According to The Idaho Statesmen, Kohberger's lawyer is claiming authorities found new blood evidence via two unidentified males from the Moscow home the young adults shared.
Per the defense attorney, DNA from one anonymous male was found on a handrail and another man's prints were found outside the home — which was torn down in December 2023 — on a glove.

During a hearing in January, Ada County District Judge Steven Hippler brushed off any speculation the killer could have been anyone but Kohberger, citing the leather knife sleeve left in the bed of one of the four victims had his DNA on it.
"How does that, even if disclosed, preclude a finding of probable cause when there's a DNA match between the DNA on the sheath and Mr. Kohberger?" the jurist questioned Kohberger's lawyer, Anne Taylor.

"Isn't that probable cause every day and twice on Sunday?" Hippler pressed.
"If that's the only thing she's told, I can see why she'd find probable cause," Taylor shot back. "It's these other things that are withheld that create a context around it. Do we want to have one thing with no context around it when there's this other context that really matters?"

During the second anniversary of the horrific event, the parents of those killed spoke out about the trajectory of the case.
"I feel like now that we've moved it down to Boise, as much as we didn't want that, that was the right choice," Kristi Goncalves told ABC News last year about the legal proceedings. "And I'm glad that it, you know, in hindsight that it happened and I feel like things are going to start moving, although it still seems very slow."

"It's more about, honestly, the 23 hours of confinement and not being able to be enrolled in college education and being able to further his career and his influence on society," Steve Goncalves added of the person who allegedly took the life of his child.
Kohberger was charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary. He entered a plea of not guilty and may face the death penalty.
