Who says the end of a marriage has to mean the end of a friendship?
When Bruce Willis turned 66 on Friday, March 19, he got plenty of love from both his wife, Emma Heming, and his ex-wife, Demi Moore.
"Happy birthday, BW! You are a one of a kind!" Demi wrote on Instagram alongside a sweet photo of the former couple goofing off with their daughters, Rumer Willis, Scout Willis and Talullah Willis, and some friends. "So thankful to share these three beautiful girls and for our blended families ❤️❤️❤️," the actress added.
Bruce's current wife marked the "Die Hard" star's big day on social media, too, joking that being married to Bruce is lovely … and "exhausting."
"Happy Birthday to the greatest love of my life," Emma captioned a photo of the pair sharing a kiss on Instagram. "This guy walked into my life has turned it upside and inside out every day since—it's exhausting 😂 He's the greatest man I know and I thank my lucky stars for him every single day 🧡 I know there's no fan greater than a BW fan so send your positive birthday vibes his way. His sensitive Pisces soul will love it."
Demi's remained close friends with Bruce since she filed for divorce in 2000 after four years of marriage. The pair even quarantined together in 2020 at the start of the coronavirus pandemic. During an appearance on the "Dopey" podcast last April, Scout revealed that Emma and the girls she shares with Bruce, Mabel and Evelyn, were supposed to join Bruce, Demi and their daughters at Demi's home in Idaho at the start of the lockdown. Evelyn ended up stepping on a needle in a park, however, which forcred Emma and the girls to stay in L.A. while waiting for test results.
They eventually joined Bruce, Demi, Rumer, Tallulah and Scout in time to celebrate Evelyn's 6th birthday.
As Demi explained in her memoir, "Inside Out," she remains "proud" of the way she and Bruce divorced. "[It] wasn't easy at first, but we managed to move the heart of our relationship, the heart of what created our family, into something new that gave the girls a loving, supportive environment with both parents."
In the end, Demi said, she and Bruce, "felt more connected" after they split than before.
