'Coyote Ugly' cast: Where are they now?

No one got people dancing in the summer of 2000 like the ladies of "Coyote Ugly." Based on the iconic New York City bar Coyote Ugly Saloon, the romantic comedy-drama became an unlikely box office hit, grossing more than $113 million worldwide. The film is about a New Jersey songwriter with a severe case of stage fright who learns to come out of her shell while making a living with the bar-dancing sirens who work at a local hotspot. It starred Piper Perabo in a breakout role, and despite the critical apathy at the time, the movie has developed a cult following in the two decades since thanks to its fiery female ensemble cast as well as its iconic soundtrack, which includes the LeAnn Rimes classic "Can't Fight the Moonlight." Piper Perabo led the cast as Violet Sanford, an aspiring songwriter who moves to New York City to make it big. But first, she makes a living as a dancing bartender at the popular Coyote Ugly bar, which helps her overcome her crippling stage fright.

"Coyote Ugly" marked the first lead role for Piper Perabo, who had only one big-screen credit to her name before snagging a part in the film. Piper's first acting job came just a month after moving to New York City to pursue acting in the indie comedy "Whiteboyz." It was only a year later that the Dallas-born actress landed "Coyote Ugly," earning herself an MTV Movie Award. Also in 2000, Piper had a major role in "The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle." She then focused on independent films such as "Lost and Delirious" in 2001 and "Slap Her… She's French" in 2002. Piper followed that up with the hit "Cheaper by the Dozen" in 2003 playing the eldest child in the giant family and returned for the sequel in 2005. Soon after, she had parts in 2005's "Imagine Me & You," 2006's "The Prestige" and 2008's "Beverly Hills Chihuahua." Also in 2008, Piper made her off-Broadway debut in the Neil LaBute play "Reasons to Be Pretty." In 2010, she made a splash on TV with USA's "Covert Affairs." The hit series ran for five seasons and earned Piper a Golden Globe nomination. Outside of "Covert Affairs," she's also had major roles on the short-lived shows "Go On" in 2012 and "Notorious" in 2016. More recently, Piper co-starred on the Idris Elba Netflix comedy series "Turn Up Charlie" and in the action-movie hit "Angel Has Fallen" in 2019. She can currently be seen on the Showtime drama "Penny Dreadful: City of Angels." Beyond acting, Piper is part owner of the New York City bar Employees Only and the restaurant Jack's Wife Freda. She's been married to director-writer Stephen Kay since 2014.

Maria Bello starred as Lil, the owner of the Coyote Ugly bar who takes Violet under her wing. The character is based on Liliana Lovell, the founder of the real Coyote Ugly Saloon on which the film is based.

Ahead of "Coyote Ugly," Maria Bello had started developing a career on the big and small screens. In 1997, Maria joined the cast of "ER" for the hit medical drama's fourth season. Shortly after, the Pennsylvania native landed parts in the indie drama "Permanent Midnight" in 1998 and the Mel Gibson actioner "Payback" in 1999. After "Coyote Ugly," the actress had Golden Globe-nominated roles in 2003's "The Cooler" and 2005's "A History of Violence." Maria balanced these critical darlings with bigger box office fare like "Assault on Precinct 13" in 2005, "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" in 2008 and "Grown Ups" in 2010 (as well as its 2013 sequel). The star returned to television with a couple of episodes of "Law & Order: SVU" in 2010 and followed that with major roles on the short-lived dramas "Prime Suspect" in 2010 and "Touch" in 2012. Since 2017, Maria has been a lead player on the CBS hit procedural "NCIS." The activist founded WE ADVANCE after the 2010 Haiti earthquake to help boost healthcare and put an end to domestic violence for Haitian women. She is also a board member of the Darfur Women Action Group, which helps genocide victims of the Darfur conflict. Maria even published the book "Whatever…Love Is Love: Questioning the Labels We Give Ourselves" in 2015. She has a son with former boyfriend Dan McDermott and has been engaged to chef Dominique Crenn since 2019.

John Goodman provided a shot of testosterone in "Coyote Ugly" as Violet's loving but sometimes overbearing father, Bill. Violet is determined to strike out on her own but also wants to help her dad move on from the death of her mother.

John Goodman was one of America's favorite character actors long before he appeared in "Coyote Ugly." John found fame playing Dan Conner on the hit sitcom "Roseanne" for nine seasons in the late 1980s and early 1990s and earned a Golden Globe for his work. Beyond that, he had parts in 1987's "Raising Arizona," 1992's "The Babe," 1994's "The Flintstones" and 1998's "The Big Lebowski." Also in 2000, John starred in the indie hit "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and lent his voice to the Disney comedy "The Emperor's New Groove." Since then, his varied credits include 2001's "Monsters Inc.," 2009's "The Princess and the Frog," 2011's "The Artist," 2012's "Argo" and "Flight," 2013's "The Hangover Part III" and "Monsters University," 2016's "10 Cloverfield Lane" and "Transformers: The Last Knight" and 2017's "Kong: Skull Island." The Missouri native is currently reprising the role of Dan Conner on ABC's sitcom reboot "The Conners" and starring on the HBO comedy "The Righteous Gemstones." He married Annabeth Hartzog in 1989. The pair had a daughter the following year.

Adam Garcia portrayed Kevin, the hunky love interest in "Coyote Ugly." Kevin is a hustler determined to help Violet become a success at any cost, and he does everything he can to help her overcome her stage fright.

Adam Garcia began his career on the stage. The Australian actor left college early to take a role in the touring production of the musical "Hot Shoe Shuffle" in the mid-1990s. He followed that with a part in the British biopic "Wilde" in 1997 and a lead role in the West End production of "Saturday Night Fever" in 1998, a performance that earned him a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award (the British equivalent of a Tony). His cover of the Bee Gees' "Night Fever" from the musical even became a Top 20 hit in the U.K. The actor followed "Coyote Ugly" with the Australian dramedy "Bootmen," the lead voice role in 2003's "Kangaroo Jack" and the 2004 Lindsay Lohan comedy "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen." Adam then went back to the stage, starring in the original West End production of "Wicked" alongside Idina Menzel from 2006 to 2007. He received another Olivier Award nomination in 2013 for his work in a British production of "Kiss Me, Kate" and served as a judge for four seasons on the U.K. dance competition series "Got to Dance" between 2010 and 2014. More recently, Adam was seen in 2017's all-star mystery "Murder on the Orient Express." He's set to star in the upcoming sequel, "Death on the Nile." He married longtime girlfriend Nathalia Chubin in 2015. The pair have two children.

Tyra Banks had a small but seminal role as Zoe, Coyote Ugly's departing bartender who trades in her bar dancing and low-rise jeans to become a law student. It's Zoe's exit that paves the way for Violet's start at the rowdy hot spot.

Tyra Banks was already one of the world's most famous supermodels when she signed on to "Coyote Ugly" and was easily the film's biggest name. The same year the movie came out, the Los Angeles-born star had the lead role in the iconic TV movie "Life-Size" as well as a small part in "Love & Basketball." In 2002, she also appeared in the horror sequel "Halloween: Resurrection." The following year, the budding mogul created "America's Next Top Model" through her production company, Bankable Productions. "ANTM" became one of TV's most successful reality competition series, running for 24 seasons. In 2005, the multi-hyphenate launched her own talk show, which ran for five seasons and won two Daytime Emmys. In 2011, Tyra enrolled in the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School. The star then used her non-degree certificate to found the cosmetics brand Tyra Beauty in 2014. Bridget Moynahan starred as tough-talking, no-nonsense Rachel — Coyote Ugly's resident bad-girl bartender who doesn't take any lip from the bar's rowdy male patrons.

Bridget Moynahan got her start as a successful model, gracing covers for Vogue Paris, ELLE and Glamour magazines. She also appeared in numerous department-store catalogs and television commercials before pursuing acting and making her television debut on "Sex and the City" as Mr. Big's wife, Natasha. The New York-born star then made her big-screen debut in "Coyote Ugly." Also in 2000, Bridget had a role in the comedy "Whipped." She followed it with hits like "Serendipity" in 2001, "The Sum of All Fears" in 2002, "The Recruit" in 2003 and "I, Robot" in 2004. Bridget then moved back to TV, securing roles on the short-lived ABC dramas "Six Degrees" in 2006 and "Eli Stone" in 2008. Since 2010, she's starred on the CBS police drama "Blue Bloods." Bridget dated NFL star Tom Brady from 2004 to 2006 and shortly after breaking up, she gave birth to their son, Jack. She married businessman Andrew Frankel in 2015.

Izabella Miko played sweet heartbreaker Cammie. A Coyote Ugly veteran, Cammie helps show Violet the ropes, easing her into the crowded and often chaotic nights that make up their shifts.

Izabella Miko moved to New York City from her native Poland as a teenager to study at the School of American Ballet and at the Lee Strasberg Institute for acting. "Coyote Ugly" served as Izabella's first acting role in the States. Shortly after, she earned a starring role in the 2001 vampire thriller "The Forsaken." In 2005, Izabella had a recurring role on the HBO hit "Deadwood" and starred in The Killers' "Mr. Brightside" music video. She next took over for Julia Stiles in the 2006 direct-to-DVD sequel "Save the Last Dance 2." Izabella then moved into a series of indie films before taking on 2010's "Clash of the Titans" remake and the 2014 sequel "Step Up: All In." She followed those with small parts on TV hits like "Blue Bloods," "Scorpion" and "Chicago Fire." The star also re-teamed with The Killers for their 2012 music video for "Miss Atomic Bomb." More recently, Izabella was seen in guest roles on CBS's "Criminal Minds" and Amazon's "Hunters." The environmental activist has a sustainable candle line, EkoMiko Candles, as well as an eco foundation called EkoMiko.

LeAnn Rimes only had a small on-screen role — she played herself — at the end of "Coyote Ugly," but the Grammy winner also provided the singing voice for Piper Perabo's Violet throughout the film. She's also responsible for four songs on the film's hit soundtrack including the massive single "Can't Fight the Moonlight."

The same year "Coyote Ugly" came out, former child star LeAnn Rimes released one of her signature hits, 2000's "I Need You." The Grammy winner's next two albums, 2001's "I Need You" and 2002's "Twisted Angel," saw the artist exploring a more adult, pop-leaning side. The results were less successful than her previous albums, but that didn't stop LeAnn from staying busy. She followed them up with two greatest hit collections, a Christmas album and a series of children's books. LeAnn released three more albums in the 2000s, two of which reached the top 10 in the U.S. In 2009, she starred in the Lifetime movie "Northern Lights." It was on that film's set that she met future husband Eddie Cibrian, with whom she began an affair that led to both of them leaving their spouses: LeAnn divorced dancer-turned-chef Dean Sheremet in 2010 and Eddie ended his marriage to Brandi Glanville the same year. They wed in 2011. LeAnn put out four additional albums in the 2010s including a second Christmas collection.
