It's over for "The Bachelorette" couple Clare Crawley and Dale Moss.
On Jan. 19, TMZ reported that Dale, 32, broke things off with Clare, 39, over the weekend, and there is a suspicion that distance was a factor — he lives in New York City, while she lives in Sacramento, California.
Moments after the report hit the Internet, Dale confirmed the split on Instagram.
"I wanted share with you all that Clare and I have decided to go our separate ways. We appreciate the love and support we've received from so many people, but this is the healthiest decision for both of us at this time," he wrote. "We strongly believe in leading with love and always remaining true to oneself – something our families have taught and instilled in us throughout our lives. We only hope the best things for one another."
The split ends one of the fastest on-screen romances of all time. The duo met over the summer while filming "The Bachelorette" in a bubble environment. The moment Clare met Dale, she mentioned that he was "husband" material. She then continued to fall hard for Dale, essentially snubbing the other guys vying for her heart in order to focus entirely on him.
After just three weeks of filming, Clare left the show with Dale by her side. She was replaced by Tayshia Adams.
Prior to the split, there had been reports that Clare and Dale were experiencing turbulence in their romance. Just a few hours before Dale's announcement, an Us Weekly source said, "Dale and Clare are technically still together but there are serious issues they are working through. They're in communication but on a break."
Interestingly enough, Clare posted an intimate image with her now-former fiancé to her Instagram on Jan. 9. He shared a video with her a few days earlier.
Just last month, Clare mistakenly referred to Dale as her "husband," prompting many to wonder if they'd secretly tied the knot.
On Dec. 10, the former star of "The Bachelorette" posted a video on her Instagram Story in which she said, "Nothing makes me happier than grocery shopping with my husband." She later told her followers they were not married and blamed her wording on a "slip of the tongue."
While gushing about Dale in November, she said, "Everything he was looking for was everything I was looking for. He doesn't even realize he does this for me, but last night, I was having the worst anxiety ever, and [he] showed up when I was pacing around the pool with anxiety. He just grabbed my hand and paced with me around the pool. That's all I've ever wanted is a man to show up for me — not only when it's easy, not only when it's good and fun and pretty in ball gowns and all that. But, like, show up when I'm in my yoga pants and no makeup, and my hair's in a greasy knot. Like, show up for me. He's done that every single time."
