Britney Spears is heading into 2021 with a new 'do.
On Dec. 16, the pop star took to Instagram to debut shoulder-length hair.
"Cut my hair 💇🏼♀ !!!! You know what they say …. out with the old …. in with the new!!!!! Now let us pray 😉💋🙂✨ !!!!" she wrote alongside the image.
Commented her boyfriend, Sam Asghari, "I love it." He also added four heart emojis.
Overall, fans seemed to like the shorter look.
Britney, 39, later posted several more similar selfies. A couple fans — clearly those in the growing #FreeBritney camp — suggested that the pictures aren't actually Britney but rather a lookalike.
Fans have been skeptical of the pop star's Instagram feed for well over a year, as many believe she's not actually behind the account. Others think she's using Instagram to covertly send signals to her fans.
The fans' ire stems primarily from her conservatorship, which her father, Jamie Spears, has run since 2008. Last year, the "Toxic" singer fanned the #FreeBritney flames when she told a judge that Jamie committed her to a mental health facility against her will and also forced her to take drugs.
In an interview with CNN on Dec. 15, Jamie said he and Britney haven't spoken in four months and claimed her attorneys are behind the estrangement.
"I love my daughter and I miss her very much," he said. "When a family member needs special care and protection, families need to step up, as I have done for the last 12-plus years, to safeguard, protect and continue to love Britney unconditionally. I have and will continue to provide unwavering love and fierce protection against those with self-serving interests and those who seek to harm her or my family."
At a court hearing last month, Britney's attorney said the pop star was "afraid" of her father.
