Danny Masterson continues to believe that Leah Remini is pulling the strings when it comes to his rape case.
In new court documents, the "That '70s Show" actor claims that Leah is pushing her contacts inside the Los Angeles Police Department to get him prosecuted, TMZ reports.
Danny, who's an active Scientologist, has been charged with raping three women —all identified as Jane Doe — between 2001 and 2003. He denies all the accusations. Leah is an ex-Scientologist and has been at odds with the church and its members, such as Danny, for years.
Last month, Danny and his team alleged that Leah was deeply involved in the case and claimed that she urged three women to make sexual assault accusations against him. Now, he claims that an LAPD detective — who moonlights as her bodyguard — has been making calls about the case on Leah's behalf.
The detective, Danny alleges in court records, "had a history of trying to influence LAPD investigations" at Leah's direction. He points to an alleged call the detective made to Austin police about one of the accusers. "[The L.A. detective] has no professional investigative interest in this report, as he does not investigate sexual assault cases. It is later revealed he is Leah Remini's close friend,'" an Austin detective supposedly wrote in a police report.
Danny further believes that prosecutors are actively encouraging Leah to be involved and stay in contact with them. In fact, he contends that Leah threatened the prosecution with a negative public relations campaign if they didn't push forward with Dannys's case.
Leah's involvement, the actor says, almost got her in the room where police were interviewing the accusers.
Danny's team previously argued that it's difficult to prepare a proper defense under the current timeline because of the alleged bias and affection toward Leah.
If convicted on all charges, the actor faces 45 years to life behind bars.
