Targeted twice
Dorit Kemsley was still recovering after being held at gunpoint in her home when she was followed in a store and robbed of $10,000, she revealed on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." Speaking to the camera in a confessional, Dorit said she was shopping for the 2022 holidays when she withdrew $10,000 in cash from the bank "so I could have some money for Christmas gifts" (as one does in Bravo-lebrity land). "I have my handbag in the shopping cart. When I got to the register, I realized that my handbag was gone," she continued. "The police came down and they reviewed the video surveillance. They had discovered that I was followed by three men. That threw me right back into the throes of PTSD."
While the idea of taking out $10K in cash for Christmas gifts may be hard to fathom, the star's PTSD is understandable. In October 2021, she was home alone as her two children slept when three men broke in, held her at gunpoint and threatened to kill her, according to DailyMail.com. After begging the robbers not to harm her or her kids, they reportedly stole jewelry and handbags, but left the family untouched. Dorit, who shares her son and daughter with husband PK Kemsley, has since undergone therapy for PTSD, some of which has appeared on the show.

Gowns galore
When Paris Hilton walked down the aisle to marry venture capitalist Carter Reum in 2021, she was clad in a flowing, white lace gown by Oscar de la Renta. Apparently, it was just one of the nearly four dozen wedding gowns she corralled for her big day.
"I knew right away that I wanted to walk down the aisle in Oscar. I wanted something that was really just a princess, but had the 3D flowers on it. I was going for a Grace Kelly vibe," Paris recently told British Vogue in a video interview. "I actually wore six dresses the night of my wedding. It was because I literally had 45 of them," she continued. "My stylist was getting calls from designers all around the world and everyone was excited to be a part of this wedding that they all made these incredible custom dresses that were so beautiful, so I tried to wear as many of them as possible," the star added.
Paris and Carter, both 42, share one child, 9-month-old son Phoenix.
Blue Ivy's name explained
After years of fan speculation about the unusual name JAY-Z and Beyonce picked for their first-born, Blue Ivy Carter, Jay finally explained the name's backstory on "CBS Mornings" this week. As it turns out, the name Blue was unrelated to Jay's "Blueprint" albums — but there was a strong father-daughter connection from the beginning.
"Her name was meant to be Brooklyn," the New York City native revealed to Gayle King on the Friday, Oct. 27 show, according to Billboard. "That was the name we had in theory, but when we got the sonogram, it was super small and we was calling her blueberry. Like, 'Look at the little blueberry!' It was a nickname. For nine months, we were like, 'Look at the little blueberry,' so it was natural. We just took the 'berry' off and called her Blue."
Blue, seen here with her parents in 2018, has grown up quite a bit since then. Now 11 and the proud winner of a Grammy Award, a BET Award and an NAACP Image Award, Blue just wrapped up a stint performing alongside Beyonce on her "Renaissance" tour. (She joined Bey onstage for the song "My Power.")
"I still get goosebumps seeing her walk on stage cause Blue's been born into a life she didn't ask for," Jay admitted. "Since she was born, she's been in scrutiny, in [the] public eye … so for her to be on that stage to reclaim her power — and the song is called 'My Power' — you can't write a better script."
Health update
At 66, Katie Couric is "a living, walking example of the importance of early detection and getting screened" for breast cancer, she recently told People. Katie revealed she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2022, going public with the news in an essay she hoped would encourage others to get screened. "I was very fortunate," the journalist said. "My cancer was caught very, very early when it's most treatable, and if I can just be an advertisement for people to get screened, to get their mammography done, to talk to their doctors, and if they have dense breasts, to get additional screening."
In her essay, Katie explained she had a mammogram and a sonogram before doctors were able to confirm she had a lump. After a biopsy confirmed it was cancer, she had the lump removed in July 2022, she shared at the time.
"It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month," added Katie, whose first husband, Jay Monahan died of colorectal cancer in 1998 at age 42. "It's something that I talk about all year round, but especially this month when everybody is so focused on it," she said.
Friends-only era
Newly-minted billionaire Taylor Swift is shutting down rumors about the era of her all-girl "squad" around age 24. In the liner notes to her new album, "1989 (Taylor's Version)," the singer explains that at the time, she'd "sworn off dating" — and even being platonic friends with men — because interacting with them led to "slut shaming" and gossip.
"I had become the target of slut shaming — the intensity and relentless of which would be criticized and called out if it happened today," Taylor writes, according to People. "The jokes about my amount of boyfriends. The trivialization of my songwriting as if it were a predatory act of a boy crazy psychopath … I had to make it stop because it was really starting to hurt."
The pop star goes on to recall, "I swore off dating and decided to only focus on myself, my music, my growth, and my female friendships. If I only hung out with my female friends, people couldn't sensationalize or sexualize that — right? I would learn later on that people could and people would."
In the end, Taylor looks to her fans, thanking them for, among other things, understanding that she was "making up for a lack of [female friends] in childhood (not starting a tyrannical hot girl cult)."
Out Friday, Oct. 27, the release of "1989 (Taylor's Version)" coincides with another major career milestone for the singer. That same day, Forbes reported Taylor is officially a billionaire, thanks to her wildly successful "The Eras Tour" and concert film.
Fieri-free nuptials
Bad news for "Twilight" fans who love the Food Network. Celebrity chef Guy Fieri won't be officiating Kristen Stewart's wedding — though it's not because he wasn't up for the task. During a chat with Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happened Live" on Thursday, Oct. 26, Kristen was asked about her revelation to Howard Stern that she'd love to have the so-called Mayor of Flavortown do the honors when she marries fiancée Dylan Meyer.
And she would — but she'd rather not have to plan for it in advance. "[Guy's team] reached out and were like, 'You know, we are down for this.' And I was like, 'Me too, but also I'm bad at planning stuff, so I'll hit you up soon,'" Kristen shared, according to The Daily Beast. "I think we'll probably just marry each other and then call Guy and say, 'You were here in spirit, babe.'"
Asked why Guy was her top choice for the role, the bride-to-be said she and the famed TV chef have a "similar fashion sense and hair." She added that he "seems like a really nice dude and he marries a lot of queer people." Kristen also admitted the couple's big day might be hard for anyone to plan for. When Andy prodded her about the date she has in mind, Kristen replied, "I don't know. We're going to sort of surprise ourselves."
