"When you have power, it allows you to get more power. And now they have all the power," the Real Time with Bill Maher host explained. "That's not good. I'm not sure we will ever see another election."
Maher pointed out why his theory isn't so far-fetched after Trump refused to leave the White House in January 2021 when President Joe Biden defeated him in the 2020 election.

"He's replacing those people who stopped him last time with loyalists, which is what he has been doing," the 69-year-old added.
The commentator explained how the MAGA community thinks it's their "patriotic duty" to make sure The Apprentice star, 78, maintains his power. "They think, to stay in office no matter what that takes. It's a little like the old 'we have to destroy the village to save it.' To save democracy, we have to not have democracy," he continued.

With Trump's bullying of fellow world leaders and the stronghold of Republican leadership, Maher said it's the perfect storm to have the country deal with "Donald Trump forever."
"They're chanting 'Trump 2028.' Put that on page one of things we never used to see in America before — a guy who is already had in his second term and they're chanting for the third term. Nobody even thought to do that. It's a joke now: 'Ha ha, get it? We're ending democracy.' Yeah, except that today's joke becomes a little more realistic," the television personality said.

Despite the speculation, the constitution states "no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice."

Although there are clear signs of Trump not wanting to leave Washington, D.C., the right-wing leader's 2020 campaign manager claimed he's not serious about staying longer.
"President Trump joking about a third term is like a chef joking about putting a Michelin star on his own restaurant — obviously not happening, but fun to watch the critics lose their minds over it," Brad Parscale told the news outlet.
