Paramount Global, which owns CBS, recently filed a motion for the court to dismiss Donald Trump's $20 billion lawsuit against CBS News.The president sued the network over its 60 Minutes interview with then-Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

Trump accused the network of using deceptive editing to make Harris appear as a more favorable candidate. But CBS is fighting the election interference allegations.In a legal filing, CBS argued that Trump's lawsuit was "an affront to the First Amendment and is without basis in law or fact."
"They not only ask for $20 billion in damages but also seek an order directing how a news organization may exercise its editorial judgment in the future," the motion read. "The First Amendment stands resolutely against these demands."

Trump has long been a vocal critic of legacy media. His lawyer recently doubled down on his stance."President Trump is committed to holding those who traffic in fake news, hoaxes, and lies to account," Trump attorney Ed Paltzik told Fox News Digital.

Trump's lawyer stood by his client's claims.
"CBS and Paramount committed the worst kind of election interference and fraud in the closing days of the most important presidential election in history," Paltzik said. "President Trump will pursue this vital matter to its just and rightful conclusion."

In Trump's argument, the president cited CBS's decision to air two different responses when Harris was asked about the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
"The work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region," Harris responded in footage aired by Face the Nation.

While Face the Nation aired Hariss's lengthy response, 60 Minutes edited down her reaction.
"We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end," Harris told Bill Whitaker.

CBS shared the unedited transcript after the network was accused of violating the FCC's "news distortion" policy."The work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region," the former vice president said, according to the transcript.
