Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated?
A very famous, highly-celebrated chef is opening up about his experience cooking for Victoria Beckham, claiming she didn't exactly want to spice up her dietary life.
Dani Garcia, a three Michelin star chef, recalled Victoria accompanying her husband, David Beckham, to the June 2019 wedding of Sergio Ramos and Pilar Rubio in Spain. Dani was hired to cook for the wedding.
"It was very strange. Victoria Beckham changed the whole menu," the chef said while on Spanish TV's popular "El Hormiguero" show. "It was very sad because when you make such an effort, not just me and my team but the bride and groom and everyone else to create a unique menu."
The former Spice Girl wasn't enthralled by the menu, it seems.
"Hers was totally different and just based around vegetables. And then there were some odd things that I've never seen in my life," Dani said. "She had coconut water, all the time, a bowl of mints and then on the other side hydroalcoholic gel which is very famous now but back then wasn't because the Covid pandemic hadn't started."
He concluded, "It was complicated giving Victoria her menu that night."
Not long after the comments, a source close to the fashion icon came to her defense.
"This makes a great story but isn't fair or accurate – the most Victoria would have done when asked about dietary requirements is ask for some plain fish and vegetables," the source said.
Victoria's stringent diet is well known and hardly disputed. She once said her favorite meal is whole grain toast with salt.
David spoke about his wife's relationship with food just months ago on the River Che Table 4 podcast.
"I get quite emotional about food and wine, when I'm eating something great I want everyone to try it," he said. "Unfortunately I'm married to someone that has eaten the same thing for the last 25 years. Since I met her she only eats grilled fish, steamed vegetables, she will very rarely deviate from that."
