It's the film that started it all! It's hard to believe we were first introduced to Buffy Summers and the evil lurking in Sunnydale by way of Kristy Swanson 30 years ago! To celebrate the 30th anniversary of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" — the movie that inspired a hit TV show of the same name — on July 31, 1992, Wonderwall.com is checking in on the movie's stars to find out what they're up to (and what they look like) now!

After portraying the titular vampire slayer, Kristy Swanson went on to star in a handful of films including "The Chase" alongside Charlie Sheen, "Big Daddy" alongside Adam Sandler and "Dude, Where's My Car?" alongside Ashton Kutcher. In 2022, she landed a starring role on the drama series "Sons of Thunder." Kristy married Canadian Olympic skater Lloyd Eisler, whom she met on "Skating with Celebrities," in 2009. They share a son.

Luke Perry played Oliver Pike, Buffy's love interest and former classmate in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

Luke Perry was already a bona fide heartthrob by the time he starred in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." The "Beverly Hills, 90210" actor, who played bad boy Dylan McKay on the hit teen series from 1990 to 1995, found major small screen success once more in 2017 when he started playing Fred Andrews on The CW's "Riverdale." Luke married Rachel "Minnie" Sharp a year after "Buffy" came out and they divorced a decade later after welcoming two kids. The actor tragically passed away in March 2019 at 52 after suffering a stroke. Later that year, he posthumously appeared in Quentin Tarantino's hit movie "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was just the beginning for Hilary Swank. After appearing in "The Next Karate Kid" and the eighth season of "Beverly Hills, 90210," she delivered her two most lauded performances in 1999's "Boys Don't Cry" and 2004's "Million Dollar Baby," winning best actress Oscars and Golden Globe Awards for both. More recently, she starred on the Netflix series "Away" in 2020. She was married to actor Chad Lowe from 1996 to 2006. She and second husband Philip Schneider tied the knot in 2018.

Donald Sutherland has remained a steady force in Hollywood since starring in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." The Canadian actor — who's the father of actor Kiefer Sutherland — starred in "The Italian Job," "Pride & Prejudice" and "The Hunger Games" franchise, among others. More recently, he starred on the 2020 HBO Max miniseries "The Undoing."

Rutger Hauer took on the role of Lothos, the vampire king with a love for playing the violin, in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

After "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Blade Runner" star Rutger Hauer most notably appeared in the films "Batman Begins" and "Sin City" and had a stint on the hit HBO series "True Blood." The Dutch actor passed away in July 2019 at 75.
