"Before Sunrise" on Hulu, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
1995's "Before Sunrise" — the first film in Richard Linklater's famed romantic trilogy — is a now-classic tale of what could transpire when you meet someone on a train in Europe. The movie — which stars Julie Delpy as Celine, an intellectual student returning to Paris for school, and Ethan Hawke as Jesse, an American heading to Vienna to catch a flight home — chronicles the single day they spend together. But what makes this drama so enticing? The fact that it all feels so natural. While the tale lacks much plot, it's the meandering and introspective conversations between Celine and Jesse that stick with us. At the film's conclusion, we're left wondering whether a bond so deep can really be broken or forgotten.

"The Notebook" on HBO Max, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
"The Notebook" tells the story of Allie, played by Rachel McAdams, and Noah, played by Ryan Gosling, who find their way back to each other in spite of seemingly insurmountable circumstances. Even death couldn't separate these two. From this movie, we learned that "behind every great love is a story" and that when your partner acts like a bird, be a bird too. "If you're a bird, I'm a bird," Noah told Allie. The most memorable scene might have been when they were in the pouring rain, and Noah kissed Allie so passionately that we all questioned if we've ever had that kind of a love. In that scene he told her, "It wasn't over. It still isn't over." Then they rekindled their love years after it all began. We also felt their intense love because Ryan and Rachel had some real chemistry. They started dating after making the film, though split a few years later in 2007. Although they weren't soulmates in real life, we'll forever have this movie!
"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" on Hulu, Showtime, Apple TV & Amazon Prime Video
Just because 2004's "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is a love story doesn't mean it's going to have a happy ending. Written by Charlie Kaufman, the film stars Jim Carrey as Joel Barish and Kate Winslet as Clementine Kruczynski, two former lovers who, after enduring a painful breakup, opt to erase each other from their minds. While Clementine has completely expunged Joel from her memory, part way through the process, Joel realizes that there are some memories he'd rather hold onto and tries to save them from being wiped out completely. "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" gives audiences an unapologetic look into the magic of falling in love and the pain of it fading away.

Johnny Castle, played by the late Patrick Swayze, and Baby Houseman, played by Jennifer Grey, had a love that was on fire in "Dirty Dancing." We knew that Johnny really loved her when he said, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner."
"Crazy Rich Asians" on HBO Max & Amazon Prime Video
After Rachel Chu agrees to accompany her longtime boyfriend, fellow New York City professor Nick Young, to his best friend's wedding in Singapore, she soon learns that her seemingly normal, middle-class beau actually hails from one of the wealthiest families in Singapore. Written and directed by Jon M. Chu, "Crazy Rich Asians" stars Constance Wu and Henry Golding. It's been praised for having an all-Asian cast, which is an anomaly among Hollywood blockbusters.
"Casablanca" on HBO Max, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
Who could forget this classic love story? Released in 1943, "Casablanca" follows two former flames, nightclub owner Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) and Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman). However, even after all this time, Rick and Ilsa's feelings for one another still persist.

They were from different social classes but found love on the doomed ship. When it sank, Jack died in order for Rose to live. And if that's not love, we don't know what is!
"Jerry Maguire" on HBO Max, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
Some movie love stories have one special moment that we just can't forget. "Jerry Maguire" had us — and Renee Zellweger's character, Dorothy Boyd — at "hello." Dorothy said the famous line to sports agent Jerry, played by Tom Cruise, when he came back after their separation to win her love again with an epic monologue that ended with the words, "You complete me." And that's when all of our hearts melted.
"A Star is Born" on HBO Max, Hulu, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
There's a reason why it's been remade so many times! 2018's "A Star is Born" — which also marked Bradley Cooper's directorial debut — chronicles the tragic love story between struggling musician Ally (Lady Gaga) and tortured artist Jackson Maine (Bradley). After Jackson discovers Ally at a bar, he devotes himself to helping her career flourish, and in the process, the two fall in love. However, as Ally's stardom grows, Jackson's alcoholism and battle with depression begin to take over. As time progresses, their bond is challenged in ways they'd never thought possible. Both Bradley and Gaga earned Academy Award nominations for their performances, and Gaga won the Oscar for best original song for co-writing the film's soaring hit, "Shallow."
"Love Actually" on Netflix, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
Who needs one love story when you can have eight? "Love Actually" is one of our favorite holiday films, and it's because of the love stories it tells. The film follows eight couples in London in the month before Christmas. Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson and Keira Knightley are all a part of this star-studded cast. We'll never get over that scene where Mark, played by Andrew Lincoln, professes his love to Keira's character, Juliet. Who doesn't want their true love to hold up a sign that reads, "To me you are perfect"?

From the iconic fashion to the stellar '90s soundtrack to the quality slang, this film never ceases to leave us totally buggin'. Cher and Josh forever!
"How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" on YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
Ten days might not seem like a long time, but it was enough for Kate Hudson's Andie Anderson and Matthew McConaughey's Ben Barry to fall in love with each other. Andie was trying to make Ben break things off with her as an assignment for her Composure magazine piece, while Ben made a bet that he could get Andie to fall in love with him. This love story had its ups and downs — because she found out about the bet and he found out about the article. But if there's one thing we learned from this film, it's that "all's fair in love and war."

"Drive Me Crazy" on YouTube, Apple TV & Amazon Prime Video
There's so much to love about this 1999 film on top of the fact that Britney Spears' "(You) Drive Me Crazy" is featured in it. Led by Melissa Joan Hart and Adrian Grenier, "Drive Me Crazy" tells the story of two high school students from completely different social circles (who also happen to be next-door neighbors) who come together for a similar purpose. Desperate to win the affections of other people, Nicole and Chase devise a plan to date one another so they can make the people they actually like jealous. Of course, it's only a matter of time until they actually start developing feelings for each other!
"A Cinderella Story" on HBO Max & Amazon Prime Video

After chatting endlessly via AOL messenger, the pair agree to meet in person at the Halloween Ball, where Sam finds out Austin's real identity while still concealing her own. However, just as she begins to muster the courage to tell him who she actually is, her evil stepsisters cook up a plan to publicly humiliate her.

"To All the Boys I've Loved Before" on Netflix
While it only came out in 2018, "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" has certainly established itself as a favorite love story among the masses. Starring Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, this rom-com tells a lighthearted love story that we could watch over and over again! When Lara Jean Covey's love letters mysteriously get sent out to her childhood crushes — including her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh — she enters panic mode and tries to cover her tracks. Her solution? Getting into a fake relationship with one of her old crushes, Peter Kavinsky. But as this "couple" spends more time together to keep up the facade, it isn't long before they actually begin to fall for each other. Throw in the added complications of Lara Jean's sister finding out, Peter's ex-girlfriend getting jealous and a seemingly scandalous hot tub video getting leaked and you've got a recipe for some serious drama. This love story is a refreshing and heartwarming depiction of teenage love in the 21st century, and we adore it! Even better? There are two sequels also available to stream on Netflix.
"13 Going On 30" on HBO Max, Hulu, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner in a movie together? Swoon. These beloved actors joined forces for "13 Going on 30" in 2004, and we are forever grateful. When awkward teenager Jenna transforms into a successful, magazine-writing journalist in New York City overnight, she is unexpectedly thrust into adulthood. However, what initially starts off as a dream come true proves to have its fair share of pitfalls, as Jenna not only struggles to adjust to the competitive world of fashion journalism but also finds herself working closely with her junior high frenemy, Lucy. The biggest shock for her though? That she realizes she's in love with a guy that's been there for her all along — her junior high best friend, Matt! What Jenna takes away from this flash-forward experience is a new lease on life as a pre-teen girl and a new appreciation for her best friend and eventual husband.

But it turns out that her feelings for Jake never really went away, and their divorce wasn't needed after all. And if there's anything we learned from this movie, it's to get married so that you can kiss that person "anytime you want."
"Notting Hill" on Hulu, Showtime & Amazon Prime Video
Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant gave us all the feels in "Notting Hill." Julia played movie star Anna Scott, who fell in love with Hugh's character, William Thacker, a simple Englishman intimidated by her fame. But she loved him, even though he wasn't famous. Julia delivered one of the most classic romantic movie lines ever in this film: "I'm also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her." And we're just sitting here crying asking him to love her back. Thankfully, he does!
"You've Got Mail" on HBO Max, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
The sound of that AOL voice saying "You've Got Mail" has never sounded so good! Meg played Kathleen Kelly, a bookstore owner who fell in love with a man by the name of Joe Fox, played by Tom, in a chatroom. It turned out that Joe was the heir to a rival bookstore chain, Fox Books. Luckily for them, true love conquered all business issues!

"(500) Days of Summer" on Hulu & Amazon Prime Video

In "(500) Days of Summer," Joseph Gordon Levitt stars as Tom Hansen, an unfulfilled architect whose 9-to-5 job entails writing greeting cards. After meeting his boss's new assistant, Summer Finn (Zooey Deschanel), Tom falls head over heels for her. Still, Leo remains steadfast in helping Paige remember the special bond they shared.
"Juno" on Hulu, Starz & Amazon Prime Video
You're a part-time lover and a full-time friend… we could go on singing the lyrics of this beloved duet sung by the film's leads, but we'll spare you! Starring Ellen Page and Michael Cera, "Juno" is a quirky coming-of-age film that offers a moving look into teenage pregnancy. When 16-year-old Juno MacGuff realizes she's pregnant with fellow high schooler Paulie Bleeker's baby, she makes the decision to give her child up for adoption. They're high school sweethearts who've had to grow up quicker than most, and the way they handle their circumstance is nothing short of heartfelt.
"The Proposal" on YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
One of the best parts about "The Proposal" was undoubtedly the hilarious and adorable Betty White. But Betty aside, we have to say that this film has an incredible and unbelievable love story in it too. Sandra Bullock played the boss from hell (and from Canada), Margaret Tate. In order to stay in the United States after her visa expires, she asks her assistant, Andrew Paxton — charmingly played by Ryan Reynolds — to pretend-marry her. The only problem is that he has to bring her home to Sitka, Alaska, where they have to continue the charade in front of his family. But they didn't really have to pretend at all, did they?! All it took was one kiss for these two to discover that they had very real feelings for each other and that their love wasn't actually a lie.
"Serendipity" on HBO Max, Apple TV & YouTube
It's a movie that will make you believe in fate and realize that those who find love are truly lucky. In "Serendipity," Kate Beckinsale played Sara Thomas and John Cusack starred as Jonathan Trager. Sara and Jonathan have the best night ever — the only problem being that they both have significant others. Instead of exchanging names and numbers in a practical way, Jonathan writes his number on a $5 bill and Sara writes hers in a "Love in the Time of Cholera" book. They left it all up to destiny, and it magically all worked out.

"Never Been Kissed" on Hulu, Starz, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
In order to find love, sometimes you just have to go back to school. In "Never Been Kissed," Josie Geller, played by Drew Barrymore, never had a relationship. Fortunately, her job sent her to be an undercover reporter at a high school, where teacher Sam Coulson, played by Michael Vartan, was the guy she's been waiting for all along. In what is perhaps one of the best kissing scenes of all time, Josie finally gets smooched by Sam on a baseball field in front of everyone. The PDA moment set the bar high for first kisses everywhere.
"Pride and Prejudice" on Hulu, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
Based on Jane Austen's novel of the same name, "Pride and Prejudice" tells one of the most classic love stories, well, ever. Keira Knightley played Elizabeth Bennet and Matthew Macfadyen played Mr. Darcy in the 2005 film. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy had chemistry, but he was rich and came from a different class. They had to overcome their prejudices about each other, but their love finally unfolded when they put their pride aside.
"She's All That" on YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
If this film doesn't pop into your head when you think "'90s rom-com," then we don't know what does! Starring Rachael Leigh Cook as art star Laney Boggs and Freddie Prinze Jr. as jock Zack Siler, "She's All That" tells the now-classic tale of a quirky, seemingly undateable girl who undergoes a major makeover and scores the hottest, most popular guy in school. While the premise might sound base, this film was among the first to tell the tale — so it definitely has a special place in our hearts. Also, we can't hear "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None The Richer without envisioning Laney debuting her new look as she makes her way down the stairs!
"Romeo + Juliet" on Hulu, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
Shakespeare's famous play came to life in the 1996 film "Romeo + Juliet" starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. We all know the story of the two star-crossed lovers who die because of their feuding families. In this film, the passionate acting combined with the music, which included Des'ree's song "Kissing You," made for an even more heart-wrenching tale.
"Silver Linings Playbook" on Netflix, Hulu, Showtime & Amazon Prime Video
This particular film is one that we can't help but love — and it's not just because it stars Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. Directed by David O. Russell, "Silver Linings Playbook" tells the story of Pat and Tiffany, two strangers who are grieving the loss of past relationships. While Pat wants to show his wife that he's an improved man, Tiffany wants desperately to win a local ballroom dance competition — and it doesn't take long for these two to come together to help each other achieve their respective goals. What they realize, though, is that they're more compatible with each other than they thought possible. The film, while exceptionally acted, is a special one because of its portrayal of mental illness — it's a beautiful reminder of how important it is to accept who you are, and how having a mental illness isn't something that defines you.
"Like Crazy" on Hulu, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
This one hurts. Starring Felicity Jones and the late Anton Yelchin, "Like Crazy" chronicles the relationship between Jacob, an American student, and Anna, a British exchange student. "La La Land" hit theaters in 2016 and was an immediate hit among moviegoers and critics alike. The Los Angeles-based film, which stars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, tells the story of two struggling artists — Emma's Mia is an actress who can't seem to catch a break, while Ryan's Sebastian is a jazz musician who wants to open his own club. The two meet at the cusp of bringing their dreams to fruition, and while — spoiler alert — they don't end up together, there's something cathartic about their love story. In this film, the ideas of falling in love and achieving your dreams collide head on, and what results is a realistic, albeit heart-wrenching look at modern love in a city of dreamers.
"10 Things I Hate About You" on Disney+ & Amazon Prime Video
Starring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles, "10 Things I Hate About You" tells another love story we can't seem to get enough of. To many of her classmates, Kat Stratford is an intelligent though unapproachable teen who neither attracts nor cares to attract teen boys. Her younger sister, Bianca, on the other hand, couldn't be more her opposite — she's a popular, boy-crazed girl who loves and welcomes male attention. Recognizing just how disparate his daughters are, their strict father sets one rule for dating: Bianca can only date when Kat does… but when Kat meets good-hearted rebel Patrick Verona, her anti-boy philosophy gets completely thrown into question. This film, which debuted in 1999 and is a modern retelling of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew," is a definite cult classic. Plus, what's not to love about two social outcasts who end up falling for each other in the most unexpected of circumstances?
"The Wedding Singer" on HBO Max, YouTube & Amazon Prime Video
This film has one of the best soundtracks ever! But it's also got a great story. Set in 1985, "The Wedding Singer" shows what happens when Robbie, a successful wedding singer, meets Julia, a server for a catering company at one of the weddings where he's performing, and the two hit it off. Newly engaged Julia and recently abandoned-at-the-altar Robbie continue to spend more time together and eventually develop a sweet bond — but their friendship turns complicated when Robbie realizes he's in love with her! What results is a desperate, frantic effort to win her over before she ties the knot with a guy who doesn't deserve her. The film is equally hilarious and heartwarming — and what's not to love about a Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler collaboration?!
"She's the Man" on YouTube, Apple TV & Amazon Prime Video
Starring Amanda Bynes as Viola Hastings, "She's the Man" tells the story of a teenager who pretends to be her twin brother, Sebastian, in hopes of playing on the boys soccer team at his prep school after the girls team is disbanded. While the film is packed with a ton of fun moments, it's Viola's burgeoning romance with Duke Orsino (Channing Tatum) that stands out for us. Despite being friends (and roommates) when she's disguised as Sebastian, Viola begins to fall for Duke!
"The Princess Diaries" on Disney+
Disney's "The Princess Diaries" tells the story of a San Francisco teen (Anne Hathaway) who comes to learn that she's actually the heir to the throne of Genovia, a country in Europe. After receiving a visit from her estranged grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi (Julie Andrews), Mia agrees to take princess classes in preparation to potentially take the throne. Meanwhile, as Mia pines over the popular, hunky kid in school, Josh Bryant (Erik von Detten), she initially fails to recognize that her best friend's brother, Michael Moscovitz (Robert Schwartzman), is really the guy for her. "The Princess Diaries" also has one of the most heartwarming rom-com lines ever. Note to self: When someone asks why you want to date them, respond with, "Because you saw me when I was invisible." Swoon!
"Lost in Translation" on Hulu, Starz & Amazon Prime Video
While it's not necessarily a romantic love story, there's something to be said of Sofia Coppola's "Lost in Translation." The film stars Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray as two lonely Americans who find themselves in Tokyo, meet by happenstance and begin to spend time with one another. This film, which earned Sofia a best original screenplay Oscar, showcases a different kind of love — their connection isn't romantic but it is rooted in companionship.
"Going the Distance" on HBO Max, YouTube & Apple TV
Justin Long and Drew Barrymore portrayed a relationship in "Going the Distance" that felt very real. Drew played Erin, who lived in San Francisco. Justin played Garrett, who lived in New York. The two had a chance encounter that turned into a brief relationship when Erin was interning in New York. However, she had to move back, and they continued to have a long-distance relationship. But the struggles of being so far apart took a toll. If you've ever been in a long-distance relationship, their love story was probably hard to watch. The ending, however, was everything that Erin and Garrett could have hoped for!
"Beauty and the Beast" on Disney+ & Amazon Prime Video
It's a "tale as old as time." And it's a story about how inner beauty matters more than what's on the outside when it comes to love. Beauty Belle falls in love with a beast. And even though he turns out to be a handsome prince, she loved him before she knew his true identity! This Disney animated film is one of the most classic love stories ever, so it's no wonder it was remade into a live-action film starring Emma Watson in 2017.
"The Last Song" on Disney+ & Amazon Prime Video
Sparks flew between Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth when they starred in "The Last Song" on screen and off. Miley played Ronnie Miller, a girl who rediscovers her love for music when she falls in love with Liam's character, Will Blakelee. We're singing about love with you, Miley! In real life, Miley and Liam became a couple in 2009 after meeting on the set of "The Last Song" and spent the next decade in an on-and-off relationship that ended for good when their divorce was finalized in 2020.
