For the first time in 20 years, Drew Barrymore reunited in person with ex-husband Tom Green.
Although Tom appeared on Drew's talk show last year, she admitted they used a green screen to make it appear as though she and her former love were sitting across a couch from each other. In reality, Tom was in Los Angeles and Drew was in New York City. On the Oct. 26 episode of the show, the pair reunited for real: They hugged immediately upon seeing each other after she called him "very special," "magical" and "wonderful."
The former couple quickly began reminiscing about their 2001 honeymoon in Ireland, which Drew called "one of my favorite trips of my life."
"We just jumped in random oceans and found random fields. It was amazing," she said.
After Drew's co-star Ross Mathews jumped in to comment on watching them together for the first time in two decades, Tom said, "I kind of feel like I'm watching this too. I don't know if that's weird, but it's sort of a little bit like an out of body experience."
"It's very nice to see you," he continued. "It does feel weird, though. Not weird in a bad day, weird in a good way… Appreciate it, Drew. Thanks for having me on the show. It's awesome. This is cool. I actually think this is kind of a nice way of reconnecting, actually. It takes a little bit of the pressure off."
"Well, I respect and love you," she replied.
Drew and Tom ended their 15-month marriage in 2002.
As the happy memories flooded in, Ross asked the former duo, "Would you ever go to an ex's wedding?"
"I've never been invited to an ex's wedding," Tom said while humorously shifting his eyes to Drew, clearly referring to her marriage to Will Kopelman, whom she divorced in 2016.
"It makes sense to me," he said of why he wouldn't get invited. "Honestly, I think it makes sense to probably not go to an ex's wedding."
Drew agreed, "I think so too."
