Things are looking good for Chrishell Stause on "Dancing With The Stars," but they were nearly looking rosy a decade ago.
The "Selling Sunset" star was very close to being cast as "The Bachelorette" in 2008, both she and ABC confirmed.
Earlier this week, ABC executive Robert Mills spoke about "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" franchises while on Nick Viall's Viall Files podcast.
"She would never remember this. I've actually had lunch with Chrishell, this was 10 or 11 years ago, to talk about being the Bachelorette," he told Nick.
At the time, "The Bachelor" was being produced consistently, but its counterpart was not.
"There was like four Bachelors for every one Bachelorette," Robert said. "At that point we didn't know who it was going to be, so we were looking for people and our casting director said, 'We should meet with this girl Chrishell Stause, she's amazing.'"
After their meeting, Robert was convinced that Chrishell, who was then starring on "All My Children," was the next woman to head the show.
Around that time, Brad Womack's season aired and he let go of two women at the end, including fan favorite DeAnna' [Pappas]. Producers felt that they needed to let DeAnna lead the show, which meant Chrishell was out.
Chrishell, for her part, said she vividly remembers flirting ABC's lovestruck franchise.
"I was in line to be the next Bachelorette. And [Rob] kind of said it, oh she probably doesn't remember. And the funny thing is that I definitely remember," she said on her Instagram Story. "Because on my side, the way I was approached about, was that All My Children, which I was on at the time, was going to do a cross story line and so at the time I was a model on the show. Infusion, this makeup company, so they were going to do a win a date with our model type of story line… which they were going to cross promote on ABC daytime and primetime… so that was the way it was brought to me."
She added, "So anyway I definitely remember that. So funny, it's all intertwined. what could have been. Brad Womack hadn't not picked someone, anyways, so funny!"
