The relationship that started it all! In 2007 while searching for a different artist, record executive Scooter Braun came across one of Justin Bieber's YouTube covers. Impressed by what he saw, Scooter tracked the Canadian kid down and contacted his mother, Pattie Mallette. At just 13, the Stratford, Ontario, native signed with Raymond Braun Media Group (R&B singer Usher and Scooter's joint business venture). Another famous name was also interested in signing the up-and-coming singer at the time — Justin Timberlake! Scooter, however, earned his trust and became the Bieb's manager one year later in 2008.

2008 marked the year in which Justin Bieber signed with Island Records! After getting in touch with former manager Chris Hicks, Usher was able to schedule an audition for Justin with L.A. Reid, the former CEO and chairman of the now-defunct Island Def Jam Music Group.

Justin Bieber's first single, "One Time," was released on May 18, 2009. The track off his debut EP, "My World," went on to become certified platinum in Canada and five-times platinum in the United States.! On Oct. 6, 2009, Justin released the second single off his EP, "One Less Lonely Girl," which did very, very well commercially, going three-times platinum in the United States. On Dec. 13, 2009, Justin Bieber marked another milestone in his burgeoning music career — he performed in front of then-President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama at the White House for TNT's "Christmas in Washington" special. That evening, he took the stage with his rendition of Ron Miller and Bryan Wells' "Someday at Christmas."

And the major performances kept on coming! On Dec. 31, 2009, a 15-year-old Justin Bieber performed during Ryan Seacrest's famed New Year's Eve television special. He took the stage and sang his hit single "One Less Lonely Girl" to fellow teen star Selena Gomez! Little did these two know that they'd soon embark on a roller coaster romance that would span seven years.

At the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards on Jan. 31, 2010, Justin Bieber took the stage alongside Kesha! Just 13 days before making his appearance at the Grammys, Justin released the lead single "Baby" off of his debut album, "My World 2.0." The track earned major critical and commercial success and went 12-times platinum in the United States.

On March 19, 2010 — just a little more than two weeks after his 16th birthday — Justin Bieber released his debut album, "My World 2.0," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. With singles including "Never Let You Go," "Eenie Meenie" and "Somebody to Love (Remix)," Justin made history as the youngest solo male artist to top the chart since Stevie Wonder in 1963!

Nearly a month after releasing "My World 2.0," Justin Bieber made his debut on NBC's "Saturday Night Live." On April 10, 2010, he took the famous stage to perform singles "Baby" and "U Smile."

June 23, 2010, marked the date on which Justin Bieber embarked on his first-ever concert trek, the "My World Tour," in promotion of his debut EP and album. The world tour, which consisted of 128 shows, concluded on Oct. 19, 2011, and grossed $60.58 million.

As if a promotional tour wasn't enough, why not document it?! On Feb. 11, 2011, "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" was released in theaters. The 3D concert film chronicled his rise to teen stardom and experiences while on tour. The movie, which was directed by "Crazy Rich Asians" filmmaker Jon M. Chu, was a major commercial success that grossed $99 million on a $13 million budget and became the highest grossing concert movie since 1984. Adorable! At the 2011 Grammy Awards, Justin Bieber attended as a first-time nominee. That night, the teen heartthrob was up for two awards: best new artist and best pop vocal album for "My World 2.0."

On Nov. 1, 2011, Justin Bieber released his second studio album and first Christmas album, "Under the Mistletoe." It was an immediate success: In addition to going double platinum in the United States, "Under the Mistletoe" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, making it the first Christmas album by a male artist to debut in the top spot. As for Justin Bieber's third studio album? That would be "Believe," which was released on June 15, 2012. As he wanted to move away from his teen heartthrob status, the album marked a more mature musical era for the pop star. With singles including "Boyfriend," "As Long as You Love Me," "Beauty and a Beat" and "Right Here," the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, making it Justin's third consecutive album to do so.

All in good fun! In March 2015, Justin Bieber was the honoree during Comedy Central's "Roast of Justin Bieber." At just 21, the Canadian hitmaker made history as the youngest roastee to ever be featured. Comedians including Pete Davidson, Hannibal Buress and Will Ferrell took the stage to make some jokes about the pop star.

Justin Bieber made an emotional return to the MTV Video Music Awards stage in August 2015 after five years away. The singer performed "What Do You Mean," the first single off his highly anticipated album "Purpose." As to be expected, the performance was packed with impressive dance moves and he even flew over the crowd! Afterward, the Canadian crooner was overcome with emotion and broke down in tears on stage. "I just wasn't expecting them to support me in the way that they did," Justin told Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show" of the emotional moment. "Last time I was at an award show, I was booed. I think I've worked so hard on this album. I've worked so hard at just becoming the man I want to become. Stepping into situations, you just can't help but feel judged. I was feeling judged and wanting to win so badly and just wanting to do what I love so badly that I just put everything on the line."

On Nov. 13, 2015, Justin Bieber released his fourth studio album, "Purpose," to critical acclaim. The album marked a noteworthy shift toward a more R&B and EDM sound and included collaborations with artists including Big Sean, Halsey and Travis Scott and producers like Skrillex and Diplo. "Purpose" also marked a historic release in Justin's career — not only did it debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, but it gave Justin the largest first-week sales of his career. The album went on to earn two nominations at the 2017 Grammy Awards: album of the year and best pop vocal album. Its third single, "Love Yourself," earned nominations for song of the year and best pop solo performance. "I'm self-expressing with this album — I can't skip on the moments that were dark, the moments that were happy, the ex-girlfriend stuff. It makes it real, rather than 'Let's call up Max Martin to write you a hit song.' I want my music to be inspiring," he told Billboard.

In 2016, Justin Bieber took home the first Grammy Award of his career! Justin, along with Skrillex and Diplo (pictured), earned the honor for best dance recording for "Where Are Ü Now."

From March 2016 to July 2017, Justin Bieber was on the road for the "Purpose World Tour" in support of his fourth studio album. With ticket sales topping $344.2 million, it became one of the highest grossing tours of 2016 and 2017. The concert trek, however, concluded 14 shows early due to Justin's battle with depression. "I've learned the more you appreciate your calling the more you want to protect your calling," he wrote on Instagram following the cancellation of the remaining dates. "Me taking this time right now is me saying I want to be SUSTAINABLE… so that I can be the man I want to be, the husband I eventually want to be, and the father I want to be."

In late January 2020, Justin Bieber's YouTube Original docu-series, "Justin Bieber: Seasons," was released. The 10-part series gave audiences a candid look into the Canadian pop star's professional and personal lives, including his tumultuous past and battles with mental illness and his physical health following a Lyme disease diagnosis. In the series, Justin spoke about how he's since gotten to a better place mentally and how it's impacted his music. "When the focus and the goal is about yourself, you kind of tend to lose your purpose in that," he said. "I think the older I get, the more I realize that I'm not utilizing my gift, I feel, for the right reasons. This isn't about me, it's about helping someone who's going through whatever they're going through, and being able to talk about that thing, I think that's a really cool way to look at what I do." He's seen here at the "Seasons" Los Angeles premiere with his wife, model Hailey Bieber, whom he married in 2018.

The collaboration we'd been waiting for! In November 2020, Justin Bieber joined forces with fellow Canadian heartthrob Shawn Mendes to release the track "Monster." The single, which went platinum in Canada, was featured as the second single off Shawn's fourth studio album, "Wonder." While 2021 is just getting underway, Justin Bieber already has a major reason to celebrate: The pop star, seen here performing on New Year's Eve in 2020, earned four nominations ahead of the 2021 Grammy Awards including best pop vocal album for "Changes," best pop duo/group performance for "Changes" and best solo performance for "Yummy."
