Are you as hyped about the new season of "SIX," the show inspired by Navy SEAL Team Six, as we are? We thought so! This time around, Olivia Munn joins the cast for Season 2, which premieres on the History channel on May 28, 2018. Wonderwall.com is celebrating the drama's return with a look at our favorite shows about members of the armed forces. So, in no particular order, here are some of the greatest military shows yet!
"The A-Team"
The "A-Team," a show about former members of a fake U.S. Army Special Forces unit, ran on NBC from 1983 to 1987. The show pumped up the career of Mr. T, who played B.A. Baracus. In 2010, a movie called "The A-Team," which was based on the show, hit theaters. It starred Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper and Jessica Biel.

"The Pacific"
"The Pacific" was a jaw-droppingly well-done companion miniseries to "Band of Brothers" that aired on HBO in 2010. It focused on the experiences of three Marines (including one played by star James Badge Dale, pictured) in different regiments of the 1st Marine Division who were fighting in the Pacific Theater during WWII and ran for 10 episodes.
"M*A*S*H"
One of the most popular shows about war ever, "M*A*S*H," was adapted from the 1970 movie of the same name. It focused on a crew of Army doctors stationed in South Korea during the Korean War and premiered on CBS in 1977 and wrapped in 1983.
"SEAL Team"
CBS's "SEAL Team," which premiered in 2017 and is still on the air, follows Navy SEALs through training and missions. It stars David Boreanaz (left) and has featured "Mad Men" star Jessica Paré.
"Army Wives"
Leave it to Lifetime to create "Army Wives," a drama about the lives of a crew of military spouses that was downright addicting. The show, which aired from 2007 to 2013, was sexy and full of theatrics. It's also one of the first places we were able to watch Emmy-winning "This Is Us" star Sterling K. Brown regularly, as he played the husband of a colonel.
"China Beach"
The ABC war drama "China Beach" was set around Dana Delany's character Colleen, a nurse working in a Vietnam War evacuation hospital. Dana won a best actress Emmy for her performance on the hit series, which aired from 1988 to 1991.
"Generation Kill"
"Generation Kill," a seven-party HBO miniseries that aired in 2008, won three Emmys. Based on a book of the same name written by Rolling Stone journalist Evan Wright, it told the story of a reporter's experiences being embedded with the U.S. Marine Corps' 1st Reconnaissance Battalion during America's 2003 invasion of Iraq. It memorably starred a young Alexander Skarsgard (pictured) as a sergeant nearly a decade before he won an Emmy for his work in another HBO show, "Big Little Lies."
"JAG"
"JAG," which ran from 1995 to 2005, aired for one season on NBC then nine more seasons on CBS. "JAG," an acronym for Judge Advocate General, was a U.S. Navy-focused legal drama starring (from left) Patrick Labyorteaux, David James Elliott, John M. Jackson and Catherine Bell.
"NCIS"
"NCIS" debuted on CBS in 2003 as a "JAG" spinoff and has gone on to become the second-longest running scripted non-animated U.S. primetime series behind "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." The show, about agents who investigate U.S. Navy and Marine Corps crimes, is still on the air. Seen here are stars (from left) Daniel Gillies, Cote de Pablo, Michael Weatherly and Mark Harmon on a 2010 episode.
"The Last Ship"
We fell head over heels for Eric Dane as Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan on "Grey's Anatomy" and continued our love affair when he became the lead on TNT's sci-fi drama "The Last Ship," which follows the crew of a Navy destroyer that must stop a virus that's wiped out 80 percent of the planet's population.
"The Unit"
"The Unit" focused on an American super-secret operations team modeled after the unit known as Delta Force. This CBS drama ran from 2006 to 2009 and starred Scott Foley and Dennis Haysbert.
"Major Dad"
"Major Dad" ran on CBS from 1989 to 1993. It was a cute family-focused sitcom about a U.S. Marine Corps major (played by Gerald McRaney) based at a fictional camp modeled after the real-life Camp Pendleton who falls for a liberal journalist with three daughters.
"The Rat Patrol"
Four soldiers ride through the North African desert during WWII in Jeeps armed with machine guns. That was the premise of the ABC show "The Rat Patrol," which aired from 1966 to 1968. Their mission was "to attack, harass and wreak havoc" — and the show definitely delivered the action.
"Jericho"
"Jericho" starring Skeet Ulrich first aired on CBS in 2006 but was cancelled after its first season. However, a fan campaign convinced CBS to bring it back. But the post-apocalyptic drama set in the fake city of Jericho, Kansas, after a nuclear attack, was cancelled again just seven episodes into its second season.
"Hogan's Heroes"
"Hogan's Heroes," a sitcom with a WWII German prisoner of war camp as its backdrop, ran from 1965 to 1971 on CBS. The show won two Emmys, both of which went to Werner Klemperer (right), who played an inept camp commandant.
"NCIS: Los Angeles"
CBS's "NCIS: Los Angeles," which premiered in 2009, was the first spinoff of "NCIS." It stars Chris O'Donnell as a special agent and LL Cool J as a specialist in hand-to-hand combat and forensics, both of whom focus on undercover jobs. The show is still going strong.
"NCIS: New Orleans"
"NCIS: New Orleans" starring Scott Bakula, Vanessa Ferlito and CCH Pounder (not pictured) is the second spinoff of the CBS series "NCIS." The show, which follows a team of Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents as they attempt to solve crimes involving Navy and Marine Corps personnel between the Mississippi River and the Texas Panhandle, debuted in 2014.
"Combat!"
"Combat!" — a show about the dark reality of American soldiers fighting the Germans in WWII — aired on ABC from 1962 to 1967. It interestingly featured a number of notable guest stars like Robert Duvall, Frankie Avalon, Mickey Rooney and Dennis Hopper.
