part, Adams denied the allegations against him.
"From here, my attorneys will take care of the case so I can take care of the city," he said last year in a news conference.
"It's an unfortunate day. And its a painful day. But inside all of that is a day when we will finally reveal why, for 10 months, I've gone through this. And I look forward to defending myself," the former police officer continued.

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams discussed the pending case and the severity of the claims.
"As alleged, Mayor Adams abused his position as this City's highest elected official, and before that as Brooklyn Borough President, to take bribes and solicit illegal campaign contributions," Williams said in a statement.

Adams alleged crimes threatened the safety of New York residents.
"By allegedly taking improper and illegal benefits from foreign nationals — including to allow a Manhattan skyscraper to open without a fire inspection — Adams put the interests of his benefactors, including a foreign official, above those of his constituents," Williams continued.

The southern district of New York is committed to weeding out any form of misconduct.
"This Office and our partners at the FBI and DOI will continue to pursue corruption anywhere in this City, especially when that corruption takes the form of illegal foreign influence on our democratic system," Williams concluded.
