During his illustrious career, the late, great John Hughes directed just eight films — all widely regarded as classics — and wrote several more of the most iconic movies of the '80s, including "Some Kind of Wonderful." Lea Thompson, Eric Stoltz and Mary Stuart Masterson starred in the teen love story, which debuted on Feb. 27, 1987. In honor of the film's 30th anniversary, Wonderwall.com is counting down the hottest men who starred in John Hughes movies. Keep reading to see where Eric falls on the list and to find out who else made the cut…
No. 18: Jon Cryer
Jon Cryer's Duckie might not have gotten the girl, but he still won plenty of female fans when "Pretty in Pink," which John Hughes wrote, debuted in 1986.
No. 17: Anthony Michael Hall
Whether you were into nerdy guys, jocks or bad boys, "The Breakfast Club" had a man for you. Anthony Michael Hall — who also starred in John Hughes' "National Lampoon's Vacation," "Sixteen Candles" and "Weird Science" — portrayed the adorakable Brian Johnson in the 1985 ensemble dramedy.

No. 16: Ilan Mitchell-Smith
The equally adorkable Ilan Mitchell-Smith starred as Wyatt Donnelly, one of two nerdy best friends who accidentally bring their virtual dream girl to life in 1985's "Weird Science." (Anthony Michael Hall portrayed Wyatt's pal and partner in crime, Gary Wallace.)
No. 15: Alan Ruck
He might not have been as charismatic as his pal, but we always had a soft spot for Alan Ruck's Cameron Frye in the 1986 comedy "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
No. 14: Judd Nelson
No one was better at being a bad boy than Judd Nelson, who starred as John Bender in "The Breakfast Club."
No. 13: Kevin Bacon
Kevin Bacon starred as Jake, a handsome newlywed, in the 1988 romantic comedy "She's Having a Baby."
No. 12: Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr. was just 20 years old when "Weird Science" debuted. The rising star portrayed Ian, one of the two bullies who terrorize Gary and Wyatt in the 1985 sci-fi-comedy. Wasn't he a cutie?!
No. 11: Andrew McCarthy
We fell hard when Andrew McCarthy's Blane proved to Molly Ringwald's Andie that he wasn't just another stuck-up rich kid in "Pretty in Pink."
No. 10: Bill Paxton
Bill Paxton portrayed Chet Donnelly, Wyatt's older brother, in "Weird Science." It's clear the young actor was a total hunk — even if his character had an awful hairdo, smoked cigars and was kind of a turd.
No. 9: Craig Sheffer
Craig Sheffer portrayed Hardy Jenns, Amanda Jones' jerky ex-boyfriend, in "Some Kind of Wonderful." Like it or not, he sure looked good terrorizing Eric Stoltz's Keith!
No. 8: Robert Rusler
The especially dreamy Robert Rusler (left) portrayed Max, who along with Robert Downey Jr.'s Ian makes life miserable for Gary and Wyatt in "Weird Science."
No. 7: Alec Baldwin
Alec Baldwin was at his sexiest when he portrayed Davis, Jake's pal and best man, in "She's Having a Baby."
No. 6: Eric Stoltz
Eric Stoltz's Keith, a teen from the wrong side of the tracks, made us all swoon in "Some Kind of Wonderful" when he memorably told Mary Stuart Masterson's Watts, "You look good wearing my future." Aww!
No. 5: Matthew Broderick
Matthew Broderick charmed as the exceptionally likable titular teen in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
No. 4: Emilio Estevez
Who didn't want to wrestle Emilio Estevez's Andrew Clark after watching "The Breakfast Club" in 1985?
No. 3: Charlie Sheen
A young Charlie Sheen served as a quick bit of eye candy in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." His character teaches Ferris' sister Jeannie an important lesson about chilling out while they're both detained at a police station.
No. 2: James Spader
That hair! Those eyes! The ridiculously unbuttoned shirt! Andie may have fallen for Blane, but we were all about James Spader's Steff when we saw "Pretty in Pink" for the very first time. Hubba hubba!
No. 1: Michael Schoeffling
Much like Molly Ringwald's Sam Baker, we crushed hard on Michael Schoeffling's Jake Ryan when "Sixteen Candles" — John Hughes' directorial debut — opened in theaters in 1984.
