During the appearance, Bash pressed Noem on President Donald Trump allowing Elon Musk full access to sensitive data about American disaster victims at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
"We're working with them at the president's direction to find what we can do to make our department much more efficient," Noem explained. "So, this is essentially an audit of the federal government, which is, which is very powerful."
"And you feel comfortable?" Bash asked the Republican.

"And you feel comfortable?" Bash asked the Republican.
"Absolutely," Noem replied.
"I remember a time when Republicans were very careful and worried about the government, particularly unelected people," Bash pointed out.
"We can't trust the government anymore," the former Governor of South Dakota said.
Bash replied, "You are the government!"

"That's what I'm saying," Noem made clear. "It's that the American people now are saying that we have had our personal information shared."
"Elon Musk is part of the administration that is helping us identify where we can find savings and what we can do and has gone through the processes to make sure that he has the authority," the former South Dakota State Representative added.
Social media users were not impressed by Noem's slip-up. "Noem is proving that brunettes are the real dumb blondes," one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Kristi Noemi: 'Well, we can't trust our government anymore.' I agree it's true you are not to be trusted," a second person penned.
"Noem is an absolute idiot!" a third chimed in.
Elsewhere in Noem's discussion with Bash, she slammed FEMA for how they handled the fires in Los Angeles, Calif., and Hurricane Helene in North Carolina.

"Get rid of FEMA the way they exist today," the right-winger explained. "We still need the resources and the funds and the finances to go to people that have these types of disasters, like Hurricane Helene and the fires in California, but you need to let the local officials make the decisions on how that is deployed."
The television personality noted how she "took a trip with FEMA Director" Deanne Criswell and insits "she cares," Bash emphasized.
"What I appreciated about her was, when North Carolina got hit, she did come and I think showing up is a big portion of what needs to have happened," Noem said.
