A judge has thrown a curveball into Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards' child support situation.
Court records show that the "Major League" star's request to stop paying his ex-wife for their two children— Sami, 17, and Lola, 16 — was granted.
"I think what transpired today is extremely fair," Charlie told Us Weekly after the decision on Oct. 4. "It speaks to not just today, but it speaks historically to that same fairness."
In the actor's eyes, this is a long time coming, as he first requested to eliminate the payments to the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" alum nearly two years ago.
In court, Charlie's lawyers argued that he's had total custody of Sami and Lola since April. The lawyer also said Denise had not objected to Charlie's request, nor was she in court. However, a source told Page Six that a little sleight of hand was being played, indicating that Denise wasn't in court "because she is working out of state, which Charlie was well aware of."
"Denise was never served this court date. [Charlie] did this on purpose," the insider claimed. "He filed two years ago and he kept pushing the court date. Denise kept asking when the date was and he blew her off. He pushed it off because he didn't want records of the child support he was paying [third ex-wife Brooke Mueller] to impact the case after he agreed to pay them both the same amount of child support."
The "Two and a Half Men" star shares sons, Bob and Max, 12, with Brooke.
Page Six's source contends that little will actually change between Charlie and Denise, claiming he hasn't paid the "Wild Things" actress in "at least" four years.
"No child support at all," the source said. "He owes her."
Last month, the children's living situation received some attention after Sami claimed she moved out of an "abusive household." Although she didn't give any details involved with her allegations, she now lives with Charlie. The teen also said on social media that her mom had been trying to kick her out.
While this was happening, Denise chalked up Sam's allegations to teenage angst.
"Denise set normal rules that any parent would be setting. She's a mom and a parent and there are rules. She didn't want to follow the rules," a source told Page Six last month. "Charlie didn't support implementing Denise's rules. He has a different way of parenting and Sami decided to live with her dad.
The source added, "Denise loves her daughter very much and she's saddened by the situation."
In a statement about the living arrangement, Charlie said, "Sam's amazing. I love her and all my children unconditionally. We're having a ball. GED here we come!"
