A beauty salon brought six Southern women together in the 1989 film "Steel Magnolias." Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton, Daryl Hannah and Olympia Dukakis took us on an emotional journey through the ups and downs of their characters' lives that we'll never forget. On Nov. 15, 2019, it'll be 30 years since the film was released in theaters, so let's take a look at what its stars are up to now…

Julia Roberts took home another Golden Globe in 1990 for her work in "Pretty Woman" and kept pumping out hits like "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "Notting Hill." In 2000, she took home an Oscar for her performance in "Erin Brockovich." After dating around Hollywood and a failed marriage to Lyle Lovett, the star settled down with cameraman-turned-cinematographer Danny Moder in 2002. The couple has three adorable kiddos together: twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and son Henry.

Sally Field played Shelby's concerned mom, M'Lynn Eatenton, who went so far as to donate a kidney to her ailing daughter when she fell ill. The performance garnered Sally a Golden Globe nom.
Though Sally Field didn't win that Golden Globe for "Steel Magnolias," she has taken home two Oscars and a SAG Award and even earned an Emmy for her performance on TV's "Brothers & Sisters." The "Forrest Gump" actress, who's worked on screen since the '60s, has hardly slowed down. She was nominated for many awards for her work in "Lincoln" and in 2017 starred in the Broadway revival of "The Glass Menagerie," earning a Tony Award nod for her performance. Sally has two adult sons from her first marriage to Steve Craig and one son with second husband Alan Greisman, whom she divorced in 1993. Sally has over the years also earned recognition as an advocate for equal rights as she's publicly supported her youngest son, Sam Greisman, who's gay.
Shirley MacLaine played Ouiser Boudreaux, the group's nosy and somewhat bitter neighborhood pal.
The same year "Steel Magnolias" came out, Oscar winner Shirley MacLaine took home a Golden Globe for her performance in "Madame Sousatzka" and in the years since has racked up six more Globe nominations for her work in projects like "Postcards from the Edge," "In Her Shoes" and TV's "Coco Chanel." In 1998, she received the Globes' Cecil B. DeMille Award for her decades of contributions to entertainment and in 2012 was honored with the 40th AFI Life Achievement Award. Shirley, whose brother is fellow actor Warren Beatty, has one daughter from her marriage to Steven Parker that ended in the '80s.
Dolly Parton played salon owner and beautician Truvy Jones, who had an over-the-top personality.
Though Dolly Parton was great in "Steel Magnolias," acting's not her first passion. She's better known as a country music icon. The legendary hitmaker was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999, was nominated for a best original song Oscar and Golden Globe in 2006 (for "Travelin' Thru" from "Transamerica"), received the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Grammy and has yet to stop cranking out music. Her most recent album, "I Believe in You" — her 46th studio effort and first children's album — was released in 2017 and in 2018, she wrote the music for the Jennifer Aniston film "Dumplin'." Her latest project, "Dolly Parton's Heartstrings" — an eight-episode anthology series featuring stories based on her songs — will be released on Netflix in November 2019. The "Jolene" singer has been married to uber-private Carl Thomas Dean since 1966. The couple never had children, but Dolly is Miley Cyrus' godmother!
Daryl Hannah played shy newbie Annelle Dupuy-Desoto, who's hired by Truvy right of out beauty school to work at her salon.
Daryl Hannah made quite the name for herself before "Steel Magnolias" as a sexy mermaid in the 1984 movie "Splash." She went on to star in a few big movies like "Kill Bill: Vol. 1" (and "Vol. 2") and more recently appeared on the Netflix series "Sense8." The actress, who famously dated the late political dynasty scion John F. Kennedy Jr. and musician Jackson Browne in the '80s and early '90s, married musician Neil Young in 2018. When Daryl isn't acting, she's working to further the environmental causes she's passionate about, which have periodically landed her in handcuffs during protests.
Olympia Dukakis played wealthy Clairee Belcher, another friend from the neighborhood who's adjusting to life as a widow after the passing of her husband, the former mayor.
Olympia Dukakis, who won an Oscar for her work in "Moonstruck" the year before "Steel Magnolias" came out, went on to find fresh success on TV in miniseries like "Sinatra," "More Tales of the City" and "Joan of Arc," earning Emmy and Golden Globe nods for her work. Even though she's in her late 80s, she's still acting, most recently on the 2019 Netflix miniseries reboot of "Tales From the City." The mom of three was married to Louis Zorich from 1962 until his death in 2018.
Dylan McDermott played Shelby's hot lawyer husband, Jackson Latcherie, who stood by his wife during her illness.
After "Steel Magnolias," Dylan McDermott found his niche on the small screen with hit roles on series like "The Practice," "American Horror Story" and, more recently, Netflix's "The Politician" in 2019. He has two daughters from his marriage to Shiva Rose, which officially ended in 2009. In 2019, he and "Stalker" co-star Maggie Q ended a four-year engagement.
Tom Skerritt played Drum Eatenton, M'Lynn's husband and Shelby's caring father.
Tom Skerritt won an Emmy in 1993 for his performance on the TV series "Picket Fences" and reunited with his "Steel Magnolias" co-star Sally Field on TV's "Brothers & Sisters" between 2006 and 2009. He's currently married to Julie Tokashiki after two divorces. He has four biological children and one adopted daughter from his previous relationships.
